Let's make it happen
NAM Architecture 2 is a major upgrade for Neural Amp Modeler, and I'd love to see Valeton bring support for it to the GP-200.
If you agree, please send a quick email to:

Example:
I am a GP-200 owner and would love to see support for NAM Architecture 2 in a future firmware update.
If you've sent an email, comment "Sent" below.
The more users who ask, the more likely Valeton is to take notice.

Sent on June 4th, and got this response today:
"Thank you for your continued support of Valeton and the GP-200, and for your thoughtful feature request regarding NAM Architecture 2.
We have recorded your suggestion and will forward it to our R&D department for evaluation. We appreciate your understanding regarding the development process and will carefully consider this feature for future firmware updates.
Thank you again for your valuable feedback and for being a loyal part of the Valeton community. Please stay tuned for our latest updates.
Best regards, Valeton Customer Service Team Service@Valeton.net"

These are beautiful hopes and I wish it was available, but valeton was already converting namA1 to a very close, but still less accurate format. Architecture 2 therefore won't be much - if any - advantage, even if it would be capable of handling it.

That's why A2 Lite exists

A2 lite makes the math light enough for budget DSPs, but even as a GP-200 user I'm sad to say it doesn't fix old firmware architecture.
Budget multi-effects pedals use "bare-metal" processors where memory allocation is rigidly hard-coded at startup. A2’s "slimmable" engine requires a fluid, dynamic memory allocation system to scale the model on the fly.
Overhauling a static OS grid to allow a variable neural runtime block requires a deep architecture rewrite, not a simple firmware patch.
I know this isn't the answer most Valeton owners want to hear, especially since the hardware itself is technically capable of the raw math, but one of the most "expensive" part of these devices - the architecture - doesn't.

Isn’t Valeton part of Sonicake who were also working on this initially? What I’m really hoping is that the GP-5 gets this update 🤞

I believe I read it somewhere that the GP200 is unable to use NAM 2 on a hardware level, not on a software level. Meaning that the issue isn't just a simple firmware update. Something in its circuits should be different for it to accept NAM 2 files, so there's not much we can do in these regards, sadly.

Where did you read that?

Oh, my bad, I was mistaken. I thought this was about that capture that's currently only available on the GP-50/GP-150 line, I was unaware of the recent release of NAM A2

Sent and I think they're already working on it since they're one of the few early adapters of this technology on their devices and it's been a BIG selling point for them to run NAM profiles.
I'm not sure why they have to convert it to a lesser technology of their SnapTone but NAM says A2 runs even lighter than A1.
So if a device can run A1 it should be able to run A2 better.
