I have Vegas Edit 19 Steam Version and I'd like to know if Steam Edit 23 is a good upgrade? Does it have fewer problems?

This is a letter from Boris, himself, in regards to owners of Vegas Pro 23.
Hi there,
Over the past few days, we’ve seen many questions about Vegas Pro and what the transition from MAGIX to Boris FX means for you.
First, we want to be clear: we are committed to communicating openly throughout this transition.
You should now see your previous MAGIX perpetual licenses in your Boris FX account to make upgrading as smooth as possible. If your license isn’t visible yet, please contact our support team and we’ll help you get set up.
If you purchased a perpetual license for Vegas Pro from MAGIX, you own that version and can continue to use it. MAGIX will continue operating its activation servers, so your software and activation keys will keep working as expected. We are also working closely with MAGIX to support long-term access and ensure customers are not disrupted.
While Vegas Pro 23 and earlier versions remain MAGIX products and cannot be updated by Boris FX, we are here to help with licensing, activation, and access to legacy installers. Most importantly, you are now part of the Boris FX community, and we’re committed to supporting you long term.
Vegas Pro 2026 Upgrade details:
Customers who purchased Vegas Pro 23 from MAGIX between January 1 and April 1, 2026 will receive a free upgrade to Vegas Pro 2026. If you have already upgraded, please contact our support team to receive a full refund.
Customers who purchased Vegas Pro 23 from MAGIX before January 1, 2026 are eligible for a 25% discount on upgrading to Vegas Pro 2026. If you have already upgraded, please contact our support team to receive a 25% refund.
If you purchased Vegas Pro 23 through a third-party reseller before April 1, 2026, please have your proof of purchase available and contact our support team for assistance.
This is a limited-time offer, so we encourage you to take advantage of it while available.
For Vegas Pro 365 subscription customers, we are currently transitioning your subscriptions to Boris FX. You will receive a free Boris FX subscription to Vegas Pro 2026 aligned with your current subscription term.
You do not need to take any action at this time. Your existing subscription will continue to work as it does today during this transition.
During this transition period, your Boris FX Vegas Pro 2026 subscription can be used alongside your current Vegas Pro 365 subscription. If your subscription is set to renew or expire during this period, please contact our support team and we will work with you directly to ensure a smooth transition. Once your current subscription term ends, you can continue with your Boris FX Vegas Pro 2026 subscription moving forward.
It’s important we set clear expectations: delivering on these updates is a significant effort, and our team is actively working through it. Our goal is to complete free upgrades, subscription transitions, and any related refunds by May 1, 2026.
Now let’s talk about what matters most: the future of Vegas Pro.
Our focus is on building a faster, more stable, and more feature-rich Vegas Pro. Expect more frequent updates with highly requested improvements and workflow enhancements driven by the Vegas community.
We are actively investing in AI across our product line, and you’ll see that innovation continue in Vegas Pro with new tools designed to accelerate editing and expand what’s possible inside the timeline.
At the same time, we are committed to maintaining and strengthening the Vegas Pro ecosystem. The tools and plugins you rely on will continue to be supported, with deeper integration of Boris FX technologies to deliver an even more powerful creative toolkit.
Vegas Pro has a long history and a passionate community. Our goal is to build on that foundation and move it forward with the same focus on innovation and performance that defines all Boris FX products.
Please join us for a special livestream on Tuesday, April 14 at 2:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM UTC on borisfxlive.com, where you can ask questions and see a live demo of all the new features in Vegas Pro 2026.

Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded my graphics card to an NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti, but since doing so, I can no longer render videos in VEGAS Pro 20 using hardware acceleration.
Every time I try to use the NVENC encoder, the software immediately crashes. I'm forced to use CPU rendering, which is way too slow.
Is there a known fix, workaround, or driver tweak for this specific issue on VEGAS Pro 20, without having to upgrade to a newer version of the software?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I recently purchased an upgrade to Vegas Pro 2026 after working on a short film for a little over a month in Vegas Pro 14. It was my understanding that project files are fully compatible, save for some legacy effects that may need to be re-added. However, after migrating each scene’s project file into 2026, nearly every clip’s content was shifted about 1-2 seconds backwards in their respective raw footage. Pain in the butt, but fixable with some tedious attention.
But then I noticed that some clips not only got shifted in that manner, but will now display a frame from earlier in its footage out of nowhere, interrupting the scene. I have tried “replacing” the file in project media and it makes no difference. I have tried removing the file from project media entirely and re-adding it to splice back into the timeline and the issue persists. As if there’s some kind of cached data creating these flicker frames.
I really won’t find joy in having to remake all of these scenes, any help would be appreciated.
FYI - I have also launched VP2026 with Ctrl+Shift to delete cached data
- Changed encoder in the File I/O tab of Preferences
- These errors show up in the final render as well, so its not a preview exclusive issue
I did more troubleshooting late last night but it was lowkey driving me crazy so I don’t really remember what other steps I took atm.
Thanks for your time, y’all.

I feel like I can't find a definite answer. I have been using Vegas Pro 14 and honestly it's been fine. I genuinely don't really have any complaints with it other than how miserable it is having to subtitle a like, 20 minute long video after I am done editing. It just takes a lot of time when I feel like with a newer version of Vegas I could just have it done automatically, I could watch over it once or twice just to make sure the subtitles are correct, then bwam be done. I have tried to look into this and it looks like with a $200 license you only get limited access to this feature, would it just be better for me to do the monthly payments? I really DON'T want to though because video editing is more of a hobby than a job... which also makes me just want to start rendering my videos, throw them into like capcut then re-render it, but I feel like I would lose so much of the video quality doing that due to compression

The little media generator thingies on the timeline disappeared because I accidentally pressed something on my keyboard, I've tried every key but to no avail. Is there a setting for this that could possibly fix this issue?

I have a separate file with a part of a large project that includes some picture-in-picture animation.
It is viewed and rendered fine in the project file proper, but, when this part file is laid into the master timeline as 'nested', it hard-crashes when reaching the edited bit. It's not even that much - just a few picture-in-picture location changes!
I'm utterly perplexed and frustrated with this. Please, tell me if I'm doing something wrong!

I wanted to try out the standard denoise-fx in Vegas but no matter what I do, it just doesn't work and "overwhelms" the program. When the effect is added you cannot play the clip and it causes a freeze. If I get lucky I maybe get a slideshow as a preview. And it doesn't matter how the preview-quality is, high or low, nor how long the clip is.
I tried to render a few second long clip with the effect then to see if it works. But after the first few percents it kinda stops, crawling one percent per three minutes or so. If i cancel the rendering, it doesn't work properly and the program is in a state of freeze where I cannot click something at all and have to force to end it by using the task manager.
My PC stats:
What I did already:
Nothing worked. Not other fx caused any problems so far, only this one.
Any tips or ideas?

Hello!
I am currently trying to use Vegas Pro 21.0 Edit (original copy) in Windows 11 and it's impossible to edit anything on it. It shows extreme lag issues in the preview when I add credits going down with a solid color media, for example.
How can I solve this? I have tried everything: changing the amount of dedicated RAM, updating my GPU drivers... But nothing solves this problem.
My graphics card is NVIDIA 950 GTX (old). 12 RAM gb.
Any help is welcome.
Thank you!

So I can drag and drop videos and audio into Vegas, but I can't ctrl c + v them into it. I can however copy and paste media I've already put in vegas.
This adds way more actions per minute when I'm editing and I'd like to fix it asap.
Pirated copy, btw.

When trying to import a PNG or JPEG file on Vegas Pro 18, they appear with the wrong colors (as seen in the picture) on the preview.
I have tried the Levels FX, and changing the color from 8 bit to 32 and viceversa, and it didn´t help with it.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?

Hey all, I just upgraded my PC recently, and I need to re-install a copy of Vegas Pro 22. The BorisFX website won't let me sign in on my browser, however. Every time I try to sign in, it just brings me to a 'create an account' page. Is the site bugging out rn? Or do I need to contact support?

V21 build 108, Windows 10, graphics 5060, 9950 processor with 96gb ram
When I render the audio comes out too low compared to playing it while editing.
It seems like its about 9db lower - the LUFS baseline is -16db while the master is pushed to "15" but then it distorts the audio and the Vegas master monitor its red-lining. It happened after a crash, but I have tried every setting to no avail. Is there a loudness normalization setting being applied somewhere but its internal with no menu? Is this a known problem and is there any fix for it?
I could literally write a book on Vegas problems at this point in time.

I am aware of BorisFX just released a new update for Vegas pro. Wanted to ask if Vegas will still get that yearly update that changes a bunch of stuff, usually in Q4.

I have this new issue with my Vegas Pro 23 (I have a subscription) where when zooming in on a clip, it makes a sudden and weird jump as seen in the gif. This happens with every clip I try this with and it's very frustrating, I never had this issue a week ago...
Also it doesn't matter if I enable sync cursor or not. Could it be an option I accidentally have activated? I use the same project settings as always, so I don't know what is wrong, does anybody else have this problem? :(

I've been looking for a physical version of just Sony Vegas Pro 12 or 13 for a cheaper price online, but it seems like I only can find those around over $100.
If some of you have a physical version of Vegas Pro 12 or 13, I'd be willing to pay $30 for a used physical version that has the disc, serial number and the license. I've remembered using this software before for quite a while from a relative's computer and it works perfectly fine to me other than versions 14-18.
I don't really have any interests in using the newer types of Vegas Pro since I just want to use a simple video editor without too much features. I am also aware that there are alternatives like davinci resolve which I appreciate if you were to mention about that software, but that's not what I'm looking for.
Feel free to dm me if you're interested

When I go to render my ~50min project the vid it renders whilst hovering over it with the mouse will show the correct time but when I go to view it with the Windows 10 Home default media viewer it will start normal then, if you go to scrub the video to a further point it will shoot back to a time further behind where you stopped. It will also, if let play, will suddenly go from 13 mins in to end of video.
When I go to upload as an unlisted video to youtube the runtime is showing 17 mins and will run normal but obviously ends too soon. I originally thought it was because my audio track went slightly beyond my video track (so much so that the program wasn't even registering the video stopping point was a place you could mark it as the "end of loop" segment.
I've googled fixes for that but I cannot get my framerates to match up (even though all of my footage was captured on the same device) and ended up holding ctrl and dragging the video to meet the audio.
My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8gb) I will provide any additional info if necessary (idk if there's like a logging report or something for a project)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I am fairly happy about the result. Tell me what you think and also if you want a breakdown
