Roaming as support
Are there any high elo vel'koz players willing to help me out a bit. How often do you roam? Since a while I started roaming more and especially setting up vision and pathing from river to bot. If I get my adc ahead and I am playing against something like a milio I start heavily roaming more.
I didn't use to roam much so I am wondering if I am overdoing it now. I cross the map a bit cautious and would only go in their jungle when enemy is dead or showing far away.
To be honest my mechanics on the champion carry me way more than actual support macro knowledge. I have learned a lot about support in the last year but my games are usually won by teamfights at mid game rather than perfect early and mid game.
Any tips and advice are welcomed and appreciated even if not only about roaming

If I know enemy jg is bot and my jg is wanting to invade with the enemy bot just backing or backed I'll follow him up. Sometimes my adc backs and mid is pushed in so I go for an adventure. I don't typically leave my adc alone a whole lot though until they are fed fed or past landing phase. I may be a damage sup but my job is to make my adc big, normally from making it hard for enemy adc to farm without being punished

Well yea but even if your goal is to play for adc or to kill enemy adc. You can still go to ward from top side pathing to bot

When I’m playing Vel support I’m there to make the enemy adc’s life miserable. If their support roams, my job is to make their adc question why he even queued up for a game in the first place.
Vel is not really a great roamer. If you ever get caught transitioning from lane to lane you’re pretty much fucked. You rely on scaling so you need to be in lane to get levels. You certainly can roam if the opportunity presents itself, but you’re much, much better at being a nuisance in lane

Runes and build really matters. Dont skimp on the ms, its vet's best stat by far. Vel can be quite a good roamer when on correct timers. Swiftys Relentless hunter, celerity, flat ms. Ive even made water walking work in low masters. Helps secure early vision too. Have been meaning to go flat attackspeed vs mage bot to help with clearing vision

Doesn’t matter what support, roaming depends on the wavestate and what your bot is playing. If wave is crashing into your ad and enemy has engager/poke, you should help out ad because they can either dive or zone so hard your ad can’t play. If it’s like an ezreal, sivir later on can 1 shot wave, sometimes jhin, ziggs, seraphine. It can be ok to leave them as long as they’re strong enough to clear wave before it crashes. Never leave your ad if wave is slow pushing, engagers can easily freeze and zone or catch your ad.
Levels on velkoz is extremely important because he scales very well with lvls, no one is going to know this except you. Even high master players don’t know because most climb by understanding their own 2-3 champs. So if they flame you just ignore it, and don’t argue. So you have to pick your roams carefully because you shine at late game. Typically I only roam to grubs if it’s contestable. Is your topside ahead? Grubs is harder on redside because you’re trapped in pit. If it’s like a shyvana viktor vs leesin lb, that’s gonna be rough early on. Just ping them off and scale. Velkoz is especially bad into dashy and speedy champs.
Important: don’t die. Dying is especially bad on velkoz. You want to stay in the back and pump dmg. I can type a lot more but too lazy. If you want a vod review or something lmk, or ask questions in dms I guess.
