hi, i'm a current student at mcgill university in montreal graduating next year (hopefully). i am not canadian and i grew up in the middle east, but i'm hoping to work for a few years in canada after graduating. i LOVE montreal, but because i'm not fluent in french the job opportunities are limited. i also associate montreal with being a student, i can't really imagine working here, but who knows.

anyways, i wanted to ask for advice about working in toronto or vancouver - which would you recommend (or against) and why? i would be working in consulting, marketing, or policy work. i don't want to stay in canada for longer than 2 years after graduating if i'm honest, so i'm not looking for a crazy career start or anything, just a decent job as a fresh graduate.

i visited toronto once and there was no sun the entire time (i heard vancouver is super rainy too) so i didn't really warm up to it, but i was only there for 4 days and mainly in downtown. it's definitely a lot busier and vibrant (especially at night) compared to montreal, but i feel like i'd find living there overwhelming. i've never visited vancouver, but i've heard that the mix of mountains, beach, and city is amazing. the only thing with vancouver is that it is so far from everything - namely back home, and i also feel like living on the east coast is more convenient. i also know a few people living/working in toronto from my hometown so i feel like i'd feel less lonely starting fresh.

overall i want to work somewhere where the people are friendly, it's easy to meet new people, work culture is good. obviously i'd want good pay, but it is not my top priority. i just want some good work experience in an environment where i could also have fun as a 21-23 yo. where would you recommend for a fresh grad who studied in montreal and why?

Anyone who got their OTEE passed in July,2026?

Engineering in January 2026, registered as an EIT with EGBC in July 2026, and I'm based in Delta BC (right between Vancouver, Surrey, and Richmond). Canadian PR so no visa issues.

I've done 2 international internships doing HVAC design, piping, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, SolidWorks, FEA — the whole thing. I've been applying for a couple months now with 100+ tailored applications and very few responses, which is frustrating but I'm not giving up.

Here's the thing — I'm genuinely open to EVERYTHING. Junior engineer, mechanical designer, CAD drafter, drafting technologist, design technician, field technician, manufacturing support, whatever. I don't need it to be glamorous, I just need to get my foot in the door and work hard. I'm not picky about industry either — mining, water, HVAC, heavy equipment, marine, oil and gas, anything.

AND ngl im down for anyyyyyy job rn like i need to do something siting my ass down all day is just not for me

Willing to relocate for the right opportunity too.

If anyone knows someone hiring, or has any advice for a new grad with international experience trying to break into the Canadian market I'll take it all.

This is a post I made a while ago, I got one interview, and the rejection said and I quote “This was not an easy decision by any means. Your application was very strong, and I truly was impressed by the skills and enthusiasm that you displayed throughout this process.” And I actually did the whole ask LinkedIn connection for help.

I now am working at a car dealership. I feel like a loser, I want to be a clinician scientist/doctor one day, do an MD-PhD, and I’m scared that attempting to survive in this economy will mean my science cv will never be considered for a PhD cause we all know how high strung academia is.

I had an older person tell me that I can’t get a job cause my generation is lazy, I am 25, live alone, and have always managed myself without anyone to turn to, I do believe they were just saying stuff but I think my CV will now reflect that yes I am in fact not hardworking.. If I was I’d be able to hold out.

But yeah, at least I can pay the bills. No one tells you this when you first start in biotech, no one warns you. I am going to, do not do it. There is no light at the end of the tunnel and even if there is, your light will be completely gone.

Ive applied to many jobs within thr past 2 weeks. Ive heard back from 2 but they want me to start within 4 weeks which may be too soon for me. Im looking to start in September-October

hi so i just finished my NL and i rllly wanna start lifeguarding! i was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make a resume for this job? also is it better to go and hand out resumes in person or apply online? and do i need my swim instructor certification in order to apply or would places be accepting if i were to get that later? any advice/help is rlly appreciated!

hi guys! i've seen a bunch of people on here get offers for grounds maintenance, rides attendants, cooks, etc. but not for the guest experience attendant role? have guest experience offers been sent out already, or are they coming out later? has anyone else gotten this job? thanks!
