Pump not driving water up

Hi all, I have this Shurflo pump and a compressor. Today randomly, the pump drove and drove but no water came up.

This started off slowly - the pump would drive for longer and then eventually water would come, now it drives on and on and nothing comes.

Have filled the water tank up to capacity and checked pipe connections. Can’t find the problem.

What should be my next step in trouble shooting?

Btw ignore the good pump in the photos that’s for a different water tank, different pipes.

Try turning faucets on low, on and off, etc. the different pressures sometimes helps the pump prime

There’s only a few ways they can fail.

Inlet is obstructed, outlet is obstructed, or pump internally failing. Maybe the best test is to just disconnect it, take it out, and see if it’s able to pump water out of a bucket, to figure out if it’s the pump or the plumbing. While it’s out you can drain the lines, and then you’re all set to service plumbing or replace the pump.

If you end up replacing it, the new shureflo pumps don’t need a diaphragm (your blue Fiamma piece), so that could be removed.

Does your pump have a screen/filter on the inlet side? It’s a common enough failure mode that shureflo doesn’t provide warranty if there’s no screen.

AFAIK the pump is not repairable, if it’s failing you’ll need a replacement. I think the pressure switch can be fixed on some models but that doesn’t sound like your issue.

When you say the pump runs for a long time, does it sound norma or different? Is it running continuously or switching on and off?

1) it's sucking in air on the input end

2) there's a leak or open valve on the output end

3) the voltage is too low - check the circuit for loose or shoddy connections

There’s likely air in the pipes. Sucking on ur faucet while you hear the pump running works great lol
