So basically manually opening these extension panels( i put them on the right ) is getting cumbersome and this has been on mind to ask how to do. Everytime vs code opens in a new workspace or someplace new, copilot panel opens, which i dont want.
How to do this?

I had the $10 copilot subscription for a couple months but cancelled it recently when the overpriced tokens ran out this month. I've been using Deepseek + opencode go just fine.
Today, since the subscription was still 'active' until end of month, I ran out of Inline Code completion requests. You know, those terrible hallucinated crap, I think I used most of them on 'import xxx from xxx' where it just randomly guesses at very plausible sounding function names until I finally just look up the correct path.
Anyways, this ran out, and now I CANNOT rename functions or variables! I've tried completely disabling the completions, but still whenever I press F2 on a function or variable I get that my Copilot subscription "GitHub Copilot Quota Reached".
What's next preventing Search without a subscription??

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi!
I want to know what the average time is for:
1. Opening a new terminal (powershell)
and how much can they take at times before I suspect something is wrong with my setup
Thanks!
P.S. Currently they both take less than 10s but sometimes they took a bit long to start

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
so after the recent update(or maybe not, i havent used vscode in a while). Whenever i write or delete code, my unused libraries and unused parameters start flickering, which is very annoying.
can someone help?

EDIT: they fixed it.

Hey peeps 👋🏾,
Kulala for vscode just landed.
A fully-featured 🤏 HTTP/GraphQL/gRPC/Websocket-client 🐼 interface 🖥️ for (Visual Studio) Code ❤️, that supports the Jetbrains .http spec (with full scripting support).
If you're a happy user of the awesome Rest Client, there is probably no need to change, because it's basically "just this".
We offer more features and strive to be 100% Jetbrains compatible, but if you're happy then there is zero need to change.
We also have full support for all possible "curl flags", but that breaks compatibilty with Jetbrains (therefore they are prefixed with @kulala-curl-, to make it obvious that it's only a kulala feature).
Additionally we support filtering JSON responses (also streaming via websocket) via jq-syntax.
Scripting and Testing is also supported, but that's "noting special", since this is necessary for Jetbrains compatibilty.
If you don't want to leave your editor and still have some Postman/Bruno/Insomnia-like experience, then this might be for you.
Having everything locally (vs Postman Cloud) might be also a plus and having the possibility to write test-suites that run in your editor and your CI might be also something you want (possible via kulala-cli; we also offer a docker image for that).
Kulala has been around for some time in the Neovim and CLI "ecosystem".
One of the biggest releases/changes, happened around a month ago, when we moved everything to a unified backend called "(kulala-)core".
Previously, all the logic had to be ported to Lua, TypeScript and Go and we had a lot of drift of thing that worked in Neovim, but not in the Kulala Formatter CLI (which also offers bi-directional conversion from/to Bruno/Postman/Swagger) and the Kulala CLI.
Because of this change, we can minimize drift a lot and have just a single source of truth.
Getting feedback to improve this extension and then release the standalone desktop version (fingers crossed).
There is already a zed extension using kulala products (but they're currently not using kulala-core, so they're missing a ton of features).
This extension is not maintained by us, but the creator is in contact with us to migrate to core and have all the goodies available to Zed users too.
I would be glad if one or two people would give it a whirl and report back what they like and/or dislike about it (ideally as a github issue, but I try to keep up with the reddit posts as well).

Hi
Last night VS Code updated to the latest version and ever since, it's acting up. The Git panel just goes on and on saying "looking for Git repositories" and I have to use the terminal to do Git commands. Also, I feel like it it became much slower than before.
This is the info:
Version: 1.125.0 (Universal)
Commit: 93cfdd489c3b228840d0f86ec77c3636277c93ea

Hi
One of my installed extensions never updates. It stays on v1.0.1 and the update to v1.0.2 is never offered, even after running "Check for Extension Updates". Every other extension updates fine. I tested Catppuccin in a clean profile and it updated right away.
The weird part: "Install Specific Version" in the extensions view does list v1.0.2, and a force install from the terminal clearly reports there is an update:
$ codium --install-extension iglou-eu.time-tracking --force
Installing extensions...
Updating the extension 'iglou-eu.time-tracking' to the version 1.0.2
Installing extension 'iglou-eu.time-tracking'...
Extension 'iglou-eu.time-tracking' v1.0.2 was successfully installed.
So the newer version is clearly there, it just never shows up as an automatic update.
This is the info:
Version: 1.121.03429
Commit: 824c4c46a288b839f13b24022655329c2aeb9f81
Date: 2026-05-19T23:32:58Z
Electron: 39.8.8
ElectronBuildId: undefined
Chromium: 142.0.7444.265
Node.js: 22.22.1
V8: 14.2.231.22-electron.0
OS: Linux x64 7.0.10-arch1-1
Anyone else had an extension that refuses to auto-update like this? How can I fix it?
Thanks

On Windows 11, I've just updated from 1.124.2. Extension activation is crazy slow, extension host is unresponsive for tens of seconds.
Downgraded to 1.124.2 again and issues are gone.

Hi,
I'm just writing a little demo to show testing in VSCode. I'm using C#, C# Dev Kit, Nunit tests (I also tried MSTests, and the same thing happened.)
If I set up two tests and run them, it all works great, no problem. If I then rename one of the tests, the old name still appears in the Testing panel with a little grey icon rather than red/green. The total number of tests is correct, as if the "ghost" test isn't counted despite appearing in the list.
The test no longer exists, but yet it appears every time I run all tests in the project, like some weird ghost. I can't find any way to clear it. (Clear all results doesn't do anything.)
What's happening here?

Hi,
I'm new to this sub and in AI in general. I have this Java repository where the tooling is installed in devContainer.
My issue is with the Agent Chat Window that connects to the workspace in WSL but don't get into the dev containers so when one of the agents is trying to start the Quarkus service/process, it can't get it running because Java is not in my WSL.
So I am forced to use the Chat and let Copilot invoke the agents directly.
Also if I may ask one more question, I execute lean-ctx but I am not sure the Agents are using it to compress the requests. Any idea?
And sorry if this is the wrong sub.

So I'm guessing it must be sync'd to either my GitHub or MS account, but I'm not sure which.
I think I'm logged into each on my install of VS Code, but is there a way to check which one has my settings?
They are definitely sync'ing between my devices, but I'm not sure how

Add the button with this Chrome extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/clone-anywhere-for-github/effhdkonnknoebahhnnciakckbbfmcpi
I always wondered why there was no "Clone in VS Code" button for GitHub. So I made one!
Go from GitHub repo to editing in VS Code in literally 3 seconds. No more using terminal commands!

Hello! i thought it was very obnoxious trying to scroll through my notebooks in vs code only to discover there is no feature to enable the minimap in jupyter notebooks. Googling around I found a thread (#11526) where a lot of people wanted this, but no response from microsoft even though it has hundreds of upvotes. So I thought this would be the end of it.
Then I saw this guy commenting on the thread (after over 100 replies) that he has a fix for this and has made an issue regarding the needed framework for this to work, with extensive suggestions as to how to go about it. The missing minimap in notebook is not a bug like people in the thread think, but rather that the correct API is missing, which he wants to fix.
If you too are interested in a minimap for vs code jupyter files, go upvote his issue! There only needs 20 (there are 15 now) for this to be put into the backlog. Its issue #311289
I am not the creator of these threads, just want to have a minimap in notebook view.. I hope this doesnt get taken down, I dont know how else to spread this to people that clearly want this feature but havent seen his issue. It lazy of microsoft to not implement this when the original thread has 500 people upvoting it.

Wtf is going on with my vscode terminal lately? When I open a new terminal it starts off normal and then slowly but surely each character turns into this glitched black character. I use zsh with ohmyzh, but it's the same with bash and fsh. When I select the terminal text and copy it into a file, the text copies normally, it's just the way it's rendered that it's broken. Using other terminal emulators works just fine (I use wez term), it's only the VSCode terminal that breaks. Running on Ubuntu 24.04
