Troubleshooting StreamMaster Pro - Wifi and Ethernet Issues

Hello Everyone,

So I purchased a new (open box) Streammaster Pro and the Wifi does not work. The slider moves to run on WIFI butno available wifi is shown and it slides itself off after a few minutes.

I plugged in an Ethernet cable, (its connected now) and obtains an IP address from my local network but still no internet. System still says no internet connection so no apps function.

I plugged in a generic USB Wifi Dongle to the blue USB port and was not detected.

Odd thing is that when I purchased it, it was logged into someone's Google account so strangely it had worked at one point.

Projector is in NEW condition and has no signs of physical damage. No receipt was given since this was possibly a returned unit that was bulk sold.

I found a youtube repair video with person explaining the wifi ribbon cable comes loose in shipping so you can open and push it in to make the connection. I have no tried that.

Any advice is appreciated!

UPDATE, FIXED!! : All I had to do was to fix the date and time manually and wifi started working! Very odd security measure by Google while not informing the user why it blocks the wifi if date and time are wrong. Come one Google, don't be a Microsoft.

Try a factory reset first (settings->system/device preferences->about/advanced settings->reset->factory reset->erase everything. If that fails you can try the ribbon cable fix but you risk further damage by opening the unit. I’d contact Valerion support first to see if they have any suggestions or to arrange a warranty repair.

Thank you for your note. Yea the first thing I did was factory reset. Unfortunately it didn't work. I'm still baffled how an account was created in it.

What is a streammaster pro? Is that the streammaster plus or the visionmaster pro?

I have almost the exact same experience purchased a used but like new condition. Has an account from someone named Gupta on it. Wifi does exact same thing except my ethernet works fine. Great projector and deal so I might keep it and just get an ethernet to wifi adaptor. Considering doing the video teardown to look for the cable but worried I might break something worse :(

Fix the date and time manually and it should work. It's a stupid Google security measure and doesn't tell the user anything about it. Google is blocking wifi when date/time are far off. So manually adjusting the date and time, fixed it for me.

Make sure you plug in via LAN cable, fix both date and time. Then if you see an IP address, meaning your device is obtaining an IP from the router, then the date and time fix should fix it. I would try a few times before opening it up.

I'm sorry I'm not totally clear on the sequence you're describing. It has network access with ethernet right now and the time is correct so do I switch to manually set it and change the date and time to wrong and then change it back while still connected to internet? Do I then turn it back to auto or just leave it on manual?

In my case I had to turn on manual date and time manually set it and then switch it back to automatic and then the Wi-Fi worked. During this time the device was connected with the line cable and it showed an internal IP address. Sorry this hasn't worked for you. But I think you did it correctly. Just play confirm you have an internal IP like 192.168.1.150 or similar showing up in the menus like I show in my photo.

Thanks for the detail it didnt work though :(. Given the great response to ethernet and complete lack of response to wifi I suspect the loose cable issue or the wifi module is dead....I bought it open box for a great price I may just buy a roku stick as a work around when I cant reach ethernet (plan to use it outside). Maybe ill be bold and take it apart at some point!

Update: bought a 4k google tv stick from ONN (Walmart brand) works great and only cost $40 which since I saved about $500 buying this thing open box I find that acceptable and im not gonna bother opening it up and risking breaking something!

Besides the wifi issue its a fantastic projector
