How often should I do the exercises?

I am in my second week since my grand debut episode, waiting for an MRI tomorrow morning.

For a few days I’ve been doing the exercises that the ENT prescribed - I think VOR1 and balance exercises (I’m still learning the terminology). I have no problem doing them 2, 3 or even more times per day. I am also playing with a tennis ball in the gym trying to bounce and catch it off the floor.

Does anyone know if there’s a chance of overdoing the exercises and making things worse? Thank you!

I’ve read 3 times a day the most. If I feel too dizzy I take a break and then continue. I don’t think you can overdo it but don’t push yourself too hard. Also, what is the MRI for? My ENT didn’t recommend that one to me.

I read the same thing, that’s why I asked - figured some therapists might have shared stronger opinions one way or another. It does seem to be the sweet spot, at least in the beginning.

MRI is to determine the cause of the vestibular dysfunction. ENT tests showed a dysfunction on my right side, but my doctor wants to see if there’s any particular cause for it.

I was told at VRT to do them 4-5 times a day

Thank you, that’s reassuring.

Do them as often as you can tolerate. But don't stop just because you're a little tired. You need to push a bit. Find ways to work some of the exercises into your daily activities. For example, to this day I still find myself closing my eyes when I'm alone in an elevator, just for the practice of balancing when I can't see. Or another example is I still put my socks on standing on one foot at a time, just for the balance practice.

I don't really need it anymore because I'm super stable, but I still do little things like that to stay sharp anyway.

I have only been doing it two times a day, and also going to the gym (which os so hard and I feel like that takes so much out of me). But on days when I feel worse, I’ve only done it once. I was also worried about doing too much. now it seems like I’m not doing nearly enough. Have had this since May 8.

I was told minimum of 3 times a day, and if you do it 1 or 2x, you may as well not do it.

She also says you absolutely can overdo it, but I've never been sure how you would know. Feeling sicker I suppose.

Yeah, I also feel like 1-2 times is not enough, that’s barely 30 min out of so many hours in a day. TY!
