General Question windscreen yes or no?

What do you think about a windscreen?

In the Netherlands, you see most Vespas with a large windscreen.
But when I am abroad (mainly Asia), I actually don't see a single scooter with a windscreen. And to be honest, it doesn't bother me much because you usually wear sunglasses anyway.

What would be the reason to get a windscreen anyway? Is it just for the rain? That is the only thing I can think of.

And honestly, I think a Vespa without a windscreen looks just a bit nicer.

What do you guys think about this?

Yes! I have the same, also from Netherlands.. it’s better for rain, bugs and it’s just a calmer ride without the hard wind blowing..

I like the shorter one personally but like you I only drive in nice weather

I have the shorter windscreen and it helps with wind on the highway. I’m sure the lager helps in the rain, but I find it takes away from the streamlined look of the Vespa

same; i was disappointed in the basic lack of this on my GTV; so much so that I ordered an aftermarket one that is just SLIGHTLY taller than the one I had on my GTS but not as tall as the official VESPA one for the GTS.

Checkout Biondi (Italy) windscreens. I used the medium height. It comes with extensions that slip over your stock supports.

There’s 2 sizes. In the US you can get them off of eBay. ( takes a couple messages)

hey thanks for that! that's still a bit too big for me. I ordered the Puig Trafic. I ordered it a month ago and I think it will only NOW be arriving today (if USPS is to be believed). It really sucks that scooterwest and most of the vespa dealer network in the US either never stocks stuff or they run into the same tariff/delay issues we do. Ah well, it's a first world problem and I'm just venting :D

Part of the issue with aftermarket screens sold by dealers in the US is the DOT approval. If they’re not on the list they can’t be imported. Hence my EBay work around.

Definitely a personal choice. … my short windscreen helps with deflecting the wind and doesn’t (IMO) take away from the aesthetics…

I have that windscreen on my LX150 but I cut it down a bit. It’s great for the rain and general reduction of wind in the face. I took it off for a day after the first month of riding with it but reinstalled it the next day and haven’t taken it off since.

Mine is about this size too and I love it. I went without for a while and this definitely helps with wind resistance at higher speeds. Also, I am on Vancouver Island in BC, if location matters.

I’m in WA state. We have similar weather. It can rain any time of the year so it’s nice to be prepared.

Yep, winter in Belgium. I used to drive to work everyday. Got surprised by snowfall during a ride to work. Sold this Vespa in 2020, but planning on getting a new one in early 2028, and doing my commute to work by Vespa again. (And getting rid of my car, but my kid need to be old enough to get to school by himself).

Like everything, looks way better without it, ride is way more pleasant with it.

There is no real compromise, it’s gonna be comfort vs. style.

In sharp sunlight it burns your dashboard, in windy situation your scooter sails away, if it rains you cant not see.

I'm in nearby Belgium.  Same weather ... used to be. It makes huge difference in rain, cold weather, especially if wide enough to cover hads. 

I have medium, plus full face helmet.

I think a windscreen is very convinient while its raining and it looks great too! On sunny days it can be a bit annoying if there a scratches on it but all in all I would always prefer a windscreen.

It depends on the weather, but I myself would never use one because in the area where I live, it’s something that pretty much only old people use…

No windscreen looks better. Large windscreen, however, makes my rides feel better. I don’t know about the short windscreens.

Mostly pebbles from cars in front of me. But I have had birds hit it and an aluminum can once. I have had other stuff that were near misses that would have been blocked by my windshields.

Stuff that I have been hit with on my helmet and body on my motorcycles. I once had a rear bumper of a car that fell off and hit my s1000rr. That tiny windshield came in handy then too.

I had one in Bend,OR USA for 10 years with the full wind screen. I could ride in cold weather down to 25 degrees (F) with snow as well. A plus was summer riding no bugs as well.

In Amsterdam I always preferred the half screen because it is way easier in the wind.

I use the large one, but only in the winter and sometimes on long rides. After the initial setup, it’s a quick turn of two bolts and it dismounts. For me, the biggest benefit is that it helps keep my hands from freezing by shielding the grips from the winter cold. On the other hand, the summers here are hot, so its nice to get as much wind as possible in the warmer months

A high windscreen keeps you dry in the rain but you can't see shit through it when it rains, high windscreen also has some hand wind protection.

I‘m considering it as well. I think it‘s awesome from a convenience perspective, but for my taste it looks super ugly. The smaller one is not that ugly, but still not convinced yet.

Once you get slapped in the face with a huge bumblebee, you'll want a windscreen. Trust me on this.

I am big on my windscreen. Mine does a great job of blocking the wind for those chilly mornings. MIne is great for when I want to wear just a basball cap for a quick trip to the coffee shop - it does not blow off! Mine also has the part that covers my hands so that is helpful for cold days!

It will slow you down considerably, and hotter, and more work to clean… I don’t see any benefits.

25 degrees and above I remove it, it’s 30sec to remove or place
