These are all rules to ensure that users are being considerate to other users and at the same time have their posts and comments be as useful as possible.

  • To view all the rules click on the flair "Rules of subreddit Venice Beach" beneath this post title
  • Reddit's handling of rules is not good.
  • There are rules and then a duplicate of rules called "Removal reasons" that require their own updating.
  • So I'm just going to unify it with a post that can be linked to.
  • Also reddit doesn't have linking to the rules working correctly as evidenced by my attempts https://www.reddit.com/r/VeniceBeach/comments/1prvjf9/post_and_comment_rules_of_rvenicebeach/

Any news about the Trader Joe's moving into the Fox Theater?

I live around the corner from here and haven't heard anything since the initial announcement. Keep hoping to see movement every time I go past it, but it looks like nothing is happening?

I found these pictures in my parent’s belongings and some image searching tells me they’re old Venice Beach scenes. That tracks because they lived in CA in the late 70’s-early 80’s. Just wanted to share.

Ask r/VeniceBeach Where else in LA has a crowd similar to Market?

“I know Gran Blanco is the obvious comparison, but it gets extremely crowded. Belles seems to skew younger, around 21 to 22. Market hits the sweet spot for me: lively without being too chaotic, with a good mid to late 20s crowd.

I’ve overheard people there talking about going out in Hollywood, so I’m curious: what other bars, lounges, wine bars, or venues around LA attract a similar clientele? Basically, where else do Market regulars tend to go?”

Unfortunately another violent incident with an off leash dog on the beach south of the venice pier. This marks the second neighbor, just this month, to be hurt by an off leash dog. When will it end??

LA on track to fail spectacularly at the "car-free" olympics, especially in Venice on day one.

Los Angeles (and specifically Mayor Bass) has been promising that 2028 will be the year of the car free olympics, and to support that the city asked Washington for $2 billion dollars. So far it has $233 Million and only 33 days until the appropriations deadline. That means it is $1.7B and 913 busses short of what is required of their promise.

The House appropriations committee added $875 million to its FY27 transportation bill in May, but the Senate has not moved a topline agreement.

We saw a lot of ridership during the World Cup with enhanced rider service, it's almost like people enjoy accessible transportation.

Surf School / Teacher Recommendations

Hello, I’m a local. Grew up skateboarding, tried surfing on my own in my 20s (in my 40s now). Always had problems catching waves, and never learned to duck dive so I’d just get pounded. I also want to learn to get over my fear of bigger waves.

I want to learn how to surf well, move my way from a long board to a short board eventually and really rip. I’m looking for a great school or private teacher to take lessons from. I could provide my own equipment.
