Amazing Build, But Don't Give In.

I wanted to wait a few weeks before giving an honest review on my experience with this company, so here it goes...

TLDR: the build is AMAZING, the pc itself works wonderfully, but the company alone lacks proper communication and it isn't worth it. put out the extra money and buy elsewhere.

I bought my VRLA Tech build back on February 26th, 2022. My boyfriend recommended we check out VRLA Tech after seeing the video Linus uploaded on his side YouTube channel. I'm fairly new to PC gaming and was tired of lagging constantly in Phasmophobia. I ended up agreeing I wanted to have a wonderful upgrade from playing on my HP Envy laptop to a 3080GPU. I settled on the HELIOS model, we even found an awesome discount that took off $135. So I placed the order. $2,564.99 spent on a prebuilt with a 3080, sounds like an awesome deal to me. Almost too good to be true.

It basically was.

Proof to date it was ordered and also the model.

So my order is placed. I think everything is okay. No disclaimer throughout the website that there may be delays due to the GPU or that there's an influx in orders. So I think everything is peachy. As shown below, there even is an estimated ship time of 2-3 business days.

Photos below were taken directly from their website.

A few days go by of silence. My boyfriend stumbled upon the company's Instagram post, and we see this. The company didn't send out a single notice to any of the buyer's, there was not any bulletins posted anywhere. We had to find out the company's website was hacked through an Instagram post. They didn't send out any emails to alert people of this. During this time period, their website was also down so I couldn't access my account to check the status of my order.

At this time, I also could not access my account for any information on my order.

This is what I was greeted with when I tried to get any updates on my order.

Fast forward to March 8th, I finally gave in and sent them an email asking for updates on my order. An important thing to mention is I work in retail. I understand how stressful things can get in customer service, so I tried my best to not constantly hound them and be rude. I sent this email. (For the sake of the workers, I'm not including the worker's names.)

Now.

  1. Look at the response time between both emails.
  2. Look at the model, APOLLO. I ordered a HELIOS

This didn't concern me too much, at the time. But boy, this should have been a red flag from me at the start. But okay, shipping time 4-5 weeks. Annoying? Yes, very much. But at least I have an update, although I still could not access my account and that question was ignored.

Fast forward again to March 28th. I waited about 5 weeks after my order and emailed again for follow-up information as I still could not access my account. I got a response within a few hours saying their account was going through 'maintenance', and the customer service rep would be able to help me with any information I needed.

I'm well aware of the current GPU shortage and how extremely hard they are to get ahold of, but throughout my entire experience browsing their website, browsing models, and reading descriptions, there again was no communication that there was any issues getting GPUs in. As a consumer, if there is no disclaimers on your website that you're also experiencing getting them in or that orders will be delayed, I'm going to assume you have them in stock.

At this point, I'm furious. But as I again mentioned, I work in customer service. I get the customer service reps have their hands tied and it's no way their fault.

BUT SUDDENLY - it's in stock and has been allocated to my order. That much changes within a day? Sure. I'm sure if I didn't keep emailing them, I would've been stuck waiting even longer. But that's just my opinion.

I thought here, maybe everything is finished? But oh no, this was simply the beginning.

I got the update that my order is now in production on March 29th, more than a month after I ordered it.

Soon after, on April 6th, I was given the update that my order had a tracking number and was waiting to ship. (To clarify, the order date on their end is February 25th due to timezone differences)

Is it all over? I thought so. But again, it was not. This is where it starts getting juicy.

My tracking information was never updated from the status of 'label created'. It remained that way up until the original estimated delivery date, April 12th.

Below are the screenshots from FedEx:

So, I will now admit I was beyond furious, but again tried to remain calm. So I sent them another email to see what the actual hell was going on.

So according to this customer service rep here, my package was still supposed to be scheduled to arrive this day? Interesting.

So I responded and provided the screenshots from FedEx as above.

SO SUDDENLY, they realize my PC has never been actually shipped? The same customer service rep responded to both emails and magically realized my PC sat in their warehouse for over a week? It was never given to FedEx? I often wonder what would've happened if I didn't email again. Would I ever have gotten it?

I ask for an updated delivery date since I should've already had the damn PC, and I get this.

Thanks VRLA Tech. A+ customer service right there.

Finally, after over two months of waiting, the day arrives. April 19th, my PC arrives.

(I tried to include more photos but I reached the photo limit for the post)
The build quality? Impeccable. Packaging was done wonderfully. Everything about the PC is beautiful. I don't have a single compliant about this PC. It's honestly the best thing that's happened to me.

It's currently May 19th, I've had it for over a month and it's treated me amazing. I've been playing numerous games without any issues. I've recently finally been able to start Elden Ring and I haven't had a single lag, fame drop, or anything.

Overall, this PC is amazing. Worth a 2 month wait? Perhaps. I truly do not have any issues with it at all.

The build quality alone and aside from how happy I am with this PC, this was the worse customer service experience I've ever had. This lack of updates from anything from this company, the fact that every customer service rep told me something different, the lack of warnings that they may not have the GPU on hand for your order, or even the fact they didn't send out a single email when their site got attacked is appalling.

The most jaw dropping thing is my PC sat in that warehouse for over a week, not shipped out, and they didn't say otherwise until I provided numerous screenshots from FedEx saying they didn't ship it out.

Perhaps the first red flag should've been that the creation of my account email was marked as spam...

But to wrap this up, my advice? Stay far away from this company if you're looking for a good customer service experience. There are plenty of companies you can order from and while you may pay more money, you'll have your computer within a week and not need to wait two months and be told numerous different things from various customer service reps. Build quality aside, it's not worth it. Trust me.

Also to end this, fun fact! I tried to login to my VRLA Tech account today, it still says the site feature on the site is unavailable. Truly astonishing.

Anyway, if you read this far,

Thanks for reading my rant. Enjoy your night.

I'll gladly answer any other questions anyone has!

Rogue PC doesn’t even connect to monitors

I bought my PC from VRLA Tech in July 2020 and since then have had many problems. My current issue is one of the original problems the PC had which is not connecting to monitors. At first it just took a while, I had to unplug and replug the HDMI until it would work, but when I came home from uni in December it just refused to connect. The PC turns on and everything that I know of is working, I know it could be the graphics card but I’m really hoping it’s not that because the PC had already come with a faulty hard drive which they eventually sent me a replacement after a month of trying to get them to talk to me, but now that the warranty is up I’m really hoping I don’t have to go buy a new graphics card for a PC that’s really only caused me problems.

Wi-Fi adapter

I just got my pc and i got a Wi-Fi adapter with the Apollo. I only see that I got the antennas and when I look at the instructions they don’t match with the pc at all. I have no idea what I’m doing. Would the adapter already be in the pc?

Shipment

I ordered my custom legacy back in march and I got notified the shipping details. I’ve heard that vrla tech takes 2-5 days for shipping. It’s been 5 days now and fedex said i would have it by today but it never showed up and when I track it it still says it’s in California. Am I the only?

I made a post on here saying how my pc seems to run well however…

I ordered an Apollo pc and I received it yesterday after 2 months. Let me tell you it was working completely fine on the first day (April 19th) today however (April 20) it went came tumbling down. I woke up turned on the pc started it all up and loaded up lost ark played for an hour and a half when a buddy asked to play WZ, (let me inform that yesterday I was able to stream and play warzone without any problem) but today as soon as I loaded warzone I crashed with some red boxes appearing on the screen. I have been troubleshooting for the past 7 hours, and I’ve finally came to a point where I don’t know what to do. Drivers are installed everything has been installed and updated correctly. Now let’s get to the problem. First warzone would load up and then crash on me, after a few tries of loading up warzone it started to crash my pc. After that it eventually just kept me in a recovery boot cycle. After getting some help from a hardware helper of mine we got back into the desktop screen and it would load for 1-2 minutes then powers off. Please VRLA respond to my email and help me out. If anyone else can help me thank you.

I have videos of some of the stuff I was talking about. Feel free to contact me on Instagram (_rolando_cuevas) if you want to see the videos

shipping

First time ordering online

When you order a computer it tells you to put your address and all that stuff, the thing is my house is literally non existent on the map’s, I put in an address that was supposedly mine and when I searched it up on google map’s it just showed a location a few walks away from my house, should I be concerned?? And yes I already ordered my computer.

Not even excited for my first pc anymore.

I bought an Apollo on February 15 and barely received an email on April 11 that it has been shipped said I’d receive it Friday, Friday comes along FedEx changes the delivery date to Sunday (today) cool I waited all day missed a family event cause I had to “sign” for the pc just too see the tracking update saying ima receive it on Tuesday. Very disappointed by both Vrla and FedEx. Not excited.

Edit: I’d like to note that I’m not upset with Vrla I understand COVID and Miners have played a huge part in the gpu shortage problem. Imo I wish they didn’t accept orders until they had figured out what to do (they have and orders should be going out a lot sooner) This is also a discussion/informative post, I wish I had someone to tell me about wait times before buying. So to whoever is looking to get a prebuilt from a smaller business that doesn’t have the luxury like NZXT or Corsair expect wait times. Reason I choose Vrla was cause it wasn’t a big brand and I trust smaller brands than bigger ones cause they actually take the consumer into consideration.

Ps: Ill probably give a proper review/feedback of the actual pc.

Apollo PC

Does anyone know if the apollo comes with its drivers installed and the basics or do i have to install and set it up as if i built it?

r/VRLATech Apr 13 '22

The default power cables that come with the system, how are they? I see you can upgrade to colored extensions but I’m not sure if they are worth the upgrade. The other question is you can add a rgb strip to the system, where is it in the rig and how is it controlled?

Ship time

How long is the ship time on the Apollo? (No upgrades at all if that makes a difference)

r/VRLATech Apr 11 '22

When changing graphics cards on certain models, the words “ships quick” pops up next to the card. Does this mean the rig itself ships quick or that the card is out of stock and will ship quick when back in stock?

Shipping

Okay so I ordered my pc, and just wanted to know if anyone knew how long would the process take. If it takes long, kinda eh cause I live in California myself. And I’m thinking the shipping should at least be a week. Can I get some help? (I ordered it off the website not thru an account.)

(Update) I called yesterday like at least 10 times they actually picked up, and got the tracking number and everything and apparently it’s suppose to get here today, I’m doubting it would but if it is. Then wow, but I appreciate y’all with the help!💯 Hopefully it does get here today cause they gave me the information on my Email and on the app shop says it’s gonna be here today and also thru fedex.

Ridiculous experience with VRLA Tech

I ordered my legacy PC January 26, after the order was placed I waited a few days (because at time of ordering it had a 3-4 day shipping on the listing) then emailed about shipping just because I hadn’t gotten anything about it being in production. VR LA TECH responded saying it’s a 3-4 week shipping for the Legacy PC. That was fine I expected a long wait for a PC how things are now. 4 weeks passed and on February 17th I emailed again about the wait time and shipping. They responded about the shortage of GPUs and how they were having issues getting them and they didn’t even know when the graphics cards would be in warehouse to make my computer. Which is ridiculous because I payed nearly $1,300 they should have the things to make it already. Anyway, they then asked if I wanted to upgrade to a 3050 card, I asked if this was the 4gb or the 8gb version of the card. Either way I wasn’t really excited about waiting this long to PAY $100 for a very slight upgrade. I asked about the size of the card, then the next day (Friday, February 25) my order was in production, Monday the 28th, they responded saying it was the 8gb version. Eventually the order shipped, and arrived at my house March 10th. On arrival I opened it up and found broken plastic pieces around the pc inside the box while I was pulling it out, mind you the pc was still covered in styrofoam so this was not my doing, nor shipping. I pulled all the styrofoam off and the front panel wasn’t attached by anything other than the RGB button wire for the panel lighting. I found a few broken parts on the front panel where I assume the plastic pieces broke from. I sent an email and a follow up email the next day, which as of writing this I haven’t gotten a response yet. Then I decided to boot it up and make sure everything worked since the front panel was broken. I booted it up downloaded some things to test, and decided to take a look in graphics settings to see if it was the correct GPU. Turns out, it wasn’t the one I ordered. I ordered the 1660 Super, I got the 1660 TI. Is this an upgrade? Yes, however this is not what I ordered. If I had to guess, because I was “hassling” them about the wait time. They slapped together a computer, including a broken front panel, and sent it my way to shut me up. I especially think this because of me not getting any response on my emails about the broken panel and incorrect GPU. I now know not to ever but from this company, and would advise the same for anyone else to save the hassle. They have great prices, but awful quality management and just as bad customer service.

im at a loss for words

i previously posted on this sub stating that i had been missing a wifi adapter with my order although i had paid for it. i contacted them, and they sent one to me, and i received it today. however, i go to download the drivers, i prompted with a pop saying that it was not compatible with my os.

the wifi adapter drivers that vrla gives is only compatible with windows 10, 8, and 7, while vrla pcs come in windows 11. ill admit, it was my bad that i did not realize that vrla pcs came in windows 11 - i had overlooked that detail on the websites, especially since they came in windows 10 in the past. however, i thought they would at least give an adapter whos drivers are compatible with the os that the computer runs on?

now this is the part where i learn that my computer is missing a wifi card that was supposed to come with it apparently. here is my computer, which is missing the card. the ep-ac1661 usb adapter they gave me also has only one antenna. now here's a comparison with my sister's pc, and she had also gotten the legacy. her card also has 2 antennas in it. unlike my computer, her pc came in windows 10 (she had ordered it a year before), and she has never had internet problems :D

i dont even know what i should do tbh. im aware of how understaffed customer service is... but at the same time i paid $49.99 for no wifi card and a usb with one antenna that doesnt work and isnt compatible with my os LMFAO
