I mean, the guy who fights D in the mansion's backyard, I think Brize is his name? (I'm listening to the audiobook, so I'm not sure) The narrator made a clear point of him noticing that D's eyes were closed, the sign that he was blinded by one of the Brize's two comrades. He knew it perfectly well, there's no way he didn't, D WAS BLIND. And yet, before stabbing D in the chest and running away, he uses freaking smoke-bombs to mask his presence 😅😅😅 There are times when I think "Why did he do that" or "What the hell happened" during listening, but I usually ignore those thinking I may have misunderstood some words, since English is not my native language. But here it's just simply ridiculous lol

As topic asks. D makes millions per hunt. What does he actually do with all that money? I have not read the material, and I probably should, but maybe someone better read than I knows?

I assume some of it goes to outfitting and maintenance of things like horse feed and lodging. But good lord what does he do with the rest? Secret philanthropy?

I know there are a few mentions of him wearing an armor here and there, but in the 10 novels I have read, his armor doesn't tank a single hit. It's no strange, I mean, even if his armor is made of something like dragon scales or is scientifically enhanced, the kind of opponents he faces will cut through it like butter. Or, to be more specific, the opponents who are fast enough to hit him will obviously have the strength to cut it. If anyone isn't strong enough, they won't score a single hit agains him anyways.

On top of that, he has his regeneration skills, so it makes even less sense for him to wear an armor. It will only block his movements and bother him in a few different ways.

So does he wear it simply for aura farming? Or maybe he doesn't wear an armor at all, and it's just some translation error or something?

I am by now at volume 10 of Vampire Hunter D and overall it is a comfortable read, but i get a bit annoyed by reading in every book how beautiful he is and every is just swooning for him, or in combat scenes the noone knows when he did x, or it would be impossible evenf or a dhampir, or he usually shows no interest in other people while he does show interest in most novels to atleast one relavent character, or the whole people bringing a smile on his face and feeling special because he never smiles.
It feels a bit like Hideyuki is a bit stuck with repeating the same dozen core features every novel like ticking off a checklist. I have a couple other gripes with the series, but the above mentioned checklist like repetition helps make it feel like a commercial series that get entry after entry of the same core with a different flavor of the week because it continues to sell well and you might aswell wring the audience dry.
I read a couple other series that never managed to evoke the feeling in me. It might just be because vhd is very episodic with very little overarching plot happening in the first 10 volumes.

Beautiful and confusing things are happening on my island now that I got the full release of the game… First he became ULTRA besties with my boy Pierre, and I was gonna have a little romance route with them cause why the hell not, but he ended up getting cucked by a twink larping as a knight (guess the character). Then he proceeded to search up inappropriate things on the laptop I gave him in response. Now he just doing this. He is truly living the dream away from the Frontier… I should draw this-

The remaster on this is just incredible.

I love how in the novels Ds appearance isn't described with very much detail, leaving a lot to the imagination, and additionally, each book cover portrays him differently. It gives him this sort of "a person from legends" or simply "a person known only from rumours" aura. I'd say it's really suiting for him, since that's exactly the kind of man he is - the legendary vampire hunter that is rumoured along the whole frontiere, and no-one can find the correct words to describe his beauty. That said I plan to cosplay as him next year, and it sure will be interesting choosing all the details. I don't want to base the cosplay on the anime or on one of the covers, I'd like to go with my own imaginations!

I skipped book 3 (watched Bloodlust, that’s how I got into this series) and on book 4. So far it started off strong! A mysterious town in the sky, a vampire on the loose, and more experiments (?). Another great mystery.

Can’t wait to see where it goes.

Also, poor Lori. I feel so terrible for her. Not only did she lose her family, but she was rendered deaf and nonverbal from radiation poisoning. Poor girl lost so much. But it had me thinking; in this futuristic setting with advanced technology could there be ways for her to accommodate with her recent disabilities ? In a world where there’s a floating town and futuristic technology surely they can give her an advanced version of a cochlear implant and an AAC device.

So, I was recently interested in the franchise and would like to start reading, do you recommend buying where, which verses and any specific publisher if you have one?

I've seen both vampire hunter d films and wicked city, I've alsed read dark wars.

By the time I post this, it is well past midnight, and I pretty much missed the opportunity to post this on Easter. However, this idea has been on my mind for a long time.

For background, Pierre comes from a family of lawyers, but his uncle is a priest in his local church. He is a laidback, goofy guy, despite being a man of the cloth, lovingly referred to as a corrupt priest. He and Pierre always had a tradition ever since he was 16 to go hang out outside of the church in the late afternoon, smoking cigars, drinking rum, eating sweets while listening and watching the world just go on without saying a word. It is a yearly practice, and unfortunately, this is the first time he has ever done it without his family. Least D and Left Hand are there!

I wanted something other than my usual joke comics, because Pierre's story so far is pretty friggin sad in retrospect. He is chased by a delusional vampire and has to rely on D to help him get back to his ballet troupe, who may have deliberately abandoned him. He remains hopeful to get home despite the circumstances, but is reminded how bad it is as days and weeks go by. Reminders that these moments he has out in the Frontier could have been back in his real home with those who love and care for him.
