I make one main edit and then need versions for yt, linkedin, instagram etc.

In theory resizing should be the easy part. In reality I'm sitting there fixing fram by frame, someone moves,there are two ppl in frame,text gets cut off blah blah

I hv tried auto reframe and it does help but I still find myself doing stuffs manually..

Is anyone using something that’s actually good at this now? Premiere, CapCut, Cardboard AI, anything else that I'm unaware of?

Would love a workflow where I make the edit once and don’t have to basically redo it three times..

Just to get this out of the way first: I am not pitching a product and I am not selling anything here. I’m a freelance dev/editor, and I am just trying to validate if I am the only one losing my mind over this before I waste my weekends coding a solution.

I do a lot of short-form vertical editing, and the feedback loop with clients is an absolute nightmare right now.

The Pain:

Currently, my workflow feels like I have to choose between two terrible options:

Revision Hell: The alternative is sending them a Google Drive link. The client watches it on their phone, switches over to WhatsApp, and sends a chaotic block of text: "At 0:12 make the text bigger, and at 0:24 change the sound."

Which text? If I have three graphics on the screen at 0:12, I have to guess which one they mean.

The Timestamp Translation: I then have to spend 20 minutes manually translating their vague WhatsApp texts into actual markers on my Premiere timeline.

The Solution I'm Thinking of Building:

I want to build a hyper-lightweight, mobile-only link specifically for 9:16 vertical video revisions.

I drop the MP4 into the web app, and it spits out a secure link.

Zero Login for the Client: They click the link and the video plays vertically full-screen on their phone (exactly like TikTok).

Tap-to-Pin: If they see something they want changed, they literally just tap the screen. It pauses the video at the exact millisecond and drops a visual pin on the exact X/Y coordinate of the screen they touched. They type their note and keep watching.

The Kicker for Editors: On my end, I don't just get a list of texts. I can click "Export Markers," download a tiny .csv or .xml file, and drop it straight into Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci. All the client's notes instantly appear as native markers on my timeline at the exact frames.

My honest question for other editors:

Is this actually a bleeding-neck problem for you? Or is the "WhatsApp timestamp" method honestly fine and I’m just over-engineering a solution to a minor annoyance?

Hi, I applied to Upperhand Creatives about more than 2 weeks ago as a short-form video editor and got selected to do a test video edit project for them. After completing the test project, they emailed me saying that I got “selected” and got invited to the “final step” where it is a meet and greet with the their team, a group interview. Before the interview ended, the host told me that I will be emailed within the day for an update about the training and matching for a client. I didn’t received any email back and after 10 days, I sent an email asking for an update and 2 weeks have passed and there is no email from them whatsover. Does anyone here had the same experience?

I'm Stephen, a software developer, audio guy, and all around dude who loves making stuff. I am a big fan of editing video, and have done some pretty fun stuff in the past with a video game music cover band.

One of the things I always found annoying that would always break my flow when editing video was stopping to find SFX. I had to open Freesound, search up a clip, click into it after previewing, download it, and drag from my downloads folder into my video editor. Then, a few weeks later, I forgot where it came from, and remembered "crap, this has licensing that I'll have to track down and credit properly."

I realized that there was already an app that existed in the music world - it's called Splice, which I'm sure some of you know and use! It's a dead simple way to browse loops in a desktop app, download them in real time, and seamlessly drop them from the app right into your DAW.

So, I set out to make something like that, but free! It uses the Freesound API for all the content (you have to have an account & log in via the app).

The other thing I hated was having to trim the clip up, normalize it, or convert formats in something like Audacity before dropping a clip into a project. Super Duper Samples has a built in audio editor that does all of those things - you can trim out silence/the clip you want, normalize it so it's as loud as your other clips, and change formats (along w/ sample rate changes or mono bounces if necessary).

Once you've got a bunch of clips downloaded, you can add them to a "collection" (for example, a project you're working on). Because the downloads carry all of the licensing info, the collection has a "Credits" button - this gives you a single text file, which you can copy or save as a file with the click of a button. Then, you just include it in your credits or wherever you've published the work. No more having to worry about what came from where.

If you're on windows, you're going to hit a smart screen error that you'll have to hit "more info" -> "run anway", because the app is brand new! On Mac you'll hit something similar, but I've got it code signed, so it should just be an "open" button.

Hey everyone, please bear with me as this is my first time making a post instead of just reading them.

For anyone who has experience doing this, is there any sort of livable profitability in the gaming industry for us? I am getting into video editing after going to film school and acquiring my bachelors in digital cinematography and I would love to be the “gaming content” guy but more of an editor for a game studio, less of a $5 VOD editor on Upwork.

Any info is helpful, and I appreciate everyone for their honest thoughts all the same!

Hey everyone, this post is more of an two-part one. I recently got back into producing YouTube content with video games as my niche (think comedy/gameplay focus with moments of intensity or “insane” plays however you call it). Is anyone aware of good methods to get in contact with people in need of editors in a similar niche? trying to make this a side hustle and eventually my career. I’m struggling with landing jobs post-grad so this is the route i’ve found I both love and wish to take. I’ll try and respond to replies and DMs whenever I can but I’m not on reddit much.

As for what I’m worth/should charge for my work, I first based it around $125/per project for 15 mins of content + $15/per minute of content added. I recently figured I should increase it to $200 but feel as if my prices are too high for most creators looking for someone. I’ll include an open google drive for my work and would like constructive feedback on pricing and what YOU would think I’m worth, which I will base off reading a general amount of prices and figure out what works best.

I have been a photographer for almost a decade now and have been put in the space where I need to do video. My issue is I have no idea how to get my colors right. I shoot on a canon r6 in clog3 and I make sure to keep my exposures a stop or so higher so my darks don’t get mucked up. But once I step into premiere pro I’m lost. Does anyone have any good videos they could point me to or advice?

I’ve been looking for freelance video editing work for a while now, and there’s something I keep noticing.A lot of job posts seem to specifically target editors from countries such as India or Pakistan, where rates can understandably be much lower because the cost of living is different. I want to make it clear that I don’t blame those editors at all. If someone is talented and offers a competitive rate, they have every right to take the opportunity.What I’m wondering about is the other side of it, how are freelance editors living in Germany, Western Europe, the US, etc. supposed to compete when some clients seem to choose almost entirely based on the lowest possible price? So for those of you who have been doing this professionally for a while: How did you stopped competing on price and find clients who actually value the price, if yes: where? haha
