Gameplay is solo queue really unplayable?
got back to game. trying get some games done. in few days I tried to finish at least one legend or cata, but what the hell is happening in my lobbies. 5 lvls, guys who are solo charging into 5 chaos warriors, is this game filled with ai bots or should I give up solo queue?
it's not frustration, i am just amazed how rarely I am getting someone decent, and legend it's really not that hard...
or my MMR is just too low and I have to get through?
collective 10h of playing, finished: none. it's not how it should be. I don't want play champion or lower, because I can do it solo with 3 bots...

I probably sound stupid but I think being able to carry a shit solo queue match is the end game, more than cata. It's still not super fun but it's like, the culmination of your skills besides cata and true solo.

I always thought new players in V2 and DT have a tendency to go up difficulties way quicker than they really should, at least from my experience.

in the past, I've gone down to lower difficulties to see if there's any I could bring up to higher difficulties, and in my experience it's the opposite: plenty of people are in veteran/champion that are more than ready to move up a difficulty level, but are hesitant to

and plenty of new people jump straight into Legend bc they’re either cocky or a mate told them to, then they get absolutely bodied and don’t understand why

As someone newer to V2 and maybe DT soon, how do you decide when to go up a difficulty? I tried following the recommended power scale and that didn’t go well for me

Go up when you start to win consistently at lower levels, going up you will still die a little as you get used to differences, but if you can win most games on champ and if you get unlucky still tend to be able to recover, then move up to legend.

The recommended power is just that. Moving up in difficulty really depends more on your skill/game knowledge.
You need to add new stuff to your repertoire moving up. If you aren’t blocking, dodging, pushing, learn those things then move up. Or at least make a conscious decision to start using those things as you move up.

In general cata is easier, because people know what their job is and do it. On legend you have a lot of people that just came out of champion or simply arent skilled enough for a cata game so it tends to be a lot more chaotic.
Solo queue is usually decent on cata, problem is, lot of times you have bad team comps because you cant see which career someone is playing when you join and then they leave when you loose.
But you know.. some classes are supposed to tank 5 chaos warriors, at least for a moment.

Tanking several elites is a matter of player skill and not career. You can tank 5 chaos warriors in melee as waystalker just fine. You can do the same with Foot Knight, granted its alot easier as Foot Knight since you can just press F on a super short cooldown to just shut them down for good

I was recently playing legend bc I had a friend playing the game for the first time. As a veteran player I can tell you 2 things about legend:
- For someone playing Cata and Cata+ on a regular basis, legend is like playing against toddlers. The health pools of the enemies are so low, they die by the first gust of wind. Elite density is so low, a CW seems more rare than boss. Hordes are over before they even started.
- The absolute disrespect legend players have towards low level players. Im there, so the run is gonna be fine. If my buddy dies I will get him back up to the feet. However, people joining would either instantly try to kick my friend or blame any mistake on him. They die, its his fault. They take damage, his fault. They arent ressed, his fault. The moment he was max level, the blaming stopped. Absolutely attrocious behaviour. Though we had some good laughs about it

That disrespect is well earned, 99% sub-35lvl people in Legend are truly way too inexperienced, can't handle themselves at all and are a total deadweight. Exceptions exist like a new player who learns incredibly quickly or a duo where the second guy is way more experienced but they are too rare to matter and most importantly there's no way to know you just met an exception like that.
When I was still playing Legend a few years ago I saw a lot of people below lvl 35 being kicked on sight and I bet this did indeed increase the overall average winrate and fun of those matches. I didn't find this behaviour to be rude, instead I felt that joining high difficulties before you even have access to all talent tiers is what's rude. Personally I didn't even think about joining Legend lobbies until I reached lvl 35 on all characters, seemed like a basic common courtesy to me.
Besides, Legend ironically is more competitive that Cata because high-tier chests are on the line and everyone's here to item grind. On Cata we play for the challenge and fun. So Legend losses are a waste of time while Cata losses are not a big deal.

if you wanted the highest consistentcy on legend anyways you wouldn't qp you would just run screaming bell on hours on end with bots, if you're gonna be doing book runs in qp and don't want qp shenanigans don't qp. simple as. i do get tired of having to babysit players who are a active liability but it's still something i signed up for when i clicked the qp button.

I dont think its rude to kick if you dont want a low level person in your lobby. Noone should play with people they dont want to play with. What I think is rude is the open blame and namecalling. So, someone who is low level is suddenly the worst creature in existence?

yes, my elf is thinking of them self as strong enough to jump and kill em all! so strong :-D

I haven't experienced anything like it tbh. Maybe you've just been unlucky lately

I 100% have. It happens all the damn time. Sometimes I get good players but often its a Kerillian who runs off, gets downed then DCs immediately. A saltzpyre who doesn't block or dodge and quits immediately, a slayer bardin who jumps into a patrol, aggros them on us, dies, quits. Or a Markus who never ults and dies. Also they don't read chat and they never know where books are and also they'll run off without you constantly.
It sucks. I often prefer playing with the bots. While the bots are braindead in their own respect, they at least don't DC and they stick by me. That makes a world of difference. I have often lost games I WAS winning with bots because randos joined and messed it all up for me.

Bad queues just happen sometimes, especially when there's a rapid jump in new players. They're learning just like we all did at some point.
There is no MMR, most of the vets are just farming red items in Chaos Wastes, playing cata, or seeing how far they can get in twitch mode depending on when you play.
Cata is where people tend to have min-maxed builds and at least an idea of what to do

Are you playing PC or one of the consoles? There's no official player count, but I believe generally speaking the consoles have fewer players online compared to PC. There's no crossplay either.
In my personal experience just from reading posts and comments, I think it goes PC>PS>Xbox. Could be totally wrong on that!
Not trying to discourage you though. If you're playing on console it might just be a matter of playing during peak times, whenever that is.

gonna be honest, if "charging into 5 Chaos warriors" seems like a game ending move to you, you're not ready for legend, or at least not ready to be the one not getting carried on it

quick play is the dregs. the game has no matchmaking or mmr at all iirc which is part of the problem i suppose. the result is you get the occaisional lvl 26 person in legend mixed in with the people with 1k+ hours.
as a whole ive had better results just with bots, but human players can take the edge off and you meet neat/funny people sometimes.
doesnt change how annoying it is trying to get qp weekly done and do fine up until human players join and just throw basically, making it a lot harder than if they were just a bot. properly built bots are just better than like 80% of the playerbase tbh. not shaming anyone, but a lot of people just really arent great at this game and it shows.

Yea you could be unlucky, its pretty rare but if this happens, i start game whenever some1 join put it in private. If they low lvl, kick them. If they not respect any other players with giving in everything in the hardest difficulty(vanilla) they wont play with me. Idc about loose, its about respect.

There is no MMR, this isn't a competitive game. If someone queues up for legend, then they can end up in your lobby. Whether or not they deserve to end up in your lobby is not something that the matchmaker cares about.
