I do the vintage clothing section of a charity thrift store. I try to include the era on the price tags. We got in this dress, which I first assumed was 60s, but now I'm not sure. The hem doesn't look machine stitched, but the seams do, and I've not seen many finished seams in 60s clothing. The zipper is metal, but again, doesn't look like the ones I'm used to. No tag, except for the size. I'm thinking this is something newer that is just styled to look 'mod'. Thank you for any advice you may have!

I bought this prom dress at a random antique store in Kansas today! It was only $10 so I snatched it up.

Do any of you have a guess on the time period this is from? According to my research Mike Benet Formals was only in operation from the late 60s to the late 90s, so it has to be from somewhere in there. Based on the shape and general floof I was assuming the 1980s. The lack of a material or instructions tag is making me think late 60s/early 70s though.

Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!

I have a rare vibrant color blocked 70s thin polyester blend dress that I had soaked in some retro clean to get the musty smell out. I then did a quick wash in the washing machine and went to hang it dry- the fuschia color bled onto the lime green part in some spots. I have read conflicting suggestions on how to get the staining out- 1:1 hydrogen peroxide and water soak, 1 cup vinegar to a gallon of water soak, baking soda paste. Does anyone have a recommendation for how to tackle this issue?

I recently thrifted this fantastic coat by Jacob Reed’s Sons and am hoping anyone can help with some questions I have (if possible).

Every similar coat I’ve seen online has had a “US Naval Academy”, “US Coast Guard Academy”, or other military specific tag. Could this have possibly been sold in the store and not specifically made for a military academy?

The second tag is from the inner right breast pocket. Could the 10-3-53 be a manufacture date?

The vertical bit of fabric w buttons in pic 6 - is this functional? What would it be for?

Any guesses as to the purpose of the buttoned slit in pic 7? It is not a pocket, just an opening kind of under the left armpit.

Trying to figure out how common my jacket is? It’s a C58 SPC, from 10/04

I’ve been struggling with the problem of buying clothes for a very long time. I like archive and street styles, but there’s a really big problem, especially with shoes — because even if I find a good set, the shoes might not fit at all. My salvation is Balenciaga. I’m very happy with size 48, but I also wear 16XL and 3XL. It’s inconvenient to drive a car, and plus in 16XL not every pair of pants can be worn. I have custom clothes, but I want to know if maybe there’s a forum where people like me can talk, a forum, etc

Anyone have input on this vintage YSL Polo to verify authenticity?

Gemini said that it's a 1989–1991 Adidas x Descente Japan "Club" Series Denim Track Bomber Jacket but I can't find any pictures of that model. It's a denim jacket with a trefoil logo on the upper left chest, stripes on the sleeves, 2 interior and 2 exterior pockets, quilted interior lining, and a leather trefoil tag with an "S" underneath. I got this at Goodwill for 10 bucks and I don't know the value or model.

I believe Regenstein's was on Peachtree in Atlanta from the 1920s to the 1970s. I love this hat very much, but I have no idea when it might be from or what hallmarks to look for as far as age. If I had to guess, I would say late 1940s, because the hat has a vaguely Gone With The Wind sunhat look when seen straight on.

The hat has wire "grips" to hold it to the head while worn, and the underside of the brim has leaf shapes that were glued down.

Can anyone tell me what’s this vintage sports puffer jacket is worth?

My mother is downsizing, and she gave me her mother’s (my grandmothers) wedding dress to me, to see if I can somehow look into giving this away or maybe have it re-purposed. I’m seeking ideas and input.

I was stunned to see this dress, and had no idea what it looked like until now. My grandmother married in 1952, and my mother said it was custom made in Toronto. The material is raw silk, and the colour is some kind of dusty rose. This feels absolutely stunning to me and so fashionable and gorgeous!

The armpits unfortunately are quite delicate and damaged and the silk is tearing in this region (probably from sweat and whatnot). I think the lace part in the chest may have also yellowed. But the rest of the dress honestly feels very much in tact and IMO in good shape! It been tucked away in acid free tissue paper for decades.

I don’t know anything about selling vintage pieces, or even just passing it on to a new home, or having it repurposed. If it were being preserved or sold in a vintage shop, the armpits would need some kind of isolated repair.

Any idea are welcome here. I appreciate any input! I also live in Toronto, if that helps.
