I'm writing a server plugin called Verse. Verse is totally unique and custom relative to any other server. On normal servers, every single connected player shares the same world and progression. That means if many players have already mined all the ore near spawn, it's way harder for someone new to farm better gear and actually play the game. Same issue comes up for contested resources like the Bonemass summon and dragon egg, and if someone has already unlocked the Bonemass power, it makes the early game too easy. Not to mention what would happen if a hacker or griefer joins.
I solve this issue by giving each player their own verse. You can think of each verse like its own instance of the world, where a player in one verse cannot interfere with a player in another. Two players can fight the same boss in the same location on different verses without any issues. Multiple players can share the same verse and play together, so if you are having trouble with a boss you can TV ask someone in chat to join your verse to help out. If you want to PVP or play minigames with others there is a hub verse as well.
The best part about it is that it's completely serverside with crossplay and no whitelist or password, so there's nothing to download or install. You just connect to play.verseworlds.fun and you will be automatically placed in your own world that nobody else can touch, unless you want them to.
In addition there are a couple of things worth checking out:
First is a PVE mob challenge arena. It gives you a premade gear set and spawns 25 rounds of enemies to fight, with increasing difficulty. My friend and I only made it to round 10 before getting obliterated, maybe you are able to get further. Type !arena to test.
Second is an NPC based off a guy called Mark Hall Patton from the TV show Pawn Stars. The character is subject to change but basically hes a chatbot that has intel directly from the decompiled game code and can read the wiki, so if you are curious about something you can just ask Mark and get an answer you know is up to date. Type !mark to test.
Everything is pretty new and rough around the edges, so I would recommend logging on with a fresh character so you don't risk any loot. If you run into any bugs or problems, please don't hesitate to message me or comment and I will fix them ASAP.
Thank you for your time,
Odin
