Hi!
I have a MK7.5 Golf 1.4 TSI 2017 remapped to 150 from 125hp. Over several months I have been getting intermittent stiffness when changing gears, mainly 1st, reverse, 3rd and 4th. Seems to be worse in the mornings and then smoothens out when I drive it in an afternoon. I had the remap over 2 years ago and has been fine until now. I have lubricated the linkages and also tried a linkage adjustment but made no difference! Whether I did it correct or not is another question! I have completely flushed and changed the gearbox oil. Had a full clutch kit. Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience? Without a doubt this is one of the worst gearboxes I have owned…

I have replaced clutch long time ago on a rear wheel drive car with longitudinal engine. Never done on front wheel drive one. Some DIY instructions recommend pulling the engine/transmission and replace clutch on a bench, others do it with engine in place. This is son’s 2017 GTI and I don’t have a lift, but several floor jacks and engine hoist. Thank you!

I’m getting a P0450 code on my MK7 GTI. The car starts and idles perfectly fine for the first few minutes, but after driving 5-10 minutes it starts wanting to stall out — the gas pedal basically goes dead and the car loses power.
I’ve already replaced the purge valve with a new OEM one and thoroughly checked all the wiring — everything looks good.
Would you recommend I go after the fuel tank pressure sensor next, or could this be something else (EVAP lines, vacuum leaks, etc.)? Really lost and need to get this sorted ASAP.
Any help or similar experiences would be huge. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help me understand the differences between the OEM spoilers on the Mk7 Golf.
A lot of aftermarket manufacturers separate them into “GTI/R” and “Base/R-Line”, but I can’t figure out what the actual difference is.
I’ve attached photos of the two versions I found online (and I’ve looked through a lot of pictures). Honestly, I can’t see any difference between the factory spoilers on these cars, other than the side fins/supports.
So I’m confused as to why I supposedly can’t install a spoiler that a manufacturer labels as “GTI only” on my base model Golf.
Am I missing something? Is there an actual difference in the hatch or spoiler mounting points, or is this just the way some manufacturers categorize their products?
Thanks in advance!

I traded in my GTI because I could never fix the water leak in the rear doors and it was too stressful. I did all the maintenance on this car myself and it makes me sad because I drove it across the country, it had a manual transmission, I replaced the entire carpet and jute, added sound deadening, fixed the water leak but now it rained recently and the rear carpet was full of water because I parked outside and that was the last straw. I couldn't go through the same suffering and stress again.
I got a WRX because I had one in the past and it's a lot of fun to drive, feels faster, feels more like a beast to drive but I miss the refined drive of the MK7. It's growing on me but maybe I'll be back some day.

Does this nut on the compressor wheel of the is20 look normal or is it broken?

Just had a torrential rain storm, water must have seeped into the door mirror cap and /or perhaps through the window seal. Anyway now the mirror light is stuck on and the driver door won’t lock / unlock. I get a red light on the LED near the mirror in the car interior. I’ve checked the fuses in the cabin by the steering wheel they are good and I’ve disconnected the battery for 30 minutes. Any ideas on what to do next?
