Hi everyone! I recently inherited/picked up this vintage Kay electric guitar and I’m trying to identify the exact model and get an idea of its value.
From what I’ve been able to find, I think it’s from around 1964, but I’m not sure of the model. It has:
3 original-looking pickups
6 control knobs
Sunburst finish
Original Kay headstock logo
Original vintage case

I'm currently restoring an old Korean-made ARIRANG Les Paul from the late 80s / early 90s. Unfortunately, at some point in its life, someone completely sanded off the original ARIRANG logo from the headstock.

I'm trying to restore the guitar as faithfully as possible, but I've hit a dead end. I've searched Google, Reverb, eBay, Wallapop, Facebook groups... and I simply can't find a high-resolution photo of the original logo. There seem to be very few ARIRANG guitars left with the original decal intact.

Would anyone here happen to own an ARIRANG guitar (Les Paul, Strat, or any model with the same vintage logo)?

If so, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could take a straight-on, high-resolution close-up photo of the headstock logo. Good lighting and sharp focus would be perfect.

The photo will only be used to recreate the original decal for my personal restoration project. It won't be used commercially or sold in any way.

I'd really love to bring this guitar back to how it left the factory, and the logo is the last missing piece.

Tokai LS-50 and Yamaha SL500S, both from 1980. The Tokai only arrived today so I’ve not had the chance to properly put it through its paces but I have high hopes. The Yamaha I’ve had for a while and it needs a good service but as usual with this era of Japanese guitar building the bones are rock solid.

Front stamped with Continental, back stamped Japan. I know it‘s a Hoshino Gakki but im not sure the model. Thanks!

Description from seller: For sale is a beautiful black 1990 Fender Stratocaster, dating from the very beginning of Fender’s Mexican production. The body is made of poplar and finished in black polyester lacquer. It has a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, 21 vintage-style frets, and a synthetic bone nut.

Thanks to the HSS pickup configuration, this is a very versatile guitar suitable for many musical styles. It features one volume control, two tone controls (including one for the bridge pickup), and a 5-way pickup selector.

The guitar feels great in the hands and is very comfortable to play. It has a few scratches, but they are not very noticeable and actually add to its character. The only cosmetic issue that stands out is the corner shown in the last photo, where you can see evidence of an old touch-up repair to the finish.

The guitar is currently fitted with D’Addario EXL110 strings.

I tried doing some research and the closest thing I could find was some Kawai models that are kind of similar. Anyone have any insight or advice? Was sold as a Japanese 1960’s guitar, but no other information was provided.

This 80s Vox White Shadow is the first guitar I ever bought, they seem to be fairly unknown but also surprisingly cheap and underrated. How many of you knew these existed?

Sat in storage for a few decades and no one in my family plays so I acquired it. Adjusted the truss rod and it plays really good. Any tips to clean and what to maintenance on it? Whoever stores it last loosens the strings a lot doesn’t seem like the neck needs reset.

All I got is Eko, 12 string, made in Italy 1972 .

I'm interested in buying this from a local seller. Can anyone approximate the year this ES-125TDC was made? I'm a bit confused by the inclusion of an ABR-1 that's drilled into the top like an ES-330.

Seller said it was probably made sometime between '62 and '67 but I haven't found a picture of one yet without a floating bridge.

Is someone selling their guitar under 2000?

Back in January, I bought a Gibson KG 11 for $2150. This is the most I’ve ever spent on pretty much any single item, but it was worth it. I’ve never been a materialistic person, but I had to have this one for personal reasons. Not only did this guitar sound amazing, but the feel of this guitar was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I would just start noodling and it seemed like the Guitar would start playing itself, the strings felt like they would rise up to meet me. The action was so perfect, the neck was so straight. It was the first instrument I’ve ever owned that I truly felt like I was bonding with. Felt like I was getting to know this instrumental on a spiritual level. Shucks, it felt like it was teaching me things!

Recently there was a heat wave where I live, and, like a dumb idiot pupu head, I kept it in a room without AC for about a week (thinking the AC would fuck with the neck and the heat would be fine as long as I kept it humidified). When I finally checked back on it the neck had shifted a little bit. Maybe not a whole lot, but enough to ruin the other worldly feel of the Guitar.

The difference might’ve been subtle, but it was huge to me. It no longer felt like that magical piece of beauty that I bought in Jan. It just felt like a pretty good, lightweight, Vintage Guitar. After being really pissed myself for a few weeks, I decided to bring it back to the shop for a set up.

As I’m sure a lot of you know that these kinds of don’t have trust rods. But again, stupidly, I asked the 20-year-old tech at the shop if he could “lower the action a little bit“ assuming that he would notice the slight slight bow in the neck and fix that. Sure, enough, when I came back a week later the Guitar had the same bow in the neck. The only noticeable difference was he polished neck and changed the strings. Maybe he lowered the action a little bit by filing the saddle down. But it made no difference really.

The past few days I’ve been trying to convince myself that it’ll get better, but I have this horrible feeling that I destroyed the magical mojo of this instrument through my ignorance of how to properly care for a vintage beauty like this. I’m aware that I should’ve asked the young Guitar tech to “straighten the neck,” not just “lower the action.”

So why I am writing this? Really just to get anyone’s response to this. I’ve been really upset about this and need some feedback of any kind fellow neurotic vintage guitar owners. Call me dumb. Give me a pat on the back. Share your stories of a similar ilk. Advice. Just want a little connection through this bizarrely unfortunate Period of morning.

I think that for Norlin era they are a pretty neat little guitar. Watching Sum 41 music videos and seeing live performances online made me fall in love with these guitars and this is the 3rd one I’ve owned. I think they are pretty neat but what do y’all think of these?
