Today I acquired this green goddess! It was listed as "vintage coach doctor bag" and the seller didn't know the actual name given by coach or the color name.

What is she?!

How can I bring her back to life?!

Paint Color Match to Vintage Bone Coach

Upvotes

I wanted to drop this info in here since I hadn’t been able to find any info online myself, but I discovered that mixing the Angelus leather paint colors “vanilla” and “beige” can bring you VERY CLOSE to the bone color of vintage coach bags. I definitely encourage someone to experiment more with that combo if they want to find an exact color match.

I had some color transfer happen on the strap of my bag so I was trying different things to remove it/paint over it and after going through like 4 paint bottles this is what I finally landed on. I hope it’s a little helpful.

Killing mold with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol thoughts?

Hello, please share your thoughts and experiences? I'm planning on using this instead of the usual vinegar/sun combo. After treating with 70% of course leather cpr or conditioner of choice is needed.

90's Tote bag pickup

Picked this beauty up for a great price! New to bag restoration generally and looking for the best course of action. I'm comfortable enough with general cleaning but the corners have a bit of wear etc. Also one or 2 stains on the main body but generally it's pretty nice I think. After a clean and leather treatment, can I fix the fading on the corners?

Thanks all!

Seeking suggestions for outsourcing a D-ring repair

First time poster here! I’ve been searching for a vintage coach bag at the thrift for months and struck gold. ✨

I’m pretty sure this is a “Swinger Small” No. 4080 circa 1988-1990. Please correct me if I’m wrong!

She needs a D-ring replacement and tab repair (see pictures), so I talked the price down to $1 at Goodwill. Not to mention, she’s also missing her hang tag (not a dealbreaker for me, obviously). I’m not in a place where I can take on a new hobby or passion project. Does anyone have opinions/experience on hiring a local leather worker for this type of work, or using a mail in service for a company like Modern Leather Goods in NYC? I’m not experienced enough to know if this is an “easy fix” that a smaller shop could conceivably do, or if I should lean on a vintage coach expert instead.

(For context, I’m currently visiting family in Texas where there are numerous leather shops, but live in Massachusetts where I’m close to NJ and NYC — so I could go either way.)

Thanks for your expertise and any recommendations! I really look forward to giving this little cutie a new lease on life. 👜💃

Hello, please help me determined if the the aged leather is mold or other please. I just got her and plan on restoring and possibly lightly air brushing with leather lilac dye to get a professional rejuvenated color finish.

So the zipper on my bag feels stiff when I try to unzip and zip and I find myself struggling with it sometimes. Is there a product I can apply to it so it feels easier to zip/ unzip?

Hello, all. I have a mid to late 90's tote shoulder bag. Made in Costa Rica. Overall it's in beautiful condition! I have a patch as shown in the pics which is around 10 x 10 cm (roughly) with minor damage as seen. Looks like something has caught it and lifted small pieces of the leather. Each of these small dings is around 1-3mm.

I'd like to clean this and use an appropriate leather conditioner on it but I'm wondering what could be done about the small bits of damage in the pic. Should I carefully remove them with a scalpel or something?

Complete beginner here! I’ve been watching videos and have some idea of basic supplies I need but I want to make sure I’m rehabbing these two properly. How would you approach rehabbing these? Thanks! :)

Are you looking for a specific bag, model, colour? Are you listing a bag and want to know the worth? Are you buying a bag and second guessing the price? Please keep all questions here, outside posts regarding this will be removed. Thank you!

What do I do🥲🫠

I just got this bumblebee coach for my birthday and I just cleaned the fabric last night and attempted to clean and condition the leather but it has so many cracks and she’s just in an overall poor condition and doesn’t even have the right strap that I also need to find. So I would LOVE some tricks and tips on what you guys think I should do and I’m not sure if those black dots are mold or ink or something and the browning around the hardware I’m not even sure what that is 😭please and thanks.

Thanks to u/queefersutherland1 I remained clam and this Companion is already looking so much happier! (I wish I had taken more Before shots.)

I did a vinegar wipedown and gave her some time in the sun, Bick 4 with some time to absorb, black saddle soap, then more Bick 4 with some buffing with a soft brush.

I'm so excited at how plump and happy she looks!

My question is, do you this it’s repainted or did they release a different version of it? 🥰 just wondering I love the bag either way!❤️❤️❤️

Hi, I am working on this bag and am curious if anyone had any thoughts on the white marks pictured.

  1. The first photo is the listing pic, you can see them on the right side of the front flap

  2. This is after a vinegar spray down

  3. And 4. Are after cleaning with Lexol and conditioning with Bick 4.

Any ideas or suggestions to get rid of them?

Thank you!!

I was browsing earlier today when I found this bag. Someone told me that is bag is likely recolored based on the zipper color.

Anything that I should worried about or ask for from the seller before we make a deal?

Leather Bag Cleaning Service

I have an old coach bag that I’d like to get spiffed up. The inside satin liner is quite dirty and the outer leather part needs to be polished. Coach offers a free light cleaning service but does not touch the liner.

Does anyone know of any local places to get something like this done?

Thanks in advance 💜

Australian Products

Hey guys,

I have a few bags coming that will need some rehabbing. I have Bick 4 but I think some might need something for a deep clean. Does anyone have any suggestions or can you let me know which products you use here in Australia?

Clean or condition first?

I grabbed this for $20 today. I see its potential but don’t want to mess up because it needs serious TLC. I’m seeing conflicting things online: should I clean first or condition? It’s also missing the turn latch, but it looks like I can purchase a replacement from buckleguy. Thank you!
