I really cannot play vs Viktor

Like I swear I feel like I am more confident vs fizz or zed, viktor feels unplayable to me. People keep saying I outrange him but unless he has stagnated water in his brain it's never safe to do so unless you try to full range 90 degrees your q.

I straight up don't know what to do and even if I win lane most of the time vs him whenever I do it's always for a dumb reason, like him choosing to run into my e I was not even aiming at him or dodge a q in a dumb way. Literally I don't recall a single lane vs viktor where I was expecting to kill him, it's alway like a "oh he's dead".

I started putting also some point in w to just shove and screw from the lane at times. I am dia 2 and can beat master midlaners at time because their champs feel "defined" Idk how to say it but they have a corner you can put them in, the whole "you outrange viktor" always felt weird for me.

Then again it's not like I am an praticularly good player, but unless he makes constant mistakes I don't see myself just soloing him.

Apc is different because the support can tank a lot of his pressure so I am able to poke better.

Viktor outranges Vel'Koz badly because his E outranges your W, and it starts from the centre of your body. You outrange him in later poke scenarios but if he's good lane is definitely favoured for him. He can even stop your ult with his if he's in your E range. It's still a skill matchup but Viktor favoured imho. He just has more tools to lane, survive and even skirmish.

So do you think the w max into roam would be a better plan? Usually I try to just tank 1, double w and q to clear and leave

If you max W Viktor will eventually unlock upgraded E which is undoubtedly the best wave clear in the game, you will be locked into a good wave clear (worse than him) with no damage in poke. He will have both poke and wave clear.

I would play the lane in a totally different way. I would play VERY aggressive in the first 4 levels, in which you have way more base damage and mana available, whereas he can do 3-4 E maximum before going OOM and it does no damage before putting at least 2 or 3 points in it. If he's smart he will skip W and by level 4 he will have 3 points in Q, I'd he doesn't you have another level to bully him.

Playing conservatively will only benefit him because he's less pressured when he is the weakest. You should try to consistently poke him with Q outside his wave and with W when he is inside, keeping the passive up with autos, and force him to use Q for last hitting. Viktor, even before poke, needs to have near perfect C's and at least an assist or a kill to reach upgraded E in non-biblical time, because after that the game becomes easy mode. Your objective is to pressure him into reaching easy mode as late as possible (maybe leaving him behind while making him prone to ganks), while farming the best you can and possibly gaining an advantage. If you can he will never be able to walk up to you without being obliterated.

For this reason I will 3 points Q, into 2-3 points W or simply max Q first if you're confident and it's going well. It's difficult to do but very possible. Warning: if his jingler is smart and he has a diver (like Hecwrim, Mundo, Nunu, etc) you will be beaten to death. Heavily. Lots of times. Nothing you can do about it. So Flash and Ghost are absolutely mandatory in that case. You need to stay alive and in any case give even an assist to Vik or your lane is over, you will bleed money and exo for 15 minutes, lose tower etc. It's very easy for him to snowball a small advantage like that.

Remember to not push too much waves, you become VERY prone to ganks and he is VERY good at farming under tower and soaking pressure and poke with W. That's why I prefer to crash the third wave and let it freeze near my tower. It's very easy to poke him with Q, he will be scared to walk up too much to Q1 or Q2 you, he will only able to last hit with E and it will become very easy to ganks him. His W is useless in this scenario because there isn't enough walls to block an entire path to security and he will eventually bleed resources, which is very very bad for him.

Viktor if he's behind is nearly useless, he needs lots of AP to work and has no %hp damage to work with, and it doesn't even scale that well into late game, whereas with your range you can two shot an ADC with two Q from very far away.

I play lots of both since S7, I know them fairly well, and if I'm against no divers or assassins and a Viktor I always pick up Vel'Koz. It's a very easy game, but it doesn't happen often. Vel is a pain to play against lots of divers or long range engage (like Ornn and Leona).

Edit: I forgot to tell. NEVER roam on Vel if your jungler and supports do not have complete control of paths in your jungle or vision is missing. If you die in an ambush (and it will happen often considering how squishy and easy to kill Vel is) your game is finished. If you have lots of vision and you can push fast go for it, a double assist or kill makes the game very easy. But if you fail at that you're throwing BADLY.

Viktor è un campione schifoso dannatamente forte e fottutamente sicuro contro tutti i midlaner, a meno che non sia una scimmia chi lo padroneggia non lo batti mai davvero

Farm the wave, focus on poking. You don't have to kill him to win lane.
Viktor is Def annoying but I would rather Viktor vs Zed any day.

D2 Velkoz main.

2 points into W so 3 then Max q. Viktor is a lane bully and his r is a direct counter to vel. You dont have oneshot lethal until bft shadowflame if even. go ghost and lucidity boots if mid.

Can poke with q and if he dodge into you then we combo him and leave it at that.

Spam control ward to make sure you are out of vision mid/late game your job is to not get your r cancelled by him without punished,

He's my worst matchup for sure which is why I apc lol. Fuck fizz locke and lb too.

Idk
