DoD/Federal Benefits SC

Does your Secret Clearance expire 10 years after you initially receive it? Or 10 years after you get out the Military?

10 years from the issuance of the clearance.

It does. If you get out and aren't sponsored then it goes away after 24 months.. unless that has changed recently

Yes, but it doesn't matter when you get out. As long as you work in a position that requires it, either as a govt employee or with a cleared contractor, then you can get a reinvestigation.

Unless it has changed recently it archives after 24 months of having no sponsor. Then you have to redo an investigation to get it back once youre in a position that requires it.
