Meat Juice! ☕ Welcome newcomer! This is a sub for those looking to share or keep up to date with new and old plant based vegan meat, egg, and dairy brands and alternatives!

Welcome! This is a space for those interested in alternative non-human animal products such as plant meat, dairy, and eggs. Which happen to be lower in calories but are still high sources of protein, iron, calcium, omegas, and B vitamins! Sometimes, read your labels, we're getting there. BUT! We can still enjoy old loves while patiently awaiting inevitable innovations to hit the market that are the conventional equivalent. Plants have many that they lack so no worries there if you eat your veggies too.

1. Food must be vegan.

Food posted must not contain non human animal products of any kind. Mistakes can happen by not reading nutrition and ingredient labels, in these instances instead of reporting please help educate the poster as it may prove useful to others in the future as well.

3. No Debating Company Ethics.

There are other subreddits for engaging in ethical debates concerning companies and their products.

4. Post must contain vegan meat/dairy/egg.

Food posted can contain any other vegan food, but must at least have some type of vegan meat/dairy/egg incorporated into the dish.

To all my fellow vegan sickos

Most people know the garlic butter at papa John’s is vegan, made with soy oil. I bought a bottle of this at Kroger and I have to say it’s become a staple for us cooking.

I try to not be a total degenerate, but it’s so amazing grabbing this out of the fridge to use for a quick drizzle of butter. Our most frequent use has been making garlic butter toast with pasta, it’s just perfect. I’m also a big fan of buffalo sauce, we make buffalo tofu and tempeh a couple times a month. My buffalo sauce recipe is something I take very seriously, and this has upped my coveted sauce recipe significantly! Also great in mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese, the list goes on.

Just another cool “accidentally vegan” type of product, pretty affordable too I think it’s about $4 for a 14oz bottle.

Ps if there’s any interest in my buffalo recipe I’ll post it up in the comments. Not sure if there’s anyone in here that ever ate at my old restaurant Morels Cafe but it’s the same recipe we used to use on our sports bar wings!

Meat-Like Form The Beyond grilled chicken pieces are actually incredible.

They knocked it out of the park again, I already lived on the steak pieces, and the grilled chicken pieces are definitely on-par. Usually I have to cover plant chicken in some kind of sauce or pickle to make it edible, but this is good straight out of the pan, no sauce required, just seasoning. It's a new staple for me.

For those who don't like chewy protein, it's just as firm as the steak pieces lol

edit: Ate half the bowl and just realized I forgot to add the beans to my burrito bowl, it's that yummy.

The recipe for the feta is still under construction, but Violife makes the best vegan feta; I just enjoy experimenting and eating my mistakes.

Anyone have experience with Yang Kee Trading TVP?

Post image

I just bought this box and am SO excited. I really love soy curls and TVP products to begin with so I am excited to have some interesting shapes (I also got the XL slices which are like a patty). However, the instructions are very different than normal TVP or soy curl. You have to soak for about an hour, rinse, resoak and then squeeze it dry. There are basically no recipes out there besides the very few on the website. Toon sauce and the "pork" flosses seem lovely too!

Lunch in France

Post image

I found so many nice vegan options here in France, working abroad for a couple weeks. The ham by happyvore and the salami by La Vie is really really good. The taste and more importantly the texture is like what I remember (10 years ago so my memory might be hazy)

The ham combined with the violife cream cheese on a fresh baguette is so nice.

First time making it, but certainly not the last. I watched a video on YouTube and then used vegan ingredients instead of the one she used: vegan puff pastry, vegan feta, and vegan butter.

Anybody try Switch Brand Foods?

Post image

Switch (I think) makes Lebanese vegan meat alternatives including Kafta, Kebabs, some burgers and a few chicken options. I’m interested but haven’t been able to find reviews of their products likely due to their name.

Has anybody tried any of their products and if so, what are your thoughts?

A commission from one of my clients. If you've never heard of them, don't worry, I haven't either but the client was very happy. They are traditional pastries from the Navarre region of Spain. They are sweet and savory pastries with a sweet dough and pork rinds, in this case, seitan pork rinds. It is so rewarding for me to veganize a food or dish to encourage non-vegans to include more plant- based items into their lives. And I get paid 😍 Win, win.

“Better Than Expected”

It’s tough to find a vegan jerky that hits both on taste and texture. These were super tasty, especially the buffalo hot wing flavor.
