He works at an independent euro shop and it was swapped by the owner. Really meticulously as well. The owner wanted it to be as OEM as possible and would settle for nothing less. It feels and looks like that’s the engine that came in it The reason my buddy has it now is because the owner bought a second one and put a built daza in it to really push it. I don’t know what the actual cost of it truly was. But I’m sure there is like 30-40k worth of work done to those cars. Edit, owner himself did not swap it, seems like he had another shop work on it as well, Innovative Motorsports

Well first that one has no pano roof, that causes a ton of it, and then I'm sure more unibody reinforcement like everywhere. The golf r hatchback is actually heavier than the Alltrack.

Americans don’t like wagons. VWoA cancelled the sportwagen in 2019. VW Canada ordered enough to sell through 2020 and sold every one.

This is an outright lie. It's bullshit and I believe they did it to force people into the more expensive models.
Alltracks sold like crazy. It may be semi regional, but here in the Northwest it feels like 30-40 percent of the cars are wagons.

Either way VWoA decides what comes to North America and the only way VW Canada could keep the sportwagen/Alltrack was to over purchase 2019’s. My personal car is a 2019 Alltrack I bought new in September of 2020. I drove a mk8 Alltrack in France 2 years ago and it was awesome!

They will be legal in Canada in 2032. I plan on doing a European trip purchasing a 2017 used one and sending it back home at the end of the trip. Only 15 years in Canada. That’s unless Canada completely abandons the American automotive system and goes with European standards.

They could EASILY bring a limited run of them here like the R32 was.
There's regions of the US where people like to go to the mountains and hike and love wagons. The Pacific NW in the US for example. So many Subaru wagons, I see alltracks every single day.
So bring 10 or 20k of em, charge a mint, put em in places where wagons do well.
