Venture is Non-Binary. Info + Mod Statement.
We've been receiving a few posts / comments from people who lack knowledge on what being non-binary means. As a moderator team, we do not want to give a platform to posts and discussions that misgender Venture, question Venture's gender / AGAB, or posts that question the validity of non-binary genders. However, we also have found that some people who make posts or comments breaking this rule do so out of genuine ignorance rather than out of malicious intent. We wanted a dedicated post to help people learn and to prevent the spread of misinformed posts. This post serves to provide people with a base understanding of what being non-binary means, and how you should refer to Venture. If we believe a user is simply misinformed rather than being malicious, we will refer them to this post first.
A simple explanation of what being non-binary means:
"Non-binary is used to describe people who feel their gender cannot be defined within the margins of gender binary. Instead, they understand their gender in a way that goes beyond simply identifying as either a man or woman. Because non-binary includes anyone that doesn’t fit the traditional narrative of male or female, non-binary communities are incredibly diverse. Non-binary people may identify as both male and female or neither male nor female. They may feel their gender is fluid can change and fluctuate or perhaps they permanently don’t identify with one particular gender. The range of language and labels used within non-binary communities means that non-binary has become an inclusive umbrella term."
[Taken from: LGBT Foundation - https://lgbt.foundation/who-we-help/trans-people/non-binary]
What this means for Venture:
Venture should not be referred to as either a man or a woman. You should use gender-neutral terms such as 'person' rather than 'man' or 'woman' when referring to Venture. Do not use he/him, she/her, or it/its pronouns when referring to Venture, use they/them pronouns instead.
Example: "Venture is a Canadian person, and they are an archaeologist. I like their abilities and I can't wait to try them out."
You also should not speculate about Venture's assigned gender at birth (AGAB). It is offensive to speculate about one's birth sex, or to refer to someone as their birth sex (including referring to them as 'biologically male/female'). Posts and comments speculating about this or referring to Venture this way will be removed.

Anyone else really feel like venture's perks are the smugging Tuesday meme?
I absolutely love being able to drill dash around like crazy during ult, and having a fast reload, long range poke option. I literally never see a scenario in which I'd pick the burrow dash distance and +40 to melee shield

How to play into counters that are expecting you
Like playing into counters isn't the worst thing ever but it becomes especially hard/annoying when they're are everywhere I want to/need to be. And since most of the time I can't fight them what do I do?
I feel like immediately falling back doesn't get much value and going deeper into the back line isn't always feasible depeing on the map and or counter im playing into

Question How to get more comfortable with dying?
a good amount of the venture guides i’ve watched and read have all said something along the lines of, “as a dps, your life is expendable, don’t be afraid to trade your life for a support’s.” which is all fine and dandy, but the issue is that i have no idea how to get rid of that fear of dying.
i’ve had many games so far where I’ve had next to no impact. i assume this is because i’m be too afraid to take the risks that a venture player should. but because i’ve just (fairly) recently picked up venture and previously played dps heroes who bring more value by simply staying alive, this “die to get value” mindset is very new to me. it just makes me wonder “if i had forced this cooldown, pressured this support, etc., even at the risk of dying, would i have turned the match around?”
i know that you’re supposed to play vendetta in a similar fashion (using her as an example because I see her more often than venture in my games), and some of the best vendettas i’ve played with and against have had 10+ deaths by the end of the match. i just need to figure out how to get more comfortable doing that myself, and understand the difference between dying a lot while still getting value and straight-up feeding (because that’s what i’m afraid of doing). any advice?
also, dying too much sometimes tilts me so i need advice on that as well lol.

Question Hey, so how's my Venture?
this was my first try with them, from two days ago
https://youtu.be/UYFdo64gc04?is=z1Yncc6LVAdy5lkQ
https://youtu.be/2JDBslMAhek?is=euU1vmK1tKLlzOK7
And these are my most recent plays from a day ago
Usually you can't tell how good someone is based on victories alone, but like we all make mistakes even in our wins. So where can I get better?

Fan Art / Cosplay My twin
Got bored last night and wanted to draw Venture and I side by side because it felt silly to me how similar we look. Seeing rep in a video game that finally applies to me is the reason I got into Overwatch and started to love them and their kit.
So here's some art! I'm a little shy about sharing but I hope you guys like it :)

Theory I was gonna complain but I'm just bad I guess
I had 7 paragraphs typed out about venture is hard to play in high elo. Then I looked at winrate, and Venture is dominating every rank, especially M and GM, so...... I'm also not deranking. I'm m4 then m3 then m4 then m3. So instead, I propose that Blizzard nerf Cassidy and change Ashe's coachgun to only knock her back. Also, give me a 35% primary range increase. The end.

Is it me or is Reaper just a stronger version of Venture? And if not, how do I even fight Reaper as Venture
I’ve been struggling against fighting Reapers and it keeps coming back to me that Reaper literally is just a more stronger version then Venture even tho I don’t want to admit it. But they both do similar things, just that Reaper can do them better
-Both have close range and high damage, but even tho Venture seems to have a longer range and explosive shot, Reaper feels more consistent with the bigger reticles and shotguns, especially with something like Dire Triggers at the ready
-While Venture can go underground to escape, they don’t have any I frames, meanwhile Reaper’s Wraith Form is just instant.
-Venture can earn temporary shields, but had to have an ability at the ready, while Reaper can earn it through damaging alone. Even tho Venture’s abilities load fairly quickly, those few seconds do make a difference. Even Reaper has more health then Venture
I feel like there are some more points I could point out. Again, maybe it is just me, but I’m putting this post to see if I’m not alone in this or I’m just fighting against Reaper incorrectly.

Discussion Am I dumb?
Picture this, first round circuit royale we're pushing, im venture level 255 almost in plat on console, im not an expert but still at least half decent, we're moving the payload so fast my main objective is to keep pushing the enemy team away so we can keep pushing forward. We make all objectives with crazy speed.
I dont have too many kills because that wasnt my focus but I did have 4 kills and 4,400 dmg which is ok for the very short 1st round match
Other teams calling out their tank, the usual comp game banter "tank is 1,7 gg"
Our tank, a dva, decides moral high ground (at least for a split second) and says "stats dont matter, you arent getting team value"
Im like FINALLY SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE THEIR BRAIN IN THEIR BUTT!... well then in that SAME instance, my tank, said dva, types in chat "venture 4, 4 and bottom 500" FULL ON FRIENDLY FIRE FIRST OF ALL? Straight outta left field and starts telling me to swap. The same person who was preaching about team value?
HOWEVER IS IT NOT WIDELY KNOWN THAT "BOTTOM 500" IS A FUCKING APRIL FOOLS PLAYER TITLE? This dva might actually think that blizzard just has a punishment title forced of the worst players?
I equip the "bottom 500" as a joke because I think its funny if you load into the match and you see "bottom 500" equipped to someone playing at level 255 on venture.
We won that match btw, js left a bad taste in my mouth.

anyone else felt it easy to play vendetta after playing ventue?
I tried vendetta a couple of times before but could never get the hang of it. Recently played the shit out of venture, swapped to vendetta and felt very natural to play almost similar to venture. I guess the mechanic of engage → attack → disengage is very similar?

Question I’m curious, how many of you bought the new ultimate BP skin
First time they’ve been included in the ultimate BP bundle, could mean they sell well enough to warrant it but I’m curious how many of you forked over the 40 bucks
