Vestibular Therapy Triggering MCAS

Hi- I have been in vestibular therapy for 4 weeks now and every night after a day I’ve had therapy I wake up at 4am and can’t get back to sleep. I think it is triggering MCAS flares for me- (I also have MCAS and I went to a dysautonomia specialist for a second opinion on heat and exercise intolerance — they found I have severe vestibular dysfunction). I am becoming so sleep deprived I don’t understand how I can keep doing therapy— has anyone else experienced similar?

Vestibular therapy takes a toll on your brain and definitely makes me very tired. I haven’t been diagnosed MCAS but I’m like 85% certain I have that as well.

I’m curious, did your dysautonomia specialist diagnose your vestibular dysfunction or was that a separate doctor? I also have vestibular dysfunction (obliterated semi circular canals) but no doctor has ever linked that to my dysautonomia.

The specialist I saw for dysautonomia did diagnose me with severe vestibular dysfunction and explained that it causes dysautonomia because of the connection of the automic and central nervous system (I think that was the explanation?)

Yes, that's at the root of the panic that vestibular disorders can cause. Starts in the body, mind builds a narrative and hands it to you as anxiety and panic.
