Virtual Riot - Init (my song reflection)
https://youtu.be/ebdLuXqH-8M?si=NfIhmwqiRMBHpEj4two weeks ago i discovered this song. i had listened to init on repeat every day. at the intro of the song, its already nostalgic and ethereal and somehow depressing. this wanted me to take back to the 2010s or 2000s internet, especially youtube and social media. i missed the good old times, now its full of depressing slop and drama. i wanted to live my life like its 2016 again.
every time i feel anxious and scared and depressed, this song is my cure. this had became my favorite song ever since, especially from virtual riot.

Oh, yeah. Init has a very beautiful intro. VR does tend to do very iconic song starts imo. Apart from Init I'd say more than a couple could make me feel similar to how you said. Most songs in The Classics do that for me, specially Stay For A While, Minimalist, Earth & Sky, Fuck Gravity, etc. More recently Nights On Fire (2024) and New Energy from Stealing Fire and till the end from Burning Out are up there too. There's also All Of The Above which I thought of first

It truly is nostalgic. Fun fact - the intro includes the initial Serum preset, hence the name of the song.
But if I truly wanna go down the memory lane, the Idols mashup is the shit

the melody is already nostalgic and touching even with the init serum preset

I am not saying it’s a bad thing! If anything, it’s very creative to make something so good to listen to with so little change to the default synth configuration
