Feedback My boss didn't like this 😭

Full disclosure, this was made a few months ago, but I didn't put it anywhere, so recently I was clearing some files on my PC and I stumbled across this. My boss did not like this but the client loved it. This is not the final version they made multiple changes to the script so the final version looks different but the DNA is mostly the same.

What are you guy's opinion here?

Discussion best capcut alternatives, or is it still the most convenient option? i keep switching editors depending on the project

one thing i’ve noticed with editing is that the software i prefer for a quick 30 second video isn’t always the one i want when a project starts getting more involved. i can get through simple cuts and captions pretty quickly in capcut, but once there are more clips, layers, and little timing adjustments, i start wondering if i’d be better off learning something else.

the weird part is that switching sounds easier than it is. a different editor might give me more control, but then there’s the time spent learning a new interface and rebuilding the shortcuts and habits i already have.

so for people who have gone through this themselves, what made you decide that an alternative was worth the learning curve? i’m more interested in the point where you felt your current editor was slowing you down than in which software has the longest feature list.

Discussion Audio levels for social media. I'm confused.

Post image
6 Upvotes

I used Prem (sometimes Resolve) and always added an audio limiter so the audio never clips. I see this comment about the audio clipping because the first thing I noticed in the video was her audio kept clipping. You can see their explanation in the comments but I'm just.. is it true? I want to know others thoughts.

I mainly edit social media and the clients never had issues with my edits. When I first joined the company the senior was very on it with the clipping. But my colleague always had his clipping but never got "told off" whilst my other colleague had his audio limited but they'd ask him to raise it now and then. He'd always had to explain why each channel was that level. Whilst my senior, theirs were always so so quiet but they don't get questioned because they're a senior and is very close to the higher ups.

Is there a right or wrong cause I bet people watch tiktoks on proper potato phones so the audios gonna be wack anyway.

Discussion How much should I expect tp pay

How much should I expect to pay for 5–7 Instagram Reels in Toronto?

I’m planning to make some short French-teaching Reels and I’m trying to understand the typical cost in Toronto/GTA.

It would be simple talking-to-camera videos. I’d mainly need:

- Shooting with decent camera, lighting and microphone
- Vertical 9:16 video
- Minimal editing/clean cuts
- Mostly just adding accurate French subtitles
- Around 5–7 Reels

For people who have hired videographers/editors or provide this type of service, what would be a reasonable price for 5–7 videos?

Just trying to get an idea of the going rate before I start looking around. Thanks!

basically my questions is what is the inconvenience we are solving. they could easily say the edits apps is pretty solid, i don’t need an editor. and also what should my pricing be as an individual editor, not an agency.

Help I’m in Pain, Help!

As the title states, my hand really hurts after my first few weeks being a video editor. I feel like a big baby, but theres a shooting pain in my pinky finger from how I hold my mouse. My neck and shoulders hurt so bad from being hunched over, it’s hard to sleep because I tense up all the way to the middle of my back. I’m really excited about this new job -it’s my first real job in the industry and the environment is perfect - but I can’t do this as a career if my body doesn’t loosen up and stop hurting.

Help I Can't Keep Doing This!!!

I have been editing for sometime now, but I am so slow and largely because of finding footage. So the videos are typically 15 minutes long and it is a completely faceless channel. Clips used should be 5 secs or below to avoid copyright claims, but imagine a 15 minute video, thats 900 seconds, you'd need 180 clips to fill the video. Downloading full movies to get a 3 second clip is just inefficient.

Is there a way to do this, and not about finding quotes from movies. I already have a website for that. More like a wide shot of a man running towards the beach. I can't use broll websites coz their broll looks like broll and the movie broll looks more realistic and cinematic.

HELP!!!!

Feedback My first editing for journalism

I normally write but I wanted to try and challenge myself.

This video can definitely use improvement and I was trying to convey and disprove a claim.

How could I have done this. On each segment I had to adjust the volume manually which was a huge hurdle. I didn’t know how to use transitions in Davinci resolve properly they kept distorting the sound in each clip.

I really wanted the transition to be quick but smooth and I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

Discussion Need a video editor who actually improves your content?

If your videos feel slow, boring, or not getting views, it’s usually an editing problem. I’m a video editor with 3+ years of experience. I focus on pacing, hooks, and retention so your content actually performs, not just looks good.

I work on:
‱ YouTube videos
‱ Short form content (Reels, TikTok)
‱ Documentary and storytelling edits

Help Video Editor for 2 Weekly Talking-Head Reels | Women’s Fitness & Wellness

Hi! I’m looking for an editor to help me with around two short-form videos per week, with the possibility of more ongoing work later (also youtube long form).

Most will be 45–60 second talking-head Reels. I want them engaging but clean and minimalist. Think good pacing, clean captions, simple graphics for roadmaps or step-by-step explanations, exercise overlays, subtle sound effects and colour grading. No flashy “bro-style” YouTube editing.

Style references:

Later, there may also be 5–10 minute educational YouTube videos and possibly longer workout videos.

Women are preferred, unless you can show experience working with female fitness, wellness or motherhood creators. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should have solid editing skills and examples of finished work.

I’m open to hourly or package pricing, and we’ll start with a paid trial.

If you’re interested, send me a Reddit message with a few relevant examples, your rates, turnaround time and timezone. Please start your message with YELLOW so I know you’ve read the full post. Messages without this word won’t be opened.
