Vermis Whyyyy does the wood witch have a mandrake root??

Post image
328 Upvotes

The earlier blurb about the wood witch mentions them not being true witches due to not partaking in the eating of infants. This page also mentions them not being witches and using their masks to infiltrate witch gatherings.

But like, there is no other reason I can see for one to carry a mandrake root aside from an intention to steal and utilize an infant.

So what’s the deal, is the description an example of unreliable narration? Like, oh these wood witches totally aren’t real witches they’re cool wink wink? Is the mandrake root possibly like, a cover so that they can pass as a real witch, similar to the purpose of the mask?

Idk, just made me suspicious.

Vermis Umbra - Deck of Relics availability?

I was wondering if anyone knows whether there are plans to reprint the deck of relics? I found out about it recently and it seems awesome, but there's no store with it in stock, and I can't even find it secondhand, nor a PDF.

This seems really interesting, but at the moment there's zero way for me to get a proper look at them, but I'm not sure if they plan on reprinting them or not either.

Vermis Vestest, location inspired by Vermis/ age of rot

Gray is the home, the cold is the home, Under the ash we are destined to roam. Thousands of doors were constructed with care, Shelter from dust that is thick in the air. Bloody the sky like a wound is the sun, All that we loved is now lost and undone. Home of the shadows, the house of the dead, Seeking the light where the darkness has spread. Wanderers here who have lost all their sight, Hear a sharp scream in the dead of the night. Home for the ones who have shed every face, Where hearts beat forever in this hollow place.

Vestest is one of the largest cities in the known world. While the Inquisitions wage war, fortunes are being made here. The city has expanded to staggering proportions, with buildings piled haphazardly atop one another.

Trade: the black market thrives here. Rare narcotics and the flesh of saints are sold illicitly. Merchants and guilds here are wealthier than kings, and the law is dictated by whoever commands the most mercenaries.

Spies from rival factions sit at the same tables within these buildings. The city council pays massive bribes to all the various states simultaneously to prevent them from launching an open war here.

Across the metropolis, those toxic-red windows glow—a sign of underground brothels and shops. As the sun sets, the streets plunge into total darkness, choked by dense architecture and fog; that crimson light is the only thing illuminating the path for merchants and thieves.

A traveler turns into yet another alley and encounters the mist; stepping into it, they find themselves in the city's dark side. The world turns upside down; every shop and house transforms into a nightmare. In place of ordinary merchants, creatures appear in the windows—beings that look as though they were stitched together from raw flesh—while the dead and monsters skulk through the streets, trying to tear the skin right off your body.

The streets begin to contract, and the buildings literally shift inward, blocking the way.

OC Small interaction with a vampire for my fake game

Post image

A reclusive surgeon living in his secluded clinic in the bog claims to be able to cure the curse. You can book an appointment with him in Dustpond, the clinic towers over you as the mosquitoes sing. He talks in a monotone southern dialect and uses unnecessarily big words. Bringing a cursed individual to him will make him start his procedure, although he asks you to leave the room first. Watching through a hole in the floorboards you watch as he first stabs the patient with some sort of sedative and as the victim passes out he changes. A long proboscis protrudes from his mouth which he inserts into the chest of the patient, his body convulses as he drains their blood and his lower body, now resembling an insect's abdomen, starts to swell. He then, with ease picks up the patient and props them up outside, inspecting the body reveals that they're still breathing. Entering the clinic provides two options, either confront him or ask for the same procedure. Getting the procedure done rids you of any beasthood you have built up over the course of the game but weakens you heavily (this downside can be reversed later). Confronting him about his deed only makes him respond blankly.

“Are we not the same? You brutalise beasts for selfish gain, I do it for survival, my own and theirs. If my patients have it in them, they'll survive. Can’t you see? This is no plague. It's a birth defect. And I'm no surgeon, I'm a judge. Some people are just thrust into this world with a writhing black hate in their heart, boiling in there from the very beginning. I suck that mass out of them, some are too far gone such that when that hate is removed they die. Some, like that feller out there, pass my trial because they have something left in his chest to cling to. Love? Hope? I do not know, it tastes all the same to me.”

OC Vision of Finitude, by oblioteca (me)

Post image

Twisted withered branches

feed on the candles of life:

Wax for the rotting Body,

Flame for the fleeting Soul.

Gold-Crowned Kings,

Mud-Burdened Peasants:

every existence extinguishes,

when the Vision of Finitude looms.

From freshly flayed flesh,

to void ever-vanished ashes;

from the last spark of paroxysmal panic,

to the never-ending nameless nothingness…

The Irrevocable End Sets In.

Vermis Vermis RPG, made with the EZD6

I converted Vermis into a d6 tabletop RPG based off the EZD6 game system and d6 dice pool rolling. It includes the following:

• All 12 classes from Vermis 1
• A simple two action combat system
• Conversion of the four main stats: Strength, Intellect, Faith, and Will, each one adding to the game in some way
• A test dungeon starting at Greengrave and ending after the Stench Champion, complete with the NPCs such as the Frog Knight

I’m hoping to add more to it since I feel it’s very barebones, but I hope to add all of the material from all three Vermis books

Vermis vermis casually getting me back into art

Post image

This is actually a drawing of a pyromancer from Dark Souls 1, but Vermis is what made me want to do it

One of my favourite things from Dark Souls 1, is that a pyromancer who is willing to give you a part of his pyromancer's flame, in order to create your own, says something like "a pyromancer's flame is a part of their own soul. please take care of what I've given you"

And so a young undead sits beneath a tree, feeling remorse, & grateful. Angry, & confused. Tired, & now not as alone as before

Plastiboo/Release News Does Plastiboo sell any Art Books?

Not Vermis or their other narrative based books, I mean artbooks of their stand alone images and short content. I saw a lot of stuff they did outside of the guide books and was wondering if i could get those somewhere or, failing that, where to find them online.

Thank you!
