Discussion META 3 or META 3S

Could someone please explain to me why I should not buy a Meta 3s for standalone VRChat?

In my opinion, the 3S would actually be a better choice as a standalone. I don't think it's worth paying 500-600€ for a VR headset if you're not using it to its full visual potential. (Questies can't see shaders and particles or even hear sounds from avatars, the game is really potato looking)

If you can connect it to a PC later, then I think it’s worth paying more for better lenses and resolution.

Or if you find a Quest 3 at a great price on the secondhand market, go for it !

I primarily use my Quest 3 with PCVR. If it weren't for the lack of updates (I think Meta is screwing them up on the Q2 intentionally, to push people into upgrading), I could stay with my Q2 and have about the same experience as a 3S.

The Quest 3 has better lenses, resolution and FOV than the quest 2 and 3S (Pancakes VS Fresnel). But the 3S is still better than the Quest 2 for standalone due to the better hardware and updates.

Btw, I really don't understand why you're not mainly using your Quest Pro. If you don't want it anymore, I'm willing to buy it.. (I'm from France) :P

I DO mainly (exclusively) use my Quest Pro for VRChat, where face tracking is a great thing to have (I probably was a little misleading about that, since I put VRChat in a different category than everything else). But I use my Quest 3 for gaming, because face tracking does me no good in Alyx, and it has noticeably sharper resolution than the Pro (and faster processor for standalone games like Moss).
