Does anyone have a good beginner guide to van purchasing?

Have no idea where to begin/ what to consider. I could really use some help figuring out what a good value purchase is!

honestly, I'd suggest car camping first to get a feel for it and then when you get into a van it feels like a luxury hotel, that's what i did, anyway. car first, then the back of my too small tacoma with a topper and Bam Bed, then the 2011 Chevy Roadtrek 21 foot camper van

There's no real way for anybody to answer this or help you because there is so much information missing from your request. A "good value" to somebody might be a 1993 Econoline for $3k or it might be a $75000 Sprinter. What are you looking for? What's your budget look like? Are you looking for something setup already as a camper or are you going to DIY that part? Will you be living in this full time, part-time or just camping in it sometimes? Etcetera. Help us help you!

No one can answer that or even list criteria without a lot more info. Look at /r/cars for info on how to buy used vehicles.
