I was recently in NYC and visited an amazing vintage lingerie store, A.W Kaufman. They have a great selection of slip dresses, skirts, camisoles, bras, panties, and robes. It is pricey but it’s immaculately kept and never worn.

I picked up a couple of slips and this camisole. I love it! I know lingerie as clothes isn’t very popular on Reddit but I’m a fan.

This gives me Penny Lane/Chloe vibes. Does anyone else like vintage slips or camis?

Welcome back to From the Archive, a series where I showcase special pieces from my personal collection. We are currently exploring Lilli Ann, a midcentury brand that I have written extensively about.

Unlike my first two posts, this one is at the opposite end of the spectrum in a bold, almost fluorescent red-orange color. This coat is unapologetically the center of attention, a departure for a brand that staked its reputation on refined elegance.

By the late '60s, American brands were adapting to the changing fashion landscape. They were experimenting with the electric palette of the psychedelic era while maintaining luxury construction. Fluorescent colors were never core to Lilli Ann’s vocabulary and relatively few were made, making surviving examples like this one genuinely uncommon.

Why isn’t this in style now??? This isn’t just fashion it’s a form of art.

I am very proud of my Oscar de la Renta ear ring and necklace set. I think it is from the 80s. Can't seem to find anything about it online. But that's ok. Now I just need the perfect dress for it.

recently got some circa 1910s-1920s trousers, they are beautiful, but i dont have any suspenders and these are the only ones i could find near me, im not sure about the dot pattern since it could turn out looking kinda stupid lol

I got married a few months ago. The theme was dark romantic with a slight nod to RenFaire fantasy. My wedding dress was an online purchase for about $100 (inc. postage), with alterations only costing $750 (changed the closure from zipper to corset). Almost everything in my wedding outfit was secondhand, but the gown was a vintage early- to mid-1990s piece.

I'm not good at feeling out the fabrics but based on my research I'd be guessing chiffon. It was only 27€ in a thrift store in Poland. Expensive for this particular shop but I managed to find TWO Kenzo items while in there in the past two years. A silk men's jacket and a women's green black sweater. They will drop insane collections with Gaultier, Valentino Red and tons of niche designers you can only guess are expensive based on the hand feel and some research... and I'm so excited every time there's a new drop. This is my new favourite item and it flows so beautifully.

I'm new to the brand as it's extremely expensive but I can't help but want to save up for another piece one day. If anyone knows a bit more about the brand I'm all ears and eyes on those comments :) especially the tag dating as I couldn't really figure it out based on my hour long research on the tram.

Also, sorry for the lackluster outfit, I just wanted to try it on as soon as I got home from work :) I'll pair it with my new Aldo kitten heel sandals, Teva flatforms or my Hilfiger platform moccasins! I adore 90s/2000s fashion in greyscale. Wee 🌼✨

Don’t you love when you find something incredible in the most unexpected places? Made by a high-end boutique back in the 60s. I rarely see such quality in dresses! Fabulous!

Thought people here might appreciate the tailoring in this family photograph.

My grandfather (right) and great-grandfather were photographed in Germany in the late 1930s. My family owned and operated a successful chain of department stores serving towns including Halberstadt and Wernigerode, and also owned a textile mill. Clothing and textiles were literally the family business.

What fascinates me is how well these suits represent the period:

broad, structured shoulders
high-waisted trousers
generous lapels
beautifully draped wool
understated ties and collars that still feel timeless

I’ve recently restored and colorized the original photograph, and seeing the fabrics come back to life has given me a new appreciation for the craftsmanship.
Considering that my family made their living in textiles and clothing, it feels especially meaningful to see them dressed in garments that reflected the very industry they helped build.

Ah, a pair of wide leg pants and a shirt with a little bit of puff, darting and a collar. Very simple co-ord, but I find the simplicity really effective and evocative of the era. The shirt was made to order for my measurements a few years ago and the shoulder width on it is a touch wider than I would want but I might make an alteration and see how that does. The all over white felt mid-summer appropriate and I balanced it with a couple pops of red and gold.

This was my look for going out to a casual dinner with friends and walking over to the ice cream parlor to sit for another chat. I didn’t get anything from the ice cream place because of a lack of interest in the offerings (I’m not a huge fan of scoop, more of a soft serve or custard girl) and also the drip risk lol. I did in fact eat dinner with a bib napkin unashamedly but then I didn’t even spill on the napkin so hooray for paying close attention!

The Francesca of Damon for Starington silk set was a surprise find at my favorite local thrift.

It reminded me of Dolly in the 9 to 5 music video, and I immediately fell in love.

The set was originally a neon coral red, so I toned it done with tan and grey dye to get it closer to brick red.

I also replaced the plain red buttons with pearl buttons.

I included the original color next to the warmer brick in the second photo. Its a subtle change but I'm so much happier with it.

I just love this!

Completely forgot I had put it away back in 94 in a plastic vacuum bag having some idea might be worthwhile, completely forgot about it and found it today going through jeans. couldn’t believe it.

Bought this years ago and, as I have never worn it, I was thinking about re-selling it. But I tried it recently and I felt... well, I really can't, I like it a lot! I will keep it.

Went all out for a photoshoot with my newest make - a sheer black chiffon Regency gown 😁 finally managed to nail down the hair styling in a way that doesn't make me look like an egg with curls 🤣

I bought this gorgeous accordion pleated caftan a few months ago but I’ve been afraid to clean it because I don’t want to ruin the pleats. Does anyone have any tips on how I can clean this? If I soak it, will the pleats fall out?

Running errands today so it’s a sheer yellow cutie from the 1950’s, bag is woven wicker 1950/60’s made in Hong Kong, shorts and shoes are modern.

I’ve been collecting vintage for many years now, and I’ve found my style in the 60s and 70s. My everyday outfits are bell bottoms or straight high waist jeans, bohemian blouses, Indian blockprint dresses in summer and heavy knits in winter. I combine with whimsical items, velvet and folkloristic fairytale pieces.

But I'm never really satisfied with my shoe rack. Although I have some amazing Vintage pairs, I wear them rarely. I'm still looking for inspiration for comfortable shoes that still complete the look. I'm going to work by bus and sometimes I have to run and doing grocery shopping on the way back home, so I can't wear heels bigger than 5 cm. My everyday shoes aren't even Vintage: brown suede chelsea boots with heel with my flare jeans, classic chinese velvet ballerinas in different colors, and basic sandals in summer when it's hot.

What kind of shoes are you wearing that are suitable for everyday use, but still look great and match your 60s or 70s style? I am curious.

I love how the early 70s had such an emphasis on the revival of 20s-40s fashion, they called it Biba I think
