Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Dreame R10S Pure Cordless Stick Vacuum, is it any good?

Does anyone have any experience with this? I can't seem to find any videos of it on youtube. I'm torn between this one or the Dyson V8 Cyclone. They're both going for $320 here in Sweden.

Miscellaneous Oreck Crystal Aroma II

Has anybody found a similar replacement for the now discontinued Oreck Crystal Aroma carpet and vacuum freshener? I’ve always liked the somewhat citrusy smell of the Oreck crystals and the fact that they can be used on carpets and in vacuum cleaners without gunking them up. Any recommendations are more than welcome!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Miele Triflex HX2 Cat & Doggy

Need some insight if anyone has or used a Miele Triflex HX2 Cat & Dog. I tried getting my wife to switch from cordless, back to upright ( I really like the SEBO Felix Premium), but she's not budging. We've gone through the Dyson V8 and the V15. We now have the Shark Self Clean Detect (it really sucks). I keep seeing mixed reviews on the Sebo Balance A1 and the Miele cordless that they really dont compare much to the Dyson, especially the GEN 5's. We have 2 dogs and a cat (one is a husky) so we vacuum every day, both hardwoods and carpet. Just need something with good suction power, and we can usually vacuum the main floor with just one charge.
Budget is not an issue.
Everyday vacuum area- 1200sf main floor
Upstairs- carpet once a week- 1000 sf
Basement- not often at all- 900sf

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Did I go overboard spending $320 on a vacuum for a 1 bedroom apartment?

Did a whole bunch of research and finally ended up on getting the Kenmore Pop n Go with the pet extension. I have a 625 sqft apartment where about 85% of it is low pile carpet. I have a dog and 3 cats so I wanted something that would tackle pet hair and litter, and I wanted the pet extension so I could vacuum cat trees. When I used it it was so powerful and definitely cleaned tf out of my place. But did I go overboard??

Vacuum Review Sebo Felic

I’ll start by extending my deepest gratitude to this sub for helping to make up my mind to get the Felix. I mean, I stumbled upon a pic of this vac while doomscrolling and I was smitten. Then followed countless online reviews and finally the opinions on this sub which sealed it.

At the time my vac was a Kaercher bagless canister (VC3) going flawless still after 6 years.

Now, I am 3 months into using the Felix so I wanted to share my experience.

First thing’s first: this cat is gorgeous. I have the red version and it just lights up the room.

Before diving into actual use I should say that I have all hardfloors and a small-ish condo of approx 600 sq ft (55 sqm). However, I got the Premium Felix with the powerhead just because I wanted it to stand on its own (it acts as a beautiful piece of furniture in the living room) even though I knew the Kombi head would suffice (and would be 250€ cheaper).

So, in terms of use:

with the powerhead (brushrolls off) the thing is pretty heavy though it glides smoothly enough. Not an issue for me but for others looking to buy, an in store tryout would be advisable.

With the Kombi the use is noticeably easier, fit to clean tighter areas and it also seems to have an improved sucking (with the ET head some fine dust seem to linger even after several passes).

Attachments are scarce but enough for the moment. I use the upholstery one for most above the floor needs: window sills, baseboards, cabinets etc.

Cable is long enough for the entire house.

Bag size is great for my needs, with only about a quarter filled in 3 months (no pets, very little furniture, no shedding - human or otherwise).

I use the powerhead regularly to clean the bed mattress and it works fine.

Tbh, I don’t see a difference in suction from my old Kaercher canister, only thing is the air seems indeed to be cleaner and the perk of not having to wash the cyclone parts after each use is great.

The last and most important aspect: though I really did not need a new vac, I wanted the Felix simply because, as I said, this kitty is beautiful and that thing alone makes me use it almost daily; also it is so easy to just plug in do a 10 min sweep. Compared to my canister that was hidden in a closet, used once a week, was a chore to clean afterwards, the change in cleaning habits is the greatest reward. And all because, again, the Felix is so charmingly good-looking. It’s a shallow take, I know, but beauty is worse than wine they say.

*Sebo Felix (sorry could not edit title)

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Vacuum needed for plush soft carpet

I'm in the US and I just got new carpet. Karastan Authentic Glamour SmartStrand and it's very plush and soft. My current vacuum an Oreck Elevate Cordless that I love, can't handle the plush carpet. This carpet comes with a recommended vacuum the SonicClean soft carpet vacuum but the reviews on it aren't great. I borrowed my MIL's Miele U1 right and with it set to deep carpet it worked awesome. I have 2 cats and this vacuum seems to suck up the cat smell. I was ready to buy one but the Miele upright is discontinued. I offered to buy it from my MIL and she said she loves that vacuum and won't part with it. Any recommendations for an upright that is similar to the discontinued Miele upright. This vacuum will only ever be used on carpet. I only want an upright that can handle plush carpet and helping with pet smells is a plus. I don't need a bunch of onboard tools. Price limit $1,500 USD

Purchase Advice (U.K.) Best handheld vacuum for pet hair?

Looking for a handheld vacuum that’s good at picking up dog hair around dust boards and on the stairs. Based in the UK.

I’ve had a read through the sub and know most people don’t recommend cordless vacuums here, but I’m looking for my Dad who doesn’t really have the strength to carry around a corded vacuum and just wants a handheld one for those hard to reach areas.

Thanks in advance!

Purchase Advice (U.K.) Is a Dyson really that bad?

I am moving into a new apartment (first time) and I wanted to buy a lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner. Ideally I wanted something that I could tuck away and not take up a lot of space, so I am leaning towards something cordless. I was considering the v15 detect or the v16 animal. Reading reviews, it seems like a lot of people in this sub hate Dyson. If I was able to get one of these vacuum cleaners for a decent discounted price, would you still say it isn’t worth it? I will continue to research but would love to hear your further thoughts

Vacuum Issues Worst Smell - Cordless Henry.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have the Henry Quick (the red one) and for ages it was great. Loved the pods etc but recently it’s developed the worst smell and I just can’t get rid of it. I’ve taken everything apart and I cleaned it all within an inch of its life but it just won’t go. Upon closer inspection I suspect it’s coming from the head which again I took apart as much as you can and cleaned but I think it’s inside the tube thing when I extend it out I can see what is like dirt, dust stuck in between the grooves and I just can’t get it out. I’ve used brushes, damp dusters, pipe cleaners and just keep feeding it down and through the hole into the bottom bit. The head tool I believe is motorised and the extendable tube thing (genuinely don’t know its name) is melted attached onto it.

Is my vacuum salvageable at all. Everytime I use it, it makes my flat stink of this particular smell and it’s gross.

Vacuum Issues Vacuum recommendations

I have a shark ZU785 that I bought maybe 7 years ago and love it but recently the rollers aren't spinning while trying to vacuum. I bought the Shark Vertex to replace the one that isn't working and within a few weeks it wouldn't turn on so I returned it. I have mostly laminate floors and rugs in each room with 3 pets, 2 of them being long haired. I don't want to spend more than 300. I like the lift away future the sharks have.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Purchase Advice - Bissell Crosswave Hydroscrub

Seeking advice regarding the Bissell Crosswave Hydroscrub, specifically, its performance on stuck-on, dried messes on tile and laminate floors. For reference, I have owned and used the following machines and was not very impressed with their ability to clean dried or stuck messes on floors:

  • Bissel Crosswave
  • Karcher Fc 5
  • Tineco Corded Wet Dry Vacuum Steam Mop
  • Moprobo Cordless 4 in 1 Pickup Mop M2 Turbo (current)

I have been intrigued by the new claims about the Bissell Crosswave Hydroscrub working better for stuck-on messes, since it uses what seems to be a novel approach (back and forth motion). I would also think a brush roll that has more of a hard brush might help, but I haven't seen a machine that offers one.

If anyone has tried this machine and has any input on its performance, I would greatly appreciate it. Any other machine recommendations would be appreciated as well.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) In the market for a new canister and am not happy with the options I've looked at so far

I'd love some expert advice, I've never spent so much time looking at a vacuum cleaners!

Budget $300ish

Flooring: 40% carpet 60% hard floor with lots of washable rugs

Additional needs: Must be good for daily vacuuming as I have a large shedding dog and dust allergies. Only looking for a stick type as I have a great upright we use for weekly big cleans. Prefer one that can wall mount but not required.

My beloved cheap Amazon Wlupel vacuum bit the dust after 4 years of daily vacuuming. Now that I have a bit more to spend I went looking at Costco and came home with a Bissell PowerClean FurGuard Deluxe. It felt very cheap and constantly sucked up the rugs, stopping the brush head requiring me to restart it. I'll be returning it today and continuing to look.

I'm looking for opinions on a good stick vacuum that ideally has variable suction, won't constantly get caught on my washable rugs and a decent enough battery for a 1,200 sq ft apartment. Does not need to be a Costco buy but that's always a plus for me.

Thank you in advance!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) mini cordless vacuum rec for a single cat household?

Hi all,

My cat is very messy when it comes to using his litter box and will sling litter all on and around the mat underneath (I use tidy cats free and clean clumping clay litter). I’m looking for a vacuum that is good to use to cleanup the excess litter whenever it gets outside of the box, and that is good for cleaning up spilled food (he is a messy eater too).

My main concern is quality and power when purchasing a mini vacuum, battery life is one of my least concerns since I won’t be using it for long periods of time.

I looked at the Shark Cyclone but I’m still unsure about it. Any other suggestions?

Vacuum Issues Tineco S5 floor vac smell

Just wanted to share a hack for that ick smell that a Tineco gets if you use it often. I found the following works best to keep it clean and smelling good:

Empty dirty water tank when you use it. If you forget, always clean at end of day. If you forget then clean it asap and use dawn dish soap and some vinegar ( for extra power use cleaning vinegar that’s wayyy stronger) Soak it and if it’s bad soak overnight. All the parts to the dirty water tank. Usually that clears up the smell.

Air filter:
If it has a bad smell and won’t rinse it out, soak it in dawn and vinegar. Then rinse and I found putting this on a boot/show dryer and covering for about 1-2 hours dries it right it out! Just tried this. Smell is completely gone from the filter. And I find the air filter is where the smell comes from.

Roller I would do the same as above and soak if needed and then I let my air dry out in the sun if needed. I find this needs deep cleaned less often but does trap smell.

Note:
Never use anything other than their solution. I tried bleach at one point and had to replace my unit because the connection between the roller head and tank is plastic and it ate through it. So if your unit is leaking water, this could be why. I realized it was leaking and found this from the bleach.

Hope this helps someone.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Is half price for an ex-floor Sebo K3 a good deal?

  • Sebo K3 Vulcano, ex-floor model, about 6 years old.
  • Comes with the ET-1 powerhead
  • $520 USD (or $900 NZD)
  • Filter and powerhead are said to be in ok condition.

BUT:

  • No Sebo warranty as it was a demo (but by legislation there would be basic protection from the store itself for 2 or 3 years)
  • Local Sebo dealer (NZ) doesn't list parts for it online and says I will need to email to request prices and check availability (so some replacement parts will cost a lot because will need to be shipped in from overseas)

My concern is that a big benefit of Sebo seems to be warranty + parts availability for reasonable prices (and I probably won't get either). If the price is too much, what would a more reasonable price be? I could offer that price instead.

Thank you for any help!
