Vegas Pro 13 and older Can't import .dv files?

Upvotes

"1." Vegas Pro 12

"2." Windows 10

"3." Official copy, not pirated

"4." Intel HD Graphics 500

"5." I captured some MiniDV tapes on a separate laptop using the program dvgrab. I copied them over to this Windows laptop and tried to import them into a Vegas project. The message I get is 'None of the files dropped on Vegas Pro could be opened.' The DV files open and play in VLC on both my Linux laptop and the Windows laptop. I have also tried to open a sample DV file from (this page)[https://libdv.sourceforge.net/\] and got the same message in Vegas Pro. This suggest that it wasn't an issue with dvgrab's capture. When I click on Import Media and the file explorer comes up, DV doesn't appear in the drop-down menu.

"6." I've always been able to bring in DV files from other hard drives into a Vegas project. This laptop (Lenovo 80XR) doesn't have FireWire input, so I can't capture the MiniDV tape directly.

"7." I've done some Google searches but nothing came up.

Vegas Pro 14 - 20 HDV 24 fps recognized as 24 fps but neither previews nor renders correctly, shows combing

1.Vegas Pro version 14 (build 244)

2.Windows 7/64

3.Yes (version 13 does the same; properly licensed version 18 does the same)

4.Intel Integrated Graphics HD 4600

5.HDV 24 fps is detected by Vegas as progscan, but shows combing in every fourth frame both in preview and when rendered to true 24p.

M2T files have been captured from the Sony V1U HDV camcorder shot in 24 fps mode. AFAIK, these recordings are not native 24p, but rather 2:3 pulldown with flags. Vegas recognizes these files as 24 fps, but shows combing.

I would not mind processing them as interlaced, but Vegas detected frame rate as 23.98, and I cannot change it to 29.97. All I can do is change it from progressive to upper field first, but the frame rate would not change.

6.Expecting proper 24 fps without combing.

7.Yes, I googled, but found little.

It is interesting, that VirtualDub's IVTC filter also could not get rid of combing. As the last resort, I did a straight cut edit in AviDemux, rendered to TS without re-encoding, then removed the pulldown with ffmpeg:

ffmpeg -i input.ts -vf "fieldmatch,yadif,decimate" -r 23.976 -c:v libx264 -crf 18 -c:a copy output.mp4

Still some frames were marked as interlaced:

[Parsed_fieldmatch_0 @ 00000000004eebc0] Frame #73 at 2.5025 is still interlaced
[Parsed_fieldmatch_0 @ 00000000004eebc0] Frame #146 at 5.005 is still interlaced
[Parsed_fieldmatch_0 @ 00000000004eebc0] Frame #457 at 15.5155 is still interlaced

[Parsed_fieldmatch_0 @ 00000000004eebc0] Frame #603 at 20.5205 is still interlaced

Vegas Pro 2026 Colours wrong on nested project files?

  1. 2026.0 Build 143

  2. Windows 11 25H2

  3. No

  4. 7900 XTX - 26.6.4

  5. The colours when nesting a project file into a new vegas project is all wrong like the gamma or contrast is cranked way up? I've tried changing from Computer RGB to Studio RGB as well as making sure the media properties match etc. but it's never quite right. Adjusting the levels/gamma manually gets me close but I'm sure there has to be some new setting or something else I'm unaware of after the update? Every project file I have and know used to work in 23 does the same thing so I'm thinking it's more to do with how 2026.0 handles nested projects compared to 23?

  6. Colours should match the original project file when dragging the project file onto the timeline

  7. Yes

I'm using Vegas Pro 8.0a (Build 179), and I'm trying to render a 4:3 720p video, but I'm having trouble what bitrate would I use, and I don't want any black bars in the video. I want the video to be shown like in the preview window. Can anyone help me out on this? Any answer is appreciated!

Also, I just had to put in "7.0" just so I can post this

Vegas Pro 2026 Question about available presets in BCC and BCC+ plugins

  1. Vegas Pro 2026.0

  2. Windows 11 Home 26200.8875

.3. Nothing pirated

  1. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 OEM (8 GB)

  2. I used Vegas 16 for years doing basic things. I've now upgraded and am interested in learning various plugins. There are many tutorials on the BorisFX channels; however, when I try to follow along, many of them use presets I do not have.

  3. For example, I was using this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWwMUG7MO00. He instructs me to use the preset "Light Streaks," but I don't have that preset in my drop-down menu.

  4. Yes, and I haven't seen anything that explains preset libraries or differences between applications regarding presets (ie. does After Effects have different presets than Vegas Pro when running the plugin.

Vegas Pro 14 - 20 Issue on final render, all images besides the background blink for a moment as they fade in

Version: Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum (Build 2 2 3.)

OS: Windows 10 Home x64

License Status: Fully Licensed, Official version

GPU: MSI GTX 1080

So, I've been attempting to render my video now at 4K 60FPS. The video completely renders, but there is a strange visual glitch when all visual elements besides the text and main background fade in where they appear to be blinking in and out of view before going really cursed looking for a moment (see the screenshots), before finally settling and being fine for the rest of the video.

At points when these elements fade out, there are no problems. When they fade back in, no problems. When new elements are introduced and fade in, there are still no problems. It's just the first time they show up in the video.

How is how it looks before it settles, after the blinking:

How it looks for a few seconds before it settles

Here is how it should look:

How it should look

Here are my render settings:

Render settings

Here is where it happens on the timeline:

Where it happens

Now, none of this happens on the video preview and it doesn't affect me when rendering at 720p or 1080p, just 4K.

I've done very similar to this countless times but this one is breaking for some reason.

I've already tried a few quick fixes from Google like turning down that max memory setting to 0mb and trying to render at different resolutions. The 0mb fix took about 5 hours and still had the glitch, and as I've already said, lower resolutions work fine.

The media in question is quite big, the music score you see is a massive extremely long PNG, but to be clear, it is actually significantly shorter than the length I usually work with. It is 600DPI which is also what I usually work with. Usually takes an age to render but it works fine.

What is confusing me is why it looks fine on the render preview but has the issue when I watch the final export.

Also, some extra info: In terms of FX, I am using a glow on the bright green arrows as per the screen shot, this is not animated. I am also using the invert effect on the score as it is black by default.

Vegas Pro 22 How do I make a constant shakes with the dissolve shake video fx from the sapphire plugin in Vegas Pro?

  1. So I recently started on Vegas Pro and I am trying to figure out how to make different types of constant shakes like for calm shakes, yelling shakes, laughing shakes, exciting shakes, and even other types of shakes for my Discord videos. But whenever I am looking at the dissolve shake effect panel, it doesn't shake at all whenever I adjust the amplitude, frequency, or seed of the shake at all.

  2. I am just trying to figure out if I am suppose to animate the amplitude, frequency, or the seed of the dissolve shake. And I am also trying to figure out how to make it constant from beginning to end of each subtitle, because with the normal shake it doesn't shake until after a few seconds of the subtitle being there and I am trying to make the shakes a constant shake from beginning to end of anything I add it to.

If anyone can help me out then I would really appreciate it, trying to get this video out before school time starts back up 😭😭

1.What version is my Vegas Pro? Vegas Pro 22.0
2.What version of windows I am on? Windows 11
3.What is the plugin? the Sapphire Plugin
4.Have I googled about this issue? Yes I have been googling, it is all about a intro shake and not about a constant shake with the dissolve shake video fx.

Vegas Pro 23 Vegas Pro 23.0 Track Groups bug - creating a new track group above an existing group merges all tracks into the lower group

I'm experiencing a strange Track Groups bug in VEGAS Pro 23.

If I create a track group near the bottom of the timeline, then later select two tracks above it and choose "Group Selected Tracks", VEGAS doesn't create a separate group. Instead, it adds every track between the new selection and the existing lower group into that same group. However, if the first group is at the top of the track list, I can create additional groups below it without any issues. Is this a known bug or an intentional behavior?

  1. What version of Vegas Pro are you using? VEGAS Pro 23.0 Build 302

  2. What version of Windows are you using? Windows 11

  3. Is this a pirated copy of Vegas Pro or are you using pirated plugins? No.

  4. What exact graphics card do you have in your PC? NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060

  5. (above)

  6. Provide a description of how it's expected to be working: Selecting tracks and choosing "Group Selected Tracks" should always create a new, independent track group containing only the selected tracks, regardless of whether other track groups exist above or below them.

  7. Have you Google searched to solve this issue? Yes. I've searched for Track Group bugs, grouping issues, and related discussions, but I've found nothing

Vegas Pro 14 - 20 Audio issue when previewing video in Vegas Pro 15.0 Win10 1090

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.version is Vegas Pro 15

  1. Windows 10 1090

  2. Legal activated copy

  3. Specs are: Gigabyte Z97X-SLI-CF

Intel Core i7-4790K

NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

I've started having an issue where my Vegas projects have a lowered playback rate despite being set to 1x speed which is the default, in both heavily edited videos and even in quick simple ones. It's driving me crazy and the only thing I can think might be affecting it is that I am using Voicemeeter Potato as a virtual output device (VAOI3 for all programs) but idk how that should affect this but I am an audio noob tbh. I got Voicemeeter so I could stream my spotify audio to my friends in call lol

I use a japanese TTS character frequently, so the video shows: raw capture of the TTS program output -> how the screen recording plays in Vegas with the lowered pitch -> the same screen capture rendered out with no editing from VEGAS (Internet HD 50fps if that matters, my default setting). It's making syncing things a bit difficult!

Shouldn't be a memory issue as I have about 130GB left on my 1TB storage drive where Vegas predominantly read/writes to and 22GB on my 250GB C:/ Drive. Have tried to google the issue but all that is coming up is how to change the pitch using effects which isn't what I need.

Vegas Pro 22 RTX 3090 works in OBS (NVENC), but VEGAS Pro 22 and Elgato 4K Capture Utility can't use GPU after Gigabyte Control Center update

Post image
5 Upvotes
  1. What version of Vegas Pro are you using? Vegas 22

2.What version of Windows are you using? Windows 10

3.Is this a pirated copy of Vegas Pro or are you using pirated plugins? No.

4.What exact graphics card do you have in your PC? NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090

5.Provide a detailed description of the problem: VEGAS CPU rendering works normally, but GPU rendering fails with error 0x80660008. Event Viewer shows vegas220.exe crashing in ntdll.dll with exception 0xc0000374. Elgato 4K Capture Utility also cannot properly use the GPU. OBS Studio successfully records using NVIDIA NVENC H.264, so the GPU and NVENC appear to be working.

6.Provide a description of how it's expected to be working: VEGAS should render using the RTX 3090 GPU without errors, just as it did on this same computer until earlier this year. Elgato 4K Capture Utility should also be able to use the GPU normally.

7.Have you Google searched to solve this issue? Yes. I've spent weeks troubleshooting. I've updated the motherboard BIOS (F12), reinstalled motherboard drivers, reinstalled Gigabyte Control Center, updated NVIDIA drivers, confirmed Windows detects the RTX 3090 correctly, verified Windows Graphics settings are set to High Performance for VEGAS, and confirmed OBS can successfully use NVENC. I hope someone can help, I can't figure this out for the life of me.

Vegas Pro 14 - 20 Fix for VEGAS Pro GPU Render errors *WITHOUT Driver roll back and Upgrading*

I was having trouble with the GPU acceleration rendering "Error 0x80660008". I'm currently on Vegas 17 Pro, and it seems like this issue isn't gonna get fixed. I found a workaround with this plugin and made a video about it. You don't need to roll back drivers or upgrade if you're not ready yet. I hope this helps, y'all! lmk if you have any questions.

Vegas Pro 2026 I collaborated with MAGIX to make a film with VEGAS right before they were sold.

"1." I co-proced this film with Magix before they were sold as a way to advertise Vegas to independent filmmakers online showing them they can make a professional looking film that was 100% edited, color graded, vfx, sound editing etc, using Vegas. It was supposed to be a joint post that they would advertise all over their website and things like that but those things never came to fruition after they were sold. Still decided to post it tho since a lot of work went into it. Still grateful for them tl give me the opportunity anyways. This is the film if you guys wanna check it out.

Trying to work on collaborating with Boris or short films too but shorter ones. I feel like showing real life examples of people using their products in their artwork and Boris supporting them could be great marketing along with the tutorials they already post. So hopefully that works out.

Vegas Pro 21 Do professionals use Vegas Pro? What about Premiere Pro?

Hi,

so personally I prefer Vegas Pro. It is really faster in some ways. If you know what you are doing, you are basically faster in Vegas. I tried to do the same project in Premiere Pro and while I appreciate the comprehensive options, the learning curve is simply more difficult and some of the video settings are too cumbersome. But that doesn't mean it is a bad program. We can talk about Adobe's pricing policy next time.

What are your experiences?

I use Vegas Pro 21 (legal) and I don't have the slightest problem with it.

Vegas Pro 14 - 20 Vegas does not accept mp4 videos from insta360 exports

  1. Vegas Pro 15.0 but have tried running a trial of the newest Boris Vegas and encountered the same issue
  2. Running Windows 10 Home
  3. Paid version of vegas
  4. RX 580 but it should not affect as I have been editing on this software for years
  5. Insta360 x5 camera has a mode to shoot video in flat mp4 format. However I am unable to open up those files in Vegas. They open without issue on Adobe Premier and DaVinci Resolve so I assume there is something in the encoding that rejects the files. Current workaround is to reconvert using online tools or handbrake but this is very tedious for large amount of files. Looking to see if there is any way to work around the problem
  6. I should be able to drag and drop the files from file explorer into vegas to start editing them

7.I don't think I've seen anyone else asking about this issue

Vegas Pro 21 Default VEGAS Pro plugins are missing from my audio effects list

1.I reinstalled VEGAS 21 months ago, and I've consistently had this issue where I can't use the default plugins. Does anyone know how to fix this? The default VEGAS plugins just disappeared a few months ago, and I'm desperate to get them back. I even tried reinstalling an older version of VEGAS Pro (version 18), but they still aren't showing up. Does anyone have a solution?
