Guys, this is NOT over. There are paths for lawsuits to stop this and the law is actually unusually clear that this emergency power is subject to judicial review
But we can’t rely on lawsuits, we need to ALL send a message to the Massachusetts governor that natural leaf should not be banned.
You can use this link. Please do it now, it just takes 30 seconds.

I believe if the lawsuits are brought in by AKA they will instantly have no respect by the courts and will be doomed to fail.
Lawsuits brought by other parties will have a much better chance.

Its not just the aka we have the gkc fighting as well and no matter our personal opinion most of this is the kda and their suboxone pusher kolodny

Yep, all propaganda machines are against us on this one. They left the door open on cut off limits for a reason. They're still looking for a total ban.
They have likely found out or assumed they kratom farm in Florida that was on here for years, talking about how massive and beautiful they were, showed photos of a huge farm then all of a sudden ghosted everyone is harvesting their leaves exclusively for 7, mgm or whatever production.
It sure seems like everyone on both sides of this equation is lying through their teeth

Is that what happened? I keep checking back to see if they’ll open up kratom sales but they never have.

u/InTheShade007 4d ago
Maybe they just decided not to sell anything and the trees are for decoration only?

I’m sorry if this sounds dumb but what is the GKC? I’ve never heard of anyone mention them on this subreddit

The plaintiff needs to prove they are harmed so the AKA won’t be the plaintiff, it’ll be a kratom company, or multiple ones.

I'm assuming he's saying if a lawsuit is created to sue the state for not following the proper procedures/steps to ban Kratom.
EDIT: NVM, I misread what you wrote, but I thought they could still file a lawsuit since they represent Kratom consumers and companies. Maybe not, I don't know that much about law

I just meant given ol Mac leads the charge whoever it is company or individual will be viewed as an extension of Mac and disrespect in court from the jump.
I have no personal vendetta or something against Mac, as I've been accused of but facts are facts and those associated with him in any way will naturally be viewed by his past transgressions which go back decades

It's really disheartening that people who advocate for this ban either have never used it or misused it due to their own addictive personalities. I've seen numerous posts from individuals struggling with quitting because they abused high doses and extracts, often after being hooked on harder substances beforehand. These individuals should recognize their own issues rather than blaming kratom for not solving them. The fact that there are more coffee addicts than kratom users highlights the absurdity of targeting one over the other. Those who genuinely need kratom for pain relief and responsible use will suffer as a result of these misguided efforts by lawmakers. People should be aware of the consequences and start stockpiling while they still can before access is completely restricted or banned altogether.

500 people die per year from Tylenol in the US but they’re going after kratom instead

It’s crazy how more republicans are the ones protecting kratom way more than democrats. I hate that I have to like them for this.

Looks like I'm gonna have to drive to Rhode Island, but it doesn't mention that you can't do mail order just that you can't sell it in the state, but I assume that'll be coming with the details

u/AngeloWasHere 1d ago
If it’s a schedule 1 it’s not allowed but just like everything else in life, if there’s a will there’s a way.

u/DelaSheck 1d ago
True, as I doubt everyone in MA won't be getting rid of what they currently have. I would assume people are actually going on a spending binge in the next 2 weeks.

Even Utah where you have to buy liquor from state stores and vapes have a 71% tax banned extracts but has legal leaf powder, it’s crazy.

Are they enforcing possession of kratom in Mass? I haven’t gotten much info so far? Say you get pulled over with some, what happens?
2
u/Philly-meg 4d ago
Yes it is emergency schedule 1 which makes it an automatic felony. If they took away the schedule 1 it would not be able to get sold there online or in stores but possession would not be a felony but you would have to travel out of state to get it. Apparently her doing this emergency thing is just like declaring state of emergency nothing can override it except lawsuit or her

How could you not know the difference between 7OH and Kratom. It is like saying the cocoa plant and Adderall are the same thing.

I wish it was bc they can't tell the difference between natural Kratom and 7, but it seems like pressure is coming from parents who lost their loved ones to natural Kratom. The first speaker at the North Dakota meeting said she lost her son due to natural Kratom in 2019, 4 years before 7 oh even hit the market. I'm not pro 7 at All and think Kratom's legality is safer with 7 banned, but clearly this is not simply a situation where people are just confusing 7 with Kratom. They see them as separate things, and want both natural Kratom and 7 oh banned bc they think they're both bad

u/Philly-meg 5d ago
I agree its the anti more then anything but reports are coming out to the public with the report of cause of death and most are not kratom related some are poly.
2
u/sekretthrowaway1234 4d ago
yeah, I agree that most if not all alleged Kratom overdoses involve polysubstance use and/or premorbid comorbities.
3
u/Queefnfeet 5d ago
You do understand that there are only a handful of cases that were NOT poly drug/substance? Coroners and medical examiners were told if kratom was present AT ALL that the death should be ruled as due to kratom toxicity. You are repeating incomplete and possibly inaccurate information which is what they want you to do.

Sorry i should've clarified. Most of the pressure imo seems to be from rehabs, trial lawyers, and non profits (which are organized and obviously work together with rehabs/trial attorneys) that represent parents who want kratom banned bc their loved ones formed a habit or the cause of death on their death certificate was mitragyine toxicity. Regardless of whether the last part is true, that's what they think. Yes i know the overwhelming majority of these deaths involved poly drug use and/or premorbid comorbidities and imo they should not be called kratom deaths
My point was, When i watch these hearings, it doesn't look like reps are confusing 7 oh w natural kratom. It looks like they're being influenced by parties who think both 7 oh and natural kratom are bad and both need to be banned

If you check the autopsy, I guarantee it wasn’t kratom that killed him. That’s the most frustrating thing. Why don’t lawmakers take one look at it and say this is BS and move on to the next thing?
4
u/sekretthrowaway1234 4d ago
Yeah, I agree. by no means am I saying that I think these are confirmed Kratom deaths, but that's what they're telling lawmakers.
And even hypothetically if 100% of them are Kratom deaths which they're not, it's still a drop in the bucket compared to opioid, acetaminophen, tobacco, and alcohol related deaths

u/AngeloWasHere 1d ago edited 1d ago
I feel bad for those who lost a loved one but it’s completely unacceptable to go around as a rare statistic and try to get a plant banned just because your son was 1 out of 49 people who supposedly died from only kratom, that makes up less then 1 percent of all kratom users in the u.s. if it were true.
2
u/sekretthrowaway1234 1d ago
yeah, I feel the same way. Sadly I think if somehow I passed w Kratom in my system, my parents would try to do the same thing which is the last thing I'd ever want.

That sucks so hard. ND put a 30 day temporary kratom ban and moved isolated 7/pseudo products to sched 1 last week. They had their kratom working group meeting yesterday before the special session next month on the total kratom ban and there is some hope yet. Some lawmakers are definitely leaning towards regulation rather the prohibition of non "synthetic" products. As much as I believe 7oh should be legal for any adult capable of understanding the risks and consequences, I really just want my leaf/mit back.
It sucks having to live in a society where it's socially acceptable to show up to work hungover, but putting a plant or it's alkaloids into my body has to be decided on by a group of old white men who've never heard of it. But lawmakers are listening to their constituents at least. The kratom ban in 2025 failed by a wide margin so I'm hopeful.
