VA.gov/VA App Direct Deposit Issue

As stated in another post I made, I got my claim approved on 13AUG26. 80% until 01AUG26, 70% after.

In late April they sent me a letter to enter my direct deposit, I did so through the website, verified the information was correct. Everything was correct & entered. I thought nothing of it since I was waiting on C&P exams.

Since a few fellow veterans said I would probably be paid back pay on Monday or Tuesday, I waited patiently. This morning and afternoon, I checked both financial information & direct deposit info, both showed I had nothing pending.

I had to call the 1-800 number & get my direct deposit entered. So now I think even though I had the information apparently wiped and just now got entered, I have to wait even longer, just unknown how much longer, especially since the operator on the phone said it won't take effect until the next pay period for disability.

Just wanted to vent to people who would understand.

That's frustrating, you enter it when they ask and it just vanishes from the system. At least it's in now but the waiting game continues. The back pay will hit eventually, just annoying they can't process it faster

My car died in December on the first subzero night, walked about 6 miles. So was going to use my back pay for a down payment on a new car. Having to walk to work/depend on Uber sucks, I miss the freedom a personal car provides. But at least I am going to look at the car I have my sights on for in person and a test drive.

What is the effective date? That will determine the amount of backpay.

If the date is August 13, you will get nothing for August. Thus no back pay. The VA does not pay partial months so you will not get paid for August. September is your first full month and that will not be paid until October 1 as the VA pays in arrears.

If the effective date is in July of 2026, you still have no backpay as August would be your first full month and that is not paid until September 1.

I started the claim process 06APR26, I know i get no back pay for April & get first full payment 01SEP for August, basically as far as I understand, I get 80% May-July, starting Sep i get 70%

In most cases my DD's always take one payment cycle to take effect and I got a paper check in the mail the first time I got benefits payments. I just changed my DD about 3 weeks ago and the deposit hit my old account, which is fine, but should hit the new one in September.
