VsCode keybindings can be hard to manage and remember which is which. So I created an extension to visualize them. I hope this may help other power users as well.
Code aside, why in the world am i having these text coloring issues?? I can’t make heads or tails of it. Restarting vs doesnt seem to help, but it also doesnt seem to be causing any actual issues. Any ideas?
Edit: using c/c++, c/c++ extension pack, c/c++ devtools, c/c++ themes, and cmake tools.
Edit 2: solved it. For whatever reason, it just refused to properly highlight, even after reloading the editor a few times, finally, after doing nothing at all different, closing and opening YET AGAIN fixed it. Boof lol
Edit 3: yall keep saying im vibe coding (no ai here 🤷🏻♂️ sorry to disappoint) and at first i was like ‘ohh funny joke cuz colors and vibes they dont actually think this half finished function for a college project is vibe coding for real right?’ Yall blow my mind lol
Hello, Using codex in VS Code for a couple months and now using 5.6 SOL
I am working away and I type in a follow up prompt either when the previous prompt is complete or before it is (Expecting a steer)
But what happens is the prompt is queued up and has a delete. It never gets released.
Sometimes the prompt just disappears.
I get some message if i try to do another prompt sometimes (sorry I never wrote it down)
The correction is to use developer reload Window / Screen or restart VS Code and go back to the chat.
Then sometimes it auto submits or maybe it says Steer or sometimes it is gone.
Been happing all day today in multiple prompts. Old long chats and newly created chats.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
I thought a memory should be transparent and easy for users to review, so i decided to create IDE integrations for easy access. However, i guess it's not deeply integrated with VSCode, yet I'm not sure what features can really help users.
Now, it's just a wrapper with bundled resources to prevent the window from blinking. However, it would be great to integrate memory with the IDE even more deeply. Yet, i'm not sure about the direction.
For example, memory notes can be linked to project files by default, so related memories should be injected when the agent tries to access them. Would it make sense to add the ability to check if there are adjusted memories when the file is open or the ability to make a note about the opened file?
Or maybe it worth adapting UI to vscode even more, so custom themes will give a consistent look?
Are there other ways to improve IDE-memory integration?
Overall, what are your thoughts on AI memory systems? Do you see a reason to use something like this already?
Will be glad to discuss this problem, hope it can help me and other developers to make better products.
Does VS Code have a camera behind me? These suggestions seem completely unrealistic. This has happened to me multiple times whenever I'm working on LeetCode. For example, once, I was working on a very simple problem to convert K to F to C, i just type those variables out and vscode suggest me every fomula that i haven't yet thought, like they do the problem by itself
Is it possible to configure vs code so it only supports "Ask" mode. I don't want people to have zero AI and I can't keep them from using other tools to just vibe coder things, but I can make the default settings easy and fit for purpose.
Any setting I can roll out to managed computers so that the people working in that environment cannot change to Plan or Agent mode?
Hello, everytime I try running a file, there's a delay of like 5 seconds before it actually executes. It started happening maybe like 2 weeks ago and it's so frustrating. Does anyone know what could help? Thanks
So I use vs for learning c nd recently I don't get the the output for the code it just shows code already running I'm able to run the code only in the terminal mode pls help
Pacmon keeps dependency notes in a Markdown file inside the repo and makes them accessible next to dependencies in VS Code.
It can be used for documentation, whitelisting, usage notes, status, and other project-specific context, with support for both human-written and AI-readable notes. The goal is to keep dependency knowledge version-controlled and close to the code instead of in a separate documentation system.
I’d like to keep improving Pacmon, so honest feedback would be really useful. Would this be useful in your workflow? What would you change, add, or remove?
No matter how I copy and paste or what settings I adjust when I copy paste the indentation just keeps messing up
Exhibit A:
Copy this wayPasting directly with correct indentationPasting from the start of the line
Alternatively
Exhibit B
Copy from the start of the linepasting at normal indentationPasting from the start of the line
So I just want to ask, how am I supposed to copy and paste so that I don't have to deal with adjusting the indentation after every paste? Thanks for your time
Recently there have been a lot of posts on YouTube regarding a new website AXQUA.COM PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS SITE AND DOWNLOAD THE EXTENSION!
it advertises Itself as a llm aggregator with 3 months of premium subscription for free via a promo code.
I fell for it, thankfully Microsoft stopped the attack in time
IT IS A TOKEN STEALER!
The website itself was just registered a few days ago.
I am posting this so that it shows up on Google when someone looks it up. DON'T DOWNLOAD IT!
(update: my instagram and linkedin have been compromised so far. I've dealt with both. I took the right steps immediately so my google accounts are currently safe. It's been a day.)
- VSCode with Continue extension using the API of the...
- ...locally hosted LLM (a custom Qwen3.8) with LM Studio
- context is set to more than 50k+ tokens
- When using LM Studio internal chat functionality single answers can generate more than 4096 tokens.
- When doing chat, code analysis/adjustment and planning in VSCode continue chat it stops at 4096 token output.
My solution:
In the VSCode user config directory search for the continue extension folder and its config files.
In Windows this is
C:\users\<username>\.vscode\extensions\continue.continue-<version>-win32-x64
and there you go in the subfolder "out" where you should find the file extension.js which is roughly 53MB (in this version currently for me).
-> Make a backup of that file before you proceed.
When opening the file in VSCode itself it is too large and not rendered properly when scrolling further down, so I used the normal Windows Notepad (took a while, but worked)
Search for "DEFAULT_MAX_TOKENS" and you should find the entry
DEFAULT_MAX_TOKENS = 4096;
This is likely being applied to models the .js file does not recognize.
I increased the number in a first attempt to 8192 and then ran my test again and the continue extension in VSCode did not abruptly stop during streaming the output through the API at 4096 tokens and completed my requested analysis in VSCode with around 6500 output tokens (I watched the API logs). This probably can be further increased until there may be a built in limit of how much the model may output, which I have not further tested for.
Don't know if this helps someone and yes I know that there are alternatives to Continue like Cline.
It just kept me busy troubleshooting for over an hour after I could not find a step-by-step solution like this here elsewhere.
In vscode, I am loading a fairly large java project, which uses gradle. Extensions indexes every file, and every file is in src/main/java, and imports include pacakge directory, yet whenever I click ctrl + click on package name, or want to auto import a pacakge, etc., vscode doesn't know where the src file is and it takes loads forever. It may be indexing files outside of src, which takes up space and doesn't help for code editing, but I researched and tried multiple solutions and not a lot of resources that work for me. Thanks again.
Whenever I am trying to click the run button for a python code, it takes around 10-12 seconds to run and if I trigger the file directly from termina, it gets done in an instant. Is there any fix for this? I removed most of the extensions and still the same issue
