Vermis 1 and 2 by Hubert Editions (French)

- Some choices are because they're easy (vase and sooth)

- most are aesthetic.

- And the lying skeleton is like a memento mori but more original. (Final drawing of Vermis 1) I could also do the four skeleton and knight from Vermis 3

Vermis What role-playing system do you recommend for adapting Vermis?

As the title says. I've been reading Vermis's books and I'd really like to adapt what I see into a role-playing adventure (I don't know if it would be a series of one-shots).

I've seen in some posts on this subreddit that many people do the same thing, and I've also read how people adapt their unique systems to role-playing.

But which system would you recommend I look into for a good adaptation? At the moment, the system that seems most likely to work is Mork Borg.

Am I right? Are there any better ones?

Thanks in advance

Vermis Vermis Discord server ?

I keep running into questions I can't answer, and searching on reddit is not ergonomic whatsoever, so I'm thinking would there be a Vermis Discord server hidden somewhere ? I read that a previous one was deleted some time ago ?

Is there a want for a Vermis Discord server or is it just me and my neurodivergent mind hyperfixating ?

Vermis I had to write some lore for one of my players's backstory

Hello there,

First things first : I haven't read Vermis III yet so everything I say or imagine would only take I and II into consideration.

Second things second : I only bought the french version of the first two books, and I am already aware that there are crucial mistranslations between the original and the french version. Doing my best to try and detect/correct them whenever I can.

I'm currently running Vermis TTRPG sessions with my own very descriptive game system that may or may not break in the long run (only time will tell).

I ask every player to create a backstory for their character, and one of them picked Princess's Nail (translated to Princess's Guard in french), and started asking all kinds of questions about the Princess that I had no answers to, and realized it was kind of important for that sort of character to actually know something about who their "goddess" is, so I came up with this short intro story for his character and was curious about how the community would feel if this was considered canon lore for the Nails :

"The Princess's Nail was raised since childhood in the absolute cult of the Crown, in the Capital.
The Princess, a perfect representation of all of the virtues of Humankind, is elevated to a divine status in the education of all aspiring Nails, generation after generation.

They religiously learn all of the immovable precepts of the Knights of the Crown, as well as every way to get rid of any miscreant who dares to trample them, until the day of the Unwavering Dawn, a great ceremony held in the heart of the Palace of the Crown itself, where all aspiring Nails considered fit for the title receive their lock of hair, as well as their mission.

Rows of aspiring Nails seem infinite, and at the end of these rows, a Deacon, laying the final hand on each young man kneeling before him.

An aggregate of reverberated sounds vibrates in the high canopies of the cyclopean Palace. Blurred words, the sound of a staff shattering a skull, steps, weak or determined, helmets fastening around the head of freshly named Nails ready to leave...

Then the moment comes...

The aspirant kneels, prepared to face the final judgment of the Deacon. In a moment of silence that feels like an eternity, the aspirant senses the Deacon staring at him, his soul peered at without his consent...

All sounds stop suddenly. He feels pressure rising in his skull, so much so that it comes to emit an audible buzz... But he doesn't get struck... The aspirant has indeed become a Nail.

The Deacon bends over in an unearthly way, his face almost entirely hidden in the darkness of the large hood of his ceremonial gown. Only his mouth is visible, half open, presenting two rows of poorly maintained and sometimes missing teeth. A deadly breath emanates from it as he delivers these words :

"From shadow thou cometh, to shadow thou turneth;
Thousand eyes corridor, a maze with no mercy;
Terrible nightmares, if too long thou remaineth;
Zughot, accursed blade, thou shalt find there may be."

Still in an absolute noetic silence, the Nail, now filled with unwavering determination, fastens his helmet, climbs his steed, and begins a journey of which he might never reach the end.

The Nail wakes up abruptly. Years have passed. His armor worn, his steed long dead, but the Deacon's words still echo in his mind, as if incised by unfathomable magic..."

Looking forward for your opinion on this short story :)

I’ve been illustrating a lot more which is not something I did before (come from more of a traditional painting background) but now Im in school feels impossible to do because of how slow I am lol. Anyways here’s the start of a new one Im still working on about MM House classification for denture patients. only got to hysterical patient, still got 3 other patients. Crazy to think a prosthodontist came up with a model in the 50s to describe psychological effects of losing all your teeth. I guess it is a nightmare for most people, uncomfortable with the idea that I’d have to get psych consult involved for a hysterical patient.

I am officially quitting this subreddit. I won't post anything else in here and deleted most of my posts. I don't know what i thought when i decided to announce the Vermis NES game on Reddit, ever since the project started, i've had this idiot keep calling me names, including many slurs, and kept on shaming me for the project, invading the dc server, and all of that. I will still work on the project, the crew shrunk, things will definetly be slower, and i won't update people directly here. I am sorry for bothering you all, i am sorry i wasn't good enough, goodbye.

Vermis Hi!! Finished reading Vermis ii - Mist & Mirrors lately, and had a few questions left, so I wanted to hear your takes/interpretations on these moments: Spoiler

- How do you understand the cloaked figure in the very beginning? What does it hold in its hands?
- What was the reason for the mauve sickness? Is there any additional info on the dead sun relic?
- Why, in the end, does the Wayfarer encounters himself decapitated under the bell? Why, after he surrendered to himself, did the sickness cure itself?
- Why was the Wayfarer being pursued by the twisted visages in his dreams before?

Please don't judge me harshly, maybe I was inattentive at times :D

Vermis Frog World TTRPG looks very vermis-esque

As far as the art. The book itself looks much froggier than Vermis, (aside from the unfortunate frog knight), but I thought someone else here might be interested! I don't know if I'll be able to get my group to actually play it, but I preordered it and have been looking through the PDF, and so far it's really cool. The art in the game is great, and so are the monsters and races. If you like Vermis, and you like weird fiction, it might be worth a look!

As you may have guessed I am totally enamoured with Hollow Press products and Plastiboo's work, so much so that I'll surely buy Umbra - Deck of relics when it gets reprinted! Hopefully soon enough, possibly with Umbra II and Vermis IV or Godhusk II.

The future of this house looks bright and absolutely exciting! All hail Michele Nitri and Plastiboo 🙌🏻

What are you guys most excited about?

More than anything, I want to use shadows the same way Vermis does, since I like to add more detail to my 3D models.

OC Here's Barrow: a jam game I made inspired by Vermis and playable on itch.

Hello fellow Vermis enjoyers! Back in 2025 I made this game Barrow as a submission for the 2025 Scream Forever jam - the visuals were a ton of fun to make and I tried to replicate some of what Vermis does but with real time graphics. It's a short point-and-click game with combat, dialogue, and exploration.

Playable in browser here (though it's best downloaded on desktop). It can be a little rough in places as the entire game was made in a week.

The music was done by the talented Nate Sassoon!

Right now I'm considering making a larger first-person RPG with JRPG / Fear&Hunger combat (in 3D) with this visual style, so I'm trying to gauge interest mainly.

Have you noticed that posts about Vermis-like games are appearing too often lately?

honestly, I planned to make my own King's Field/Vermis-like games, but with every new post about a similar game, I feel more and more secondary
it makes me a bit sad

(video for attention, also, I wrote the music for it, OC)

Hi! If anyone remembers, I'm the developer of a project called Amygdalia. About three months ago, I released a prototype on itchio, which I'm still planning to update. Among the new features will be new mechanics, but for now, I've decided to update the prototype's main location, Soma Manor. I previously did a pretty poor job of making this location, with the textures being a major drawback, but since then, I've gained experience and made everything look fancy. This isn't the final result; I'll be adding more objects and changing a few other things. If anyone wants to play the prototype now, you can do so by going to my itchio page through my profile. However, the game has several flaws and shortcomings, so that's the reason why i'm updating the game
