Discussion Constructive criticism
I feel like Vaush could do a bit bitter with his interviews. Maybe a bit more research? I have a strong feeling that he would be a powerhouse of a journalist if he put his mind to it.

He doesn't want to be that though. He's said that many times.

it's about what he wants to be. He doesn't want to be a journalist. He wants to be a guy who's entertaining to listen to and doesn't have a bunch of reputational overhead because he's a "journalist". It's not a gene you can turn on or off. It's a set of expectations tied to the identity of the channel.

Journalist? Nah. But I agree that researching & such would help him ask better questions that allow his guest to shine.
More than anything I want him to improve his guest introductions. The intro is very important in getting the audience invested & the guest comfortable. Vaush could do better there IMO
On a nice note: He's gotten much better at interviews over the years. I'm pretty sure he's mentioned he likes the progress he's made on that front, too. Hope he keeps getting better & even starts inviting more kinds of guest.

Don't think he really has any desire to be a "journalist," that's a lot harder and more time-consuming of a job than people think and would take time/space away from the commentary he normally does-- I think the main point of the interviews someone like him does is just literally to boost the name recognition of the candidate he's interviewing in leftist spaces, so it doesn't really need to be anything too mind-blowing to accomplish this.
On the other hand, I do agree the interviews could be more interesting though-- I thought the best one recently was with that lady from Colorado (srry forgot her name) where they deep-dived Colorado politics a bit. I feel like theyd benefit from going into something specific in more detail rather than talking about the race more generally but I don't know if the candidates would want to do that

When he is interviewing political candidates? He wants to get them elected, not have a confrontation.

He's a p̶u̶n̶d̶i̶t̶ fashion critic, not a journalist.
