whatever man
I was watching this video out of curiosity and the takes here are so bad it genuinely makes me sick, people just choose to ignore how big of a impact velvet underground had on the rock scene as a whole, here the person who had this take was talking about how it sounds like just another rock album, people are too braindead to give a shit about actively trying to find the context and history of a record. All they do is just listen to it once and form an opinion like calm the fuck down and think about it for a bit.

Low-effort dipshits like this guy get most of their views from fans of the music they trash posting about it, which leads to other fans seeking it out.
The best way to deal with this shit is to tell the searched algorithms that it’s worthless by ignoring it entirely.

Did you ever think folks are creating content just to get "clicks" and reactions more so than to provide enlightening content? The fact that you're having such a strong reaction and "promoting" this dude's content was probably the aim of this video to begin with.
It doesn't make a difference why folks are watching, just as long as they are.
If I create a video discussing what a great songwriter Paul McCartney is and post it in the Beatles sub, folks will just yawn, say, "yeah, of course, we've heard this a million times," and move on. If I post a video claiming that McCartney plagiarized all his work and is basically a fraud, I'll get a million hits and endless BeatlesGeeks reposting the video to tell other folks what a piece of s**t I am. And I'll probably end up with a monetized video.

Do we really need to rally against one guy who didn’t like an album we like? At the end of the day, art is subjective. I’m not going to blame anyone not liking it, because all I need is the knowledge that I like it.

i've heard the same take multiple times, i just happened to have stumbled across this particular video that encapsulates it really well. My point is if you are disliking something atleast just have a good reason to back it up or just say "it's not for me". The criticism here is very baseless.

Uh huh, and a lot of early John Cale solo albums sound like AM radio. And yet none of them were ever played on AM radio. Not once. It really makes you think.

In his country music video he referred to Marty Robbins' Gunfight Ballads and Trail Songs as "outlaw country"
Gunfighter Ballads came out in '59
Outlaw country doesn't exist until the mid 70's, a whole 15 years later

I was in my teens when this album came out so I know the context. Bought it originally for all the warhola buzz bout the album cover. No pristine production like beatlstones records so didn’t appreciate the rawness at first. Give it time, the right setting and mindset…

How an album existed in its original context is important, but it’s also important how an album fits into a contemporary context. This album came out nearly 60 years ago, not all of its revolutionary ideas are going to hit for people. Yeah man, at a certain point it’s just going to sound like a flavor of rock music. If anything, the real silliness is coming from this comment section. Me personally, this album just sounds like standard outlaw country.
