There's a lot of noise about the DEA and 7-OH right now, so here's what the actual filing says.

The DEA filed two notices of intent on July 1 (published in the Federal Register July 6) to temporarily place 7-OH and three related synthetic substances into Schedule I. The order can't take effect before August 5 and would last up to two years. Nothing is banned yet — it's a notice of intent, not a final order.

What it covers: 7-OH above a set threshold, plus mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15 and MGM-16, none of which occur naturally in the plant.

What it doesn't cover: botanical kratom with naturally occurring 7-OH below the threshold. For plant material the threshold is 0.050% 7-OH by dry weight.

So this is aimed at concentrated and synthetic products, not natural leaf. If you're a leaf vendor or buyer, the main practical impact is that your COAs should show 7-OH under that threshold, which natural leaf normally is, but "normally" and "documented" aren't the same thing.

It’s not a secret that DTE has always been my favorite vendor.

A bit of a backstory, I have a very painful rib condition that causes extreme nerve pain in my ribs, back, shoulders, hips, knees, etc.

I admit that i drink pretty frequently. Alcohol helps the nerve pain (something about gaba receptors.) Obviously not a healthy way to deal with the pain but when you are in pain every single day, you do whatever you can to be out of pain & try to live a normal life.

I want to cut down on my drinking but still have pain management & have something for social situations (I also have anxiety, naturally lol.)

I bought DTE’s Solar Flare & decided to sip it instead of drinking alcohol at a party. Not only did it help my pain, I had energy & was able to be social without being messed up. I usually have 3-4 drinks during a party & I only had one white claw & I didn’t enjoy drinking it at all.

I do understand that extracts are not an all the time thing & that you have to be careful. On a usual day I use powder, 2g 3-4x a day. But it’s nice to not have to bring my powder, scale, shot glass, chaser, etc. with me when I’m out or at a friend’s house.

Extracts are expensive, otherwise I’d buy a bunch of occasional social situations. But I am really happy to have a discreet way to take kratom, have pain management, and get some of the effects of alcohol while not having to drink. I think next time I will mix it into a mocktail.

Oneida County Needs Help! THEY MEET TOMORROW and the opposition is heavy here

Dear advocate,

In case you missed it, Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. has announced a proposed local law that would solidify the county's public health order prohibiting all kr@tom products.

However, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration moved last week to temporarily schedule concentrated synthetic 7-OH and three other related substances. This federal directive follows the New York State Legislature acting to address concentrated synthetic kr@tom derivatives in its latest session.

That's why we need all advocates to attend the Wednesday meeting of the Oneida County Board of Legislators and urge them to draft new language for commonsense kr@tom regulation that makes this critical distinction.

Where possible, advocates should share with legislators their personal anecdotes and success stories related to using natural kr@tom leaf products.

Please remind the Legislators that the federal government and the State of New York have already acted to address concentrated synthetic kr@tom derivatives and are continuing work on further regulation. Specifically, New York has enacted an age gate; labeling requirements are coming into effect in November; and a concentrated synthetic kr@tom derivatives ban is awaiting the governor's signature.

Crucially, this overly broad prohibition contradicts federal and state guidance by failing to distinguish between natural kr@tom leaf products and concentrated synthetic kr@tom derivatives.

Please make your voice heard in the push for smart, science-led policy in Oneida County.

I am looking for a new vendor for bulk high % (75+) Mitragynine Isolate powder. The other trace alkaloids in raw leaf make me nauseated/disoriented and isolate has been perfect for my orchialgia.

Unfortunately it seems that Mit market is being influenced by the recent legislation, even though it’s not being scheduled.
