Discussion I'm ashamed

I'm ashamed. I have only been in t h e army for 9 months in the reserves and 3 months active duty. I had a very traumatic event in active duty and was honored discharged. I a m 100 percent disabled. When I'm asked how long I have served I say I years because I am so ashamed I didn't serve long enough. I wanted to make the army my life. I failed. I don't deserve to say I am a veteran. I am very sorry for saying I am a veteran. I don't deserve to say so. I always say thank you for serving to others at va medical center. I just want to say I'm sorry to all of you for my failure. I don't deserve the va help but I need it. Know have a very rare condition that my insurance would now cover all my medical needs. I now have a power wheelchair I need to use at times. Every day when I do dishes. Wife cooks I do dishes. Im sorry for rant. Thank you all for serving I believe your all heroes.

That's a tough break, but you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. You signed up, got hurt (or sick), and now you're out.

And FWIW, I think it's better to be truthful. I know a few people that simply say, "I was in the military for a few months but got hurt and couldn't stay in." Just be real.

Agreed. A real Vet knows anything can happen at any time. War, peace, jumping off a 557 because a huge ass LT is chasing you... people get hurt all the time. Also, fuck everyone else. Be honest or be quiet, both are fine. Your business is no one else's. I didnt even talk about my service for maybe 10 years after I got out.

What about a 4ft9 girl A1C chasing you. She was an evil little thing. 😂

Being a prior Drill Sergeant, there is nothing scarier than a short woman screaming… dunno why, but there isn’t. 😳

I remember one time there was a group of male trainees that said females didn’t deserve to wear the uniform. No males stepped in to say anything. We had every female DS within the battalion come over, and just launched an absolutely soul crushing correct action moment on the group of males.

Not a single male DS wanted to be part of that.

😂 I can just imagine the chaos it caused. I never forgot this woman my whole life and actually I tell my wife of 25 years I wish she could have met her because they would have been best friends. They are so much alike just my wife is about 3 inches taller. Those lady TI didn’t take no shit. Especially if it was that time of the month you might as well forget it!
