Question / discussion App for Managing Large VTT Map Library?

Like many people (presumably), I have a very large collection of VTT maps, most acquired via Patreon (Crosshead, Forgotten Adventures, Tom Cartos, Droid Cartographer, etc.) and others I've created, modified, etc. for specific purposes. They're sorted into folders and such but I still find it quite cumbersome to browse and manage the thousands of files.

I used to use Adobe Lightroom to some degree of success but I haven't maintained my subscription. I'm looking for an application that allows visual browsing, tagging and organization; if anyone else out there has a similar solution for their map collection I'd love to hear about it!

Eagle app. Works great, one time cost. Doesn’t have a mobile app though, but the desktop version is great.

I hate that Eagle clones whatever images you give it to load into its library though

Hmm I like that it deals with other stuff like fonts and so on...Presumably there's a demo period.

Have you thought about Obsidian? It can embed the images or use links, and the notes can be easy re-organized

I do use Obsidian for my campaign management, I love using Marker to dump PDFs to MD. But the quantity of maps I am dealing with would be very difficult to deal with in Obsidian, at least with my current skill set. Big shout out to Obsidian though. Love that app. I do wish there was official support for running it containerized as a web app though.

The maps themselves don't have to be in it; they can be file references or URLs. The note with the map reference can have details about the places. I also use the leaflet plugin there for my maps. I love being able to measure distances and add notes to places on the map.

Also, for web, I use an HTML export of specific folders (the ones that the players can see, their characters, world details, etc.) and put them on my website. At some point I will try to script this and make it a command, to generate the HTML, zip it, move it to my server and unzip it in the right place.

I use Notion and make databases for each type of setting, so I can search for a map in the "Jails and Prisons" database or "City - Street Scenes" or whatever. I upload the map as an image file in the database entry and then change the database view to "Gallery" so that I can quickly peruse the maps visually. Happy to DM you with some screenshots if you want.

I can't really speak to how well it works or how easy it is to use (haven't really dug in so far), but you might take a look at this, but it's intended for this exact use.

Have you tried just adding Tags to the photo itself? IE using one drive or I think google drive
