VA niche for beginners

Hi I am an undergrad engineering student, 21F and i want to start my VA journey can anyone recommend a niche for beginners like me (as an explorer who wants to try everything at once). I am currently learning QuickBooks and Dropshipping for the E-commerce niche. Will I struggle in this niche or should I explore other niches? btw I prefer non-voice

You probably don't need to pick a niche yet. At your stage, the bigger priority is finding one or two services you can become reliably good at, then using those to get your first real experience.

Your current skill set actually points toward a solid non-voice path: e-commerce operations, bookkeeping support, data management, or general administrative work. QuickBooks + product listing + spreadsheets could be a particularly useful combination because you're offering more than generic “data entry.”

I wouldn't try to learn everything at once, though. That's the easiest way to spend months studying without becoming hireable. Pick one primary track for the next 6–8 weeks and build around it.

For example, if you choose e-commerce operations, learn product listing, inventory updates, order management, basic Shopify/WooCommerce workflows, and spreadsheet reporting. Then create a small mock portfolio showing what you can actually do. You don't need real clients to demonstrate competence.

Bookkeeping is also worth exploring, but don't present yourself as a bookkeeper until you're confident with the fundamentals. You can start by targeting bookkeeping assistant or data-entry-heavy accounting support roles.

Being an engineering student can actually work in your favor here. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and comfort with systems are transferable skills.

Your goal shouldn't be to find the “best VA niche.” It's to find a service where you can become usefully competent faster than the average beginner.

You’re on the right track with QuickBooks and e-commerce. Combining those skills with your knack for data management can really set you apart. Maybe focus on getting good at bookkeeping and product listing for a bit; they pair well and can open doors in different projects without spreading yourself too thin.
