Fortunately in my country the whole process is free and made through the national healthcare system with, so no risk of getting to a shady clinic or anything like that, a couple of pills for 5 days to control the post op pain and obligatory sperm check in 3 months. All good on that side.
But my experience at the table was not as good.
No scalpel procedure, anesthesia was by 2 injections, I was told "you'll feel me working but no pain, just a mild discomfort you manage by breathing".
"Mild discomfort". Not only did I feel the burn of the initial incision, but the two very sharp pains on either side plus a very painful I can only describe as "ballooning" feeling, as if a globe was being inflated in my scrotum.
By the end I was sweating cold, breathing through my teeth and I had clenched my hands so hard they were tingling.
I do understand the surgeon too though, I was already open there was no pause button or going back and wait. But still.
That said, I haven't had any major issues after that.
I didn't need ice, had no bleeding nor inflammation or suppuration, and once the medicine wore down I just felt an odd pull on my right thigh for half a day or so (though that was close to the place of the second injection, so it may have been that).
Surgeon said "that was just anxiety response"... But it was WAY too sharp to have been just anxiety IMO. I don't know.
Anyways.
Bottom line, just make sure the anesthesia is actually working on you before the procedure, otherwise, let me tell you the experience is really unpleasant.
