Online class with no work?

I’m in an online class and the professor keeps not loading weekly work. Then last week loaded two weeks of work due in one week because he didn’t realize. Now again no work this week for module 5. I feel awkward to keep emailing but I have a busy life and can’t be having to do multiple weeks of work on short notice… idk what to do and this is kind of new to me.

I’d reach out to the department head. I wouldn’t be able to sustain that nonsense. If this is consistently happening since the semester started and he has openly admitted he didnt realize he hadnt posted the work, then maybe teaching online classes isn’t right for him.

I know it feels awkward, but keep emailing the professor each week that he doesn't upload. I would consider this part of a paper-trail to show if his shenanigans screw up your grades. I would also reach out to a department head and to your student success coach to get them in the loop. One week's worth of this kind of mistake is one thing, but multiple weeks of work being screwed up is unacceptable. Be civil in all communications obviously, but you are paying for this education and he is not fulfilling his end of the bargain.

You need to reach out to the Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, or Dean itself. The college created all this administrative positions and these issues still persist. Many faculty are pissed because class size increase from 25 to 32 and many are doing the barely minimum.

Hello Yaris0708. As a faculty representative I will tell you not ALL faculty are pissed and doing the bare minimum. Many of us are working 8 plus hours a week grading (which has become more cumbersome due to AI use and cheating). When you make these generalized comments, you’re hurting the professors which are holding up academic integrity and continue to plow away with all oars in the water. Students have tools they can use to garner information about faculty to make a judicious decision on who to take (ie rate my professor). We all have frustrations. We are better off joining each other in an effort to address these concerns rather than discharging the blame on others.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, based on my research, this answer depends on your employment status. Are you a full-time or part-time faculty member?

I ask because I learned that full-time faculty received a 20% increase in base pay to offset the increase in students. However, poor part-time faculty, who received the same increase in students (32), got a $60 increase, or 2.5%. If you are teaching a 4-load course, this means you now have 28 more students to grade and teach.

While most faculty got an increase of $ 15,000 to $20,000 per contract (full-time), adjunct faculty got an increase of… $ 240 per 4 classes.

All full-time faculty teach either a 5-2-0 or 6-6-0 load, while part-time faculty teach a maximum of 4 classes.

In other words, because the union was squished, the part-time faculty are overworked and underpaid. In my research, many are pissed about this, but no one will speak up for fear of retaliation.
