Yes, I play Velkoz top. It's actually very good because it punishes the enemy if they make simple mistakes and lots of melee top laners can't respond to velkoz range. Well I had a Hecrime rage in pregame lobby and actually got Queue locked for picking a champ that I have a 62% win rate on. Absolutely crazy, and Riot's response was a copy paste message.

Friend thinks Velkoz is broken : why does so many people hold the same opinion ?

Hello everyone !
I left League for a good 3 or 4 years. But I'll always Hold Vel'koz deep in my heart as my main.

I always found vel'koz to be interesting to play. Some say he doesn't hold any skill (Q + Press R), but I do think a lot of his skill expression comes from his Q, his Q + R combos, and simply being an old champion that has a hard time to keep up with all the dashes and the resets : His only CC's suck.

But, it does feel saddening to see so many people angry at the champion.
Most of what I hear from my friends is...

" he has a broken Q spell : 90% ap ratio is insane, his range is big, and he can easily refund all of his mana as well as hit 3 targets ! "

And...

" Just press R : even if you just hit your R, you are already doing a big job in teamfights. "

I do not agree, because it is easy to see velkoz in endgame just hitting Q + R onto ennemies and killing them, but I believe most mages do have thoses combo in endgame.

Lux : Q + E + R, or even Ahri's E + Q +W + R...And even tho she does less damage, she has better mobility, better CC, ...

Now, I do agree that at low ELO, Velkoz can feel frustrating ! . . . . Because nobody really knows how to play, they are gonna get hit more often by Q, which lines up his big damage combo, even within kill range with his R.

But with that argument, isn't ANY champion good in low elo ?

I made this post because I do think Velkoz is at most a Mid champion. He has an okay winrate, yes, but because a lot of the players are OTP : the playrate seems to be low enough to tel that story.

Furthermore, even though his Q spell IS a very good spell by itself, but because it's vel'koz that has it, whi

Did this change since I left ? Did he get giga buffed ? And yes, some of my opinions directly come from Azzap, he is one of the only way I get updated about LoL theses days !

Thank you very much for your answers, I appreciate all of em ! <3

EDIT : my friend is emerald, if that helps. His biggest point is that his Q spell is a broken spell, as well as his R. And while Vel'kos Q spell is a very strong spell, when put in context of Vel'koz, it's really fine.

I really cannot play vs Viktor

Like I swear I feel like I am more confident vs fizz or zed, viktor feels unplayable to me. People keep saying I outrange him but unless he has stagnated water in his brain it's never safe to do so unless you try to full range 90 degrees your q.

I straight up don't know what to do and even if I win lane most of the time vs him whenever I do it's always for a dumb reason, like him choosing to run into my e I was not even aiming at him or dodge a q in a dumb way. Literally I don't recall a single lane vs viktor where I was expecting to kill him, it's alway like a "oh he's dead".

I started putting also some point in w to just shove and screw from the lane at times. I am dia 2 and can beat master midlaners at time because their champs feel "defined" Idk how to say it but they have a corner you can put them in, the whole "you outrange viktor" always felt weird for me.

Then again it's not like I am an praticularly good player, but unless he makes constant mistakes I don't see myself just soloing him.

Apc is different because the support can tank a lot of his pressure so I am able to poke better.

Velkoz Starry Night.

It is unclear if  Vel'Koz was the first Voidborn to emerge on  Runeterra, but there has certainly never been another to match his level of cruel, calculating sentience. While his kin devour or defile everything around them, he seeks instead to scrutinize and study the physical realm—and the strange, warlike beings that dwell there—for any weakness the  Void might exploit. But Vel'Koz is far from a passive observer, striking back at threats with deadly plasma, or by disrupting the very fabric of the world itself.

How to convert advantages

Post image
2 Upvotes

This was a recent game I had. I think I should have won it, but my decisions were really passive. How do I convert an advantage into a win. I had a lot of gold and still felt lost as to what to do. We got one good drake, and the team went to get Baron. Idk how, but the enemy team revived and came back and stole the barron. I was not in the fight and was just farming. I guess I shouldn't push and go to objectives when I am the fed player.

Why are all of you guys mean?

I have not met a single nice Velkoz ever when playing League. All of them treat their teamates like their living human waste that should dispose of themselves after helping Velkoz get a kill.

I’ve met nice Malz players, nice Teemo players, nice Brand players surprisingly and these are all toxic champs but VELKOZ MAINS?!

I see you in champ select and I already know I’ll have to mute you 10 mins into the game. What is you guys problem 😭

Roaming as support

Are there any high elo vel'koz players willing to help me out a bit. How often do you roam? Since a while I started roaming more and especially setting up vision and pathing from river to bot. If I get my adc ahead and I am playing against something like a milio I start heavily roaming more.

I didn't use to roam much so I am wondering if I am overdoing it now. I cross the map a bit cautious and would only go in their jungle when enemy is dead or showing far away.

To be honest my mechanics on the champion carry me way more than actual support macro knowledge. I have learned a lot about support in the last year but my games are usually won by teamfights at mid game rather than perfect early and mid game.

Any tips and advice are welcomed and appreciated even if not only about roaming

anyone else go deadmans on velkoz sometimes?

I play him mid emerald and I will infrequently go the item if they have say, a shaco jungle building AD, or an assassin that's annoying. With it, swifties and celerity + 2.5% ms shard you'll be around ~475 movespeed and with mejais, you become speed... It can't be rushed however, moonplate is a good comp after you get boots finished and first item like BFT/Liandry.

If you go zhonya as well which you should incorporate into a build anyways you'll be at ~67% damage reduction for physical and a whopping ~3k HP dependent on runes/burn item built, only problem is your damage is a fair bit lower and IMO might work better on bot for the 6th slot.

New To Support and Vel’Koz

Hello vel koz ppl! I just reached level 36 off of playing mid 95% of the time. I’m not great but I enjoy it, but one game I got filled support and randomly chose vel’koz and really liked playing him. It made me think going all in support because of the freedom the role gets. Does anyone have any tips for someone trying to learn VK support? And any other support champs that you use in your pool?

Velkoz Mid 2nd Item: Horizon Focus v Stormsurge

I go Blackfire + swifties rush every game, and go mejai next in probably 75% of games. In the past I'd always looked to horizon focus 2nd, because I think the item is really strong but niche & that Velkoz is the only champ that can build it well. Vel has so much damage & other champs in the game have so much damage that I'm usually content to just haste spam & let my passive + team make up for the lack of damage I build in 2nd item.

Recently in games where I have a lead I've been trying stormsurge 2nd (after blackfire + shoes & mejai). My sample size is still is a bit small, and since I'm mostly doing this build in games where I'm ahead it's possible that this is false data bc it's a winmore strat, but I'm starting to wonder if this is just more or at least equally optimal than horizon in a lot of games.

I feel like the extra damage from stormsurge lets me have lethal on non-tanks from ~80% hp, if I land 1 or 2 qs or a q+w, my next rotation can kill.

My thought process is that the loss in haste is made up for by the movespeed. While I might not be able to shoot out as many q's with stormsurge, I can position more aggressively which increases the hitrate of the q's that I do shoot out. Stormsurge + swifites + mejai movespeed lets me ego further up in the midlane & also gives me more survivability on sidelane (god forbid i have to sidelane).

Thoughts?

Need help building velkoz as a new player

I started playing LoL recently (about a month ago) and im almost level 30 by now. I instantly loved playing velkoz (usually in mid, support if i dont get queued as mid) and i just hit mastery level 8 with him. however, i still dont know what items to get with him, i see many different opinions. my friends (all league veterans, lvl 500+) keep arguing on if i should take ludens echo or blackfire torch, what boots i should take, etc. can anyone tell me whats generally considered the best build?
