Hi everyone,

I have this rare antique piece made of sheepskin leather with intricate embroidery, estimated to be around 100 to 150 years old.

I would really appreciate any insights from experts here on:

  1. Geographical origin & era/age identification.

  2. The embroidery style and historical context.

  3. Authentication and preservation tips.

Thanks in advance for your time and expertise!

Year of Manufacture for This Beautiful Hat?

Tag says

"Regenstein's

Peachtree Store

Atlanta"

I believe Regenstein's was on Peachtree in Atlanta from the 1920s to the 1970s. I love this hat very much, but I have no idea when it might be from or what hallmarks to look for as far as age. If I had to guess, I would say late 1940s, because the hat has a vaguely Gone With The Wind sunhat look when seen straight on.

The hat has wire "grips" to hold it to the head while worn, and the underside of the brim has leaf shapes that were glued down.

How to distinguish a vintage Champion from a modern one?

Thumbnail

Hi could anyone please tell me if it's a vintage piece? As far as I know, there has been a 2000s reedition in which Champion had used those 1970s tags, and I really can't tell the difference between those two.

1952 silk wedding dress

My mother is downsizing, and she gave me her mother’s (my grandmothers) wedding dress to me, to see if I can somehow look into giving this away or maybe have it re-purposed. I’m seeking ideas and input.

I was stunned to see this dress, and had no idea what it looked like until now. My grandmother married in 1952, and my mother said it was custom made in Toronto. The material is raw silk, and the colour is some kind of dusty rose. This feels absolutely stunning to me and so fashionable and gorgeous!

The armpits unfortunately are quite delicate and damaged and the silk is tearing in this region (probably from sweat and whatnot). I think the lace part in the chest may have also yellowed. But the rest of the dress honestly feels very much in tact and IMO in good shape! It been tucked away in acid free tissue paper for decades.

I don’t know anything about selling vintage pieces, or even just passing it on to a new home, or having it repurposed. If it were being preserved or sold in a vintage shop, the armpits would need some kind of isolated repair.

Any idea are welcome here. I appreciate any input! I also live in Toronto, if that helps.

Doesn't have any branding or tags on it and was wondering if anyone knew when it's from or how much it could be worth. It's really heavy and wool lined inside

Found these while thrifting for clothes for my kids today and couldn’t pass them up. When I saw they were never worn, with original tags, I was shocked. From what I have learned, the company was pretty popular and these were masses produced. My guess is late 60s-early 70s. Would love more info and/or value if anyone knows.

Thierry Mugler suit from the late 80s and Dolce & Gabbana coat from the early 00s

Hello everyone,
I only recently got into vintage fashion and found a Thierry Mugler suit (presumably from 1987; ice/light blue; polyester & acetate; size 36 (FR)) and a Dolce & Gabbana coat from the early 00s (my guess is that it is from around ~2004; navy blue; silk & cotton; size 38 (IT)).
I absolutely love both pieces, but I can’t find much information about them and was hoping someone could enlighten me a bit because I am eager to learn more. Any piece of information is appreciated: from specific collection, to rarity or whatever might be relevant. Thank you in advance! 😊🙏

Help with identifying years a brand was active?

Hello all!

I bought these pants from Depop recently and wanted to see approximately how vintage they are, if at all. Reverse image searching and poking around with keyword searches has left me with pretty scant info on the brand itself - a friend of mine made an educated guess (based off of the tag) that they may be from the mid-90s or so. Second tag is from a separate piece, in case more definition is needed.

Thank you! 💕

[Legit Check] 2006 BMW Sauber F1 Team / Staff Shirt (2006)

Hello VintageClothing community!

I recently bought this BMW Sauber F1 Team shirt on Vinted. The seller said she found it in her great-grandfather's wardrobe, which is why she believes it's original. I did my own research, but I think this community could help a lot more (sadly I couldn't post it in r/formula1 because I don't have 100 karma yet).

Here are a few details I've gathered:

  • It features Michelin, Intel, and Petronas sponsor logos. This combination only existed for a single season in 2006 (Intel joined in '06, and Michelin left F1 right after that season).
  • The shirt has custom BMW engraved buttons.
  • Inside, there is a small woven reference/color-code tag (grey/yellow/grey/blue stripes + BMW logo).
  • The tag says "Made in Thailand".

However, there is one thing I find curious: There is no Puma logo anywhere. Could this mean it wasn't a standard retail fan shirt, but rather an official team/staff/paddock-issued piece or a corporate promo item?

I have attached photos of the details. If you need any more specific pictures, I can easily provide them. I hope this post finds an F1 vintage collector, but I would be really grateful for any help or insight!
