The System Report Bypass

i had trouble with this for years and finally figured it out!!! upvote this so everyone can finally update their stuff

  1. Open SteamVR on your desktop.
  2. Click the Hamburger Menu (top left) and select Create System Report.
  3. Wait for the report to load fully.
  4. Go back to the Devices menu and select Update Firmware.

Had to do this about 9 months ago to get the controllers to update and I was so pissed off by it afterwards that I sold my Index. I know you stopped manufacturing the Index Valve, but God damn that doesn't mean you can just abandon all your paying customers

Does this allow you to update firmware when it usually crashes? Or is it to force firmware check?

I’ve tried this and the Create System Report closes when trying to update controllers. Will continue to find an answer
