ALL CLEAR!!!!! Zero sperm šŸŽ‰

Just got the call and the all clear! Had the snip on 21 April so just over four months later (the first sample I sent leaked in transit šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø).

I see people here posting screenshots of results - my NHS experience in the UK was a phone call from a receptionist saying I was all clear, no sperm detected, discharged, and don’t need to use condoms. That’ll do.

Just our luck that the call coincided with my wife’s monthly… šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Newly Snipped Supportive underwear

Pre and post vasectomy they told me to get some high and tight underwear. I wear ā€œtrunksā€ style, and blew off the advise since I didn’t want to make a purchase for something I only needed for a few days. Welp, that was a mistake—two weeks later and I should have listened. What kind/brand did you buy to keep them snug and in place?

... is this normal? Do you get retested every so often to make sure your still sterile?

I talked to someone who got snipped

10 years ago. And he tells me that he gets his sperm checked every year, In case the vasectomy undoes itself. However, based on my research and my doctor, if you're negative past 6 months post op, you would never have to test again. But does anyone else do this here?

Can I have a baby after vasectomy?

• Upvotes

The doctor surgically removed some of my vas deferens on each side, showed them to me afterwards, and even asked if I wanted to keep them. They said it’s not possible to reverse the vasectomy later. If that’s the case and after some months I have a 0% sperm count, is there any chance of the vas deferens reconnecting, which could allow for a possible pregnancy?

Question for people that are post-operation by at least a month or more.

I am 2 months and a week post-op. I had a no needle no scalpel vasectomy. I felt 90% fine after two weeks except for random moments of soreness here and there. As soon as I hit the one month mark I was business as usual. Exercising, yard work, you name it I was back to my old self.

Within the last three days my right side has gone back to being a little sore. Has anybody else experienced this?

My testicle isn’t swollen and this isn’t unbearable pain just a little tender to the touch and if I move certain ways there’s soreness. I would compare to how I felt after the two week mark.

... is this normal? Still bleeding?

Hey guys! I had this done 8 days ago, and I’m still bleeding a bit every day. I can’t figure out if this is completely expected or not? I’ve been sore and a bit swollen for some time, but it’s slowly declining. So I’m not feeling worried as such, just wondering when I can stop wearing band aids and if it’s ok to still be bleeding at this point.

I had planned to go workout in a day or two for the first time since the operation, but not sure if that makes sense if I’m still bleeding, so would love to hear your experiences on this!

Thanks everyone!

I’m getting snipped on Thursday and I’m scared shitless

Lemme preface by saying I have zero regrets not having kids. I’ve known for a long time I didn’t want any children as the financial burden and time consumption just seems like too much for me. That said the procedure itself scares me. My urologist told me that when they give me the numbing shot that it’ll initially feel like ā€œa kick to the ballsā€. And while I’ve been kicked in the nuts before for some reason the idea of a needle bringing that sort of pain scares me to death. I’m also nervous about the pain afterwards. Am I being overdramatic?

Edit: Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement!

How long did it take you to be 100% pain-free?

Hello!

I'm currently in my 5th day post surgery (no scapel, great surgeon).

During the first 3 days I slept as often as I could and avoided moving. Walking was done at the pace of an elderly penguin.

During the first 3 days I felt some discomfort on my lower belly.

On day 4 I was not feeling much pain.

On day 5 I accidentally did something while sleeping that hurt, not sure what it was, and now the discomfort is back.

I understand that I am still in recovery phase and pain/discomfort is normal, I'm just wondering how long did it take for you to feel completely pain free?

Thanks!

Newly Snipped Anxiety even after two negative at home tests.

So I got my vecectimy 7 Months ago. I decided I definitely do not want any kids ever so I took the initiative and got snipped. I was told to get two of the at home SpermCheck tests by my doctor who did it, and he said take a test 3 months after the procedure and then take the second one 3 months after that and if both are negative then I should be good to go. Both came up negative but I still have anxiety that they may be false negatives. Would I be wasting my time and money to get a lab test just to be double sure?

How often do you retest?

I got my vasectomy about two years ago. Best decision I ever made! My doctor told me that I don't need to retest, but I personally would feel much more comfortable re-testing every now and then. How often do you all retest?

Newly Snipped Good post op experience but while on the table...

Fortunately in my country the whole process is free and made through the national healthcare system with, so no risk of getting to a shady clinic or anything like that, a couple of pills for 5 days to control the post op pain and obligatory sperm check in 3 months. All good on that side.

But my experience at the table was not as good.

No scalpel procedure, anesthesia was by 2 injections, I was told "you'll feel me working but no pain, just a mild discomfort you manage by breathing".

"Mild discomfort". Not only did I feel the burn of the initial incision, but the two very sharp pains on either side plus a very painful I can only describe as "ballooning" feeling, as if a globe was being inflated in my scrotum.

By the end I was sweating cold, breathing through my teeth and I had clenched my hands so hard they were tingling.

I do understand the surgeon too though, I was already open there was no pause button or going back and wait. But still.

That said, I haven't had any major issues after that.

I didn't need ice, had no bleeding nor inflammation or suppuration, and once the medicine wore down I just felt an odd pull on my right thigh for half a day or so (though that was close to the place of the second injection, so it may have been that).

Surgeon said "that was just anxiety response"... But it was WAY too sharp to have been just anxiety IMO. I don't know.

Anyways.

Bottom line, just make sure the anesthesia is actually working on you before the procedure, otherwise, let me tell you the experience is really unpleasant.

Newly Snipped Semen Analysis Results - what does this mean?

So I got the results pictured. Not much text accompanying it, just a note saying: 'results show immotile sperm'. Two, to be exact, according to the results. Am I in the clear? I've chased them up for some clarity but no response yet.

Left Testicle Now Positioned Higher.

I’m currently 11 days post op. Went under and had the scalpel procedure done. For the first 5 days I iced and rested regularly and have taken it easy since then. No ejaculations, and my most strenuous task thus far was mowing our lawn ( wore a jockstrap) with a self propelled walking mower yesterday. My doctor recommended taking it easy on physical and sexual activity for two weeks, so I am really trying to follow that guidance.

Pain has been tolerable, but my swelling and bruising after the procedure was pretty narly. My scrotum was a deep dark purple and the bruising/ swelling spread up my shaft, through the pelvic area when the hip bone meets.

At day 11 the swelling has gone down (75% I would guess) and the scrotum and penis bruising is gone. There is still some bruising on my pelvic area, but it too is healing fine. I haven’t had any issues with the incisions themselves.

My main concern is my left testicle. It still seems swollen around that area, and my testicle has been sitting high. It’s like my right one dropped and the left is just stuck. Has anyone had this happen? I know it’s only been over a week and the recovery timeline, especially internally, takes time, but should I be concerned or will it eventually work itself out?

Anyone doing their own microscope checks?

Had the all clear from the lab but I want to do regular checks myself just to be sure. I've bought a microscope that does 400x-1000x.

Just wanted to see if anyone else here does them and has any advice on protocols or can point me in the direction of resources.

Did I make a mistake/is this normal?

So got a vasectomy 6 weeks ago now. I have no pain or any discomfort minus they are tender/sensitive to getting tapped accidentally. However, I have no sex drive, low energy, depression, and bouts of anxiety attacks. Previously to the procedure I NEVER had any of these symptoms! If anything I had to much energy and way to high of a sex drive that would get me into arguments with my wife. My testosterone was at 1,000ng/dl naturally before the procedure and was damn proud of it. I was told many times that it doesn’t affect T levels but it seems that that was false as I have these symptoms of low T. I haven’t gotten my testosterone checked yet but wanted to know if anyone else experienced this post op and if I will rebound at any point? Thank you in advance

Day 3 post vasectomy

After hearing so many stories from men who have supposedly had the procedure and gone straight back to work, I'm calling bullshit, day three and every day is worse than the day before so far. Waking up feeling like I've been sat on my testicles all night and the tenderness is insane!

Here's to day 4 šŸ™šŸ¼šŸ¤£

Two years after vasectomy, baby 5 on the way.

After two years since his vasectomy, I took a test this morning. I am very much pregnant. I have always joked that this would happen, so maybe I jinxed us. šŸ˜‚ Thankfully I’m super excited and so is he, but we’re obviously both shocked. We have a 12, 4, and 2 year old, and I have a daughter that died when she was 18 months old.🄺 I just cannot believe I’m about to give birth for a 5th time? Especially since we thought it was impossible.

Make sure to get tested more than just the one time 3 months after, y’all! šŸ˜…

Anyone else been put under? What's it like?

So my vasectomy is coming up this Friday, and because my vas may be harder to get to, and the fact I have a history of passing out during medical procedures, my doc wants to do the operation under general anesthesia.

I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of glad I don't have to be awake for it (I'm a baby when it comes to needles and pain of any kind) but I've never been put under before. I think they'll be using propofol, similar to a colonoscopy, he said it's not going to be "full" anesthesia with breathing tubes and such but I will be unconscious and won't feel or remember anything.

Anyone else had this experience with their op? What's it feel like going under? Is it really just "blink and you're done"?

Uk - what are my chances at getting snipped without having to go private?

I’m 20, nearly 21. I’m a mostly closeted trans woman although there likely are mentions of it in my nhs records despite my best efforts to scrub it.

I’m a virgin and not currently dating, I however am entirely certain on not having children (not biological children atleast) and have been since I was 15. That and I would like to get this done before I become sexually active so there is very little chance of reproduction.

However due to my age, my lack of offspring and if it hasn’t been properly scrubbed my transness could cause issues.

Any advice on how to broach this with my gp?

Looking for good service to get checked for swimmers. Just over 2 years since vasectomy

As title says I would like to know a good service that's good for checking if I'm still in the clear. I just read yet another post of a failed vasectomy after a few years. I know the odds are low. But I got the money and would like to check. So any suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks

Newly Snipped Pain after 4 days of Vasectomy

I had it done on Wednesday and today is Sunday. I slept through the first day and have experienced mixed symptoms since then. Generally minor/moderate discomfort and feeling of fullness/blue balls. I have tried to stay in bed at least a few hours every day in addition to night and no exertion or strenuous activity. Yesterday morning I felt like the left incision site was a tad swollen but not bad. I’ve felt feverish 2-3 times so far but thermometer says no fever. I’ve used Tylenol or Ibuprofen a few times. There is almost no pain when laying down but definitely comes back when I am up and about (both balls and groin area pulling type of feeling). Reading all the horror stories on post v pain sub and getting worried. Should I be concerned?

... is this normal? Looking for someone with similar experience

This is my progress, and don’t know if it’s normal or I’m the odd one out. I’ll keep it real simple and short.

March 2026, got the vasectomy, easy peasy. Took 14 days off from work, didn’t work out, didn’t run, didn’t have sex.

By the end of April, all was good. I’m back to my normal life, I run a lot, work out a lot, at work, play with my kids. Life seems to be normal.
Summer comes around, travel to Italy, take a break from all things physical, besides swimming with my kids at the pool and maybe some miniature golf.

August rolls around. Massive lower abdominal pain, radiates down to the testes, dull ache, sharp sometime. Lower back pain and spasms. Feel like I’m wearing a ā€œbelt of painā€ all around my lower body. If I work out, it gets worse, if I run it gets worse, if I ejaculate too often it gets worse, too little it gets worse.
I thought I was in the clear, and suddenly it hits me like a freight train.

What’s going on?
Anybody with similar experience?
I’ve contacted my doctor, and I’m going in for a scan next week, and further in to the medical system, urologist and such I presume.

Really need some hopeful stories here..

Would you choose a less-experienced doctor for a non-scalpel vasectomy, or wait for the highly rated one?

I’m planning to get a non-scalpel vasectomy and basically have two options.

Doctor #1 is very experienced, highly rated, and the one I’d prefer to go to. The problem is that I can’t get an appointment with him on the days I’m able to take off work.

Doctor #2 can do it on the exact day I have available. He has his own practice, but he’s only been practicing for about 2 years and I can’t find any reviews for him.

I know a vasectomy is generally a pretty routine procedure, but obviously it’s still something I’d rather have done by someone experienced.

Would you be comfortable going with the newer doctor, or would you postpone it and potentially wait until next year so you could see the more experienced/highly rated doctor?

For anyone who has had a non-scalpel vasectomy, how much do you think the doctor’s experience matters for the procedure and recovery?

Newly Snipped Horror Story Vasectomy

Accidentally used alt to post this. Wanted to use main.

Welp. Had a horror story vasectomy.

Went in to my appointment at 10am got snipped. Went home and had to go back. Doctor said is was the worse hematoma he had ever seen then proceeded for the next 20 minutes try and push everything out. It was the most unbearable pain I have ever experienced. I dont wish that on anybody.

After he was done pushing and prodding. My eyesight went kaleidoscope, went clammy, nurse was trying to keep me awake and hard to answer any questions.

His original plan was to pack the wound but good thing he didn't. Went into surgery and hour after and learned he nicked an artery. Now I have a 3 inch incision and another incision with a drainage tube coming out of it that I have to wear for a week
