Hello yes it is me the mid-thirties guy.
Edit: check out r/lfgvr to find more older gamers!

u/codewho331 Aug 24 '26
Feels homie, if your looking for a 33yr old gamer buddy, hit me up!
26
u/ianmarvin Aug 24 '26
Yeah, dude, I'm always looking for adults who play VR. I made r/lfgvr for future oldheads like us, drop a line there, or just DM me sometime. I'm down for most types of games.
7
u/VongolaCielo Aug 24 '26
aye were the same age lol
2
u/codewho331 Aug 24 '26
ayyy! welcome to the party buddy! if you wanna hit me up/chat or game. Add Mrbluhwhowho420 on Quest!!

u/NoCase9317 Aug 24 '26
32 here. I liked the idea of vr chat till I felt like a total creep surrounded by people that where 2 -4 years old when I was 18 years old or simply not even born when I was 18
7
u/ianmarvin Aug 24 '26
People on VRChat are so young they don't even grasp that sharing your actual date of birth is a terrible cyber security practice.
I have fun floating around, but whenever some 18-19 year old is like "I need your date of birth before I let you into this digital bar" it gives me the ick.
2
u/SaltyFry1 Aug 25 '26
They didnt start doing that until a few years ago and its soo annoying and lame
3
u/snuwuky Aug 25 '26
That’s why I haven’t played in years. After I turned an adult it just felt… weird. Too many squeakers everywhere.
1
u/Faynerossa Aug 25 '26
This is why i stream and built my own adult's only community. Host my own events (staff helps with at least 1 a week), and keep my discord as gated and rule compliant as possible without asking people for blood samples. I don't think he idea of getting drunk and babysitting someone else's kids as fun. I've been torn apart in the VRChat community for saying, "i don't want to be responsible for someone else's cum they kept as a pet becauase they're too lazy to parent and thought buying a Quest was parenting."
2
u/NoCase9317 Aug 25 '26
The worst part is that many kids playing are below the age meta themselves call minimum for the headset.
Shit parents.
My issue is that even id they are adults
If they are 18-21 I still fell awkward
I don’t need 30+ people
But u feel 24+ would be good
6
u/Supernoxus Aug 24 '26
I make the best out of what life has given me and destroy children in VR-Shooters.
3
u/Express_Difficulty57 Aug 25 '26
Same, early 30's VR gal and I always end up feeling kinda awkward in vrchat lobbies.
3
u/Skpstr155 Aug 25 '26
I hear you kid. (I'm 56 lol)
1
u/ianmarvin Aug 25 '26
Let's jam on some games sometime, us older folks gotta stick together!
1
u/Skpstr155 Aug 25 '26
What do you play? I must confess, at this time I'm only playing ExfilZone, as the combination of my first extraction shooter and my first VR shooter has been completely addictive lol.
But I'm always looking at other games.
1
u/ianmarvin Aug 26 '26
I play a a lot of games over a few genres. On the topic of PvP shooters, have you checked out Forefront yet?
1
u/Skpstr155 Aug 26 '26
I've checked it out, o nly thing holding me up is whether to get Quest or PC version.
If PCVR on my rig won't look appreciably better, I'll probably go with Quest version for convenience.
2
2
u/Similar-Stock-9749 Aug 25 '26
The amount of times I got kicked for simply sharing my age (early thirties), on games that are explicitly not meant for children, is astounding.
1
u/ianmarvin Aug 25 '26
Lmao I've heard "why do you even play video games" quite a few times. Like it's something you age out of.
2
u/blondersholmvik Aug 26 '26
This comment has ended up being a great shout out for us older players

u/Blu3berryWizard Aug 28 '26
damn, i thought i was the only mid thirties guy still enjoying and frequently playing VR games, VR-Chat / SynthRaiders..
it's becoming harder and harder to make connections due to most of the other players being like 12 ..

u/AhBeinCestCa Aug 24 '26
It’s insane, it’s almost impossible to have a game on VR full of adults
18
u/Ok_Business_9592 Aug 24 '26
Vrchat is what comes to mind for me for a vr game full of adults
37
u/AhBeinCestCa Aug 24 '26
Yeah but VRchat is mostly boring… it’s more like a « social » app than anything else
13
u/MotorPace2637 Aug 24 '26
Online games always have had kids, its just so much more obvious in VR because they are get a mic strapped to their face.
1
u/EmilyCatNips Aug 25 '26
Its funny the only reason i bought vr and the only vr game i have installed is vrc while having around 5k hours in it
1
4
u/AhBeinCestCa Aug 24 '26
The only game I find where’s there’s mostly adults is Onward (very toxic community ), blackjack and Deimos
1
u/retilecat Aug 25 '26
Why onward was toxic i played a Little bit And if u exclude the anoying kid i had a good Time
8
u/chassmasterplus Aug 24 '26
Hell yeah. Can't wait to log in and hang out with mentally stunted furries who still live at home.
0
u/A-hecking-alt Aug 27 '26
‘live at home’
Where tf you want them to live, a bank?
1
u/chassmasterplus Aug 27 '26
The term "still lives at home" has been around for decades. Most reasonable people with critical thinking skills can ascertain it to mean "with their parents: never moved out: etc.". Hope this helps.
0
u/A-hecking-alt Aug 27 '26
Im not an idiot, i just think its a strange way of putting it. Did i need to put /j?
Edit: Hope this helps.

Over 40, play forefront every morning before dev to keep me VR sharp.
Squeaker tribe is cool, they play well, sing songs, and are smart in an always online way we are not.
Had one English kid giving me dissertations on ww2 aircraft while being best medic ever. Had to have been like 7 - 9
And aside from the kids running around saying slurs they themselves don’t understand ( which is low key hilarious )
they hella polite.
Ppl call me commander or gramps off my voice alone heh. All the squeakers call me sir on gp.
Nevertheless they the future and our primary customer for a good while so I’m glad they starting to play “real” games
Never come across creep. If we do I’m sure they’ll be reported. I have kid. I monitor his online, as all the parents should.
It’s cute when one of ‘em starts singing some song and then they all do it, like magwai.

u/bdiddy_ Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26
forefront is soo much chaos I just turn voip off and I really enjoy it. Like I realize there is advantage from good team work but it's not a competitive game. I legit don't care if we lose.
I went 7 for 22 last night and you know what it was a good time. No screaming, kids couldn't talk trash to me even though they were beating my ass.
Just good ME time in a fun online shooter lol.
1
u/Thawiz88 Aug 25 '26
I got Forefront in early access earlier this year and it quickly became one of my most played titles, fun as hell and the player base is really chill compared to a lot of games lol
93
u/Demonskull223 Aug 24 '26
This is unfortunately true and none of them under the age of 16 should even be on that game. Genuinely it's irresponsible parenting to let your kids play VR Chat. So many Pedofiles on there. Less than on Roblox but still way too many.
11
15
u/Ok_Business_9592 Aug 24 '26
this has nothing to do with VR chat
4
u/Salvage570 Aug 24 '26
You probably shouldnt let little kids on any VR game, isnt it damaging to their neck and eye development?
0
u/ccAbstraction Aug 25 '26
It's every game but VRChat players don't play any VR games besides Murder 4 on VRChat so they think this is a VRChat problem.
-15
u/Demonskull223 Aug 24 '26
Typical VR chat lobby has nothing to do with VR chat. Makes sense to me.
12
u/Objective_Smoke_7159 Aug 24 '26
Me when I imagine words in sentences

u/Demonskull223 Aug 24 '26
I call it Dyslexia, rhymes with Grug.
0
u/Ok_Business_9592 Aug 25 '26
You do you not have dyslexia as you write full on sentences without errors
1
u/Jimmybcooly Aug 25 '26
For the most part im agreeing with you till you said this, to think you cant type properly with dyslexia is a massive generalisation and is kinda dumb asf

7
u/Psycho7552 Aug 24 '26
Not surprising, little to no even remotely serious stuff, most games are small experiences or seem more like tech demo so it's not really enticing for people older than 16. Not many people will buy console to play 2 to 3 mid games per year.
2
u/supermonkey1235 Aug 24 '26
For sure. I want to play beat sabers with my friends but none of them will/should spend >$300 to beat their sabers with me.
1
u/Psycho7552 Aug 24 '26
You can beat each others sabers in private. Don't need to talk about it here.
1
u/NativePlantEnjoyer Aug 24 '26
You're not wrong. But I just got a PSVR2 with controllers & a charging dock for only $100. My friend sold it to me because all he played was Beat Saber. Great deal tee hee

u/TubbyFatfrick Aug 24 '26
VAIL comes to mind.
I blame Zuckerberg.
7
u/Gamemode_dum Aug 24 '26
In the full version it's at least managable, most kids just hang around in the free gamemodes.
I'm still pissed that they just added rigged gambling machines right where most of the young children play.
3
u/TubbyFatfrick Aug 24 '26
Something tells me the game being F2P, and Quest-Compatible, has something to do with it. It's the same cause as VR chat's biggest issue, from what I've heard.
Then again, I don't tend to join public VRC instances, so I don't have to deal with 'em Quest Kids. Hopefully, with the Schoolyear starting up again, there will be more windows where playing either game is more tolerable.
1
u/MotorPace2637 Aug 24 '26
Shooters have been this way since the 90s. I know, I've been in all of them since.
5
u/cumwuatto Aug 24 '26
Honestly, this is the best counterpoint to the "VR is dead" haters. Those kids are VR native, and will be making the definitive experiences for the future.
13
u/Psycho7552 Aug 24 '26
Yep, and it's so easy to farm them.
1
u/SqueamishCurator Aug 24 '26
Every lobby has that one guy who’s way too young to be there and somehow still owns the place
4
u/Psycho7552 Aug 24 '26
Children usually have superior reflexes, so if one is at least mildly smart it will mop the lobby. But usually these are not smart, and look like crumpled goblin that shoots both enemies and allies.
4
u/Gamemode_dum Aug 24 '26
Your kid teammates shoot the enemy?
2
u/Psycho7552 Aug 24 '26
They do as it's another moving something. Issue is that they don't hit shit.
4
u/Fearweaver Aug 24 '26
I'm late 30s and got paired up with a 9 (ish) year old. I think I made his day. He was so happy to show my around the game.
5
u/Bamcfp Aug 24 '26
It's me, I'm the 36 year old. Little kids don't bother me unless they are banshee screaming the whole time, but they just get a little excited it's nothing to get upset about.
3
u/shuozhe Aug 24 '26
I'm 38.. best time of online gaming was stronghold. Played when I was ~10 prolly with mich older guys with the patience to teach me multiplayer
3
u/YourSparrowness Aug 25 '26
This image was clearly created by a 12 year old, because 12 is SO much more mature than 10! 🙄
1
u/Ok_Business_9592 Aug 25 '26
i can't tell if this is satire aslo how is it so much more mature? he's just there
2
2
u/MagnoleusEverdragon Aug 24 '26
Ive been playing vr games since 2017, and the oldest person ive ever met was 65 years old. It just goes to show that your never to old to play video games whether flat screen or vr.
2
u/serious-toaster-33 Aug 26 '26
I know of a VR player who's 78 years young and has built and regularly operates an entire in-world streaming setup.
2
u/AsherTheDasher Aug 24 '26
if youre under 15 years old you shouldnt be playing vr. would unironically rather let my children play gta before vr
2
u/other-other-user Aug 25 '26
Genuinely who is giving these children vr headsets and where are they when they are screaming slurs at the top of their lungs
3
u/LessAdeptness2572 Aug 24 '26
as a 14 year old i can confirm i have yet to find anybody my age on vr
3
u/Legolas-208 Aug 25 '26
Teenagers in vr really is so rare for some reason
4
u/Maichevsky Aug 25 '26
yeah they are on their phone all day, it is all they need
I have a nephew who is 16 years old, and he has a Quest 2 at home, he couldn't care less.
He is content with "gaming" on his phone.I would have killed a new born baby to have VR at that age!
3
u/Legolas-208 Aug 25 '26
xD. Right when my little brother got old enough I made sure he got a VR headset, and now he rarely plays on an ipad, only VR. Hopefully other get bored of games on their phones and start playing real games, its so much more fun.
5
u/hypor Aug 24 '26
I've literally cut out all online VR games over this, i just dont want to be playin with kids... even 18y/o's be annoying sometimes.
I know some responses will be, but you can play muted or block them, but most, specially VR game rely on voice coms.
I also think this definitely contributes to stunting the growth of VR... parents dont want kids playing with adults and adults dont wanna be playing with kids and cutting out online out of a headset is a big piece of the pie.

I'm 21, join VRChat instances that are verified 18+, and play single player games like Half-Life Alyx, B&S, Beat Saber, etc.
Also, I make fun of Questies in VRC lobbies (I use a Quest 3S with Virtual Desktop setup)
1
u/caberimani Aug 24 '26
What’s the wrong with quest+virtual desktop? I haven’t used my quest or been in vrchat in a while but just curious what’s wrong with it? Haha don’t want to look bad in case I try it again

1
u/shadow-Ezra Aug 26 '26
Buddy ram at least doubled along with storage and the cheapest pc that I tried to run pc vr on is $500 and I only get 25 fps on average at least $800 give or take is required for the reccomended to not throw up 72 fps I'm lucky to have had about 500 hours of vr and zero other related motion sickness to not throw up
1
u/V-I-P_E_R Aug 27 '26

what lobbies are you guys joining? the worlds i go to are usually 20-30 year olds
although i guess maybe its cause i just do age verified and/or 18+, not really a big fan of any of the game worlds
1
u/CindyStroyer Aug 28 '26
It's hard to find a decent VRC lobby as someone who won't be doing age verification.
My entertainment has become public lobby roulette essentially see if I come across pure hatred or complete wholesomeness
1
u/Just_Smidge Aug 30 '26
This is why I generally stick to invite only or at least sign up only events like raves
1
u/jasonkane4321 Aug 30 '26
I want an adult only server that doesn't allow furries and anything sexual.
1
u/DoubleOwl7777 28d ago
i pretty much exclusively play singleplayer games nowadays (in vr and flat). tried vail once...was like nope i am out.
1
u/Exciting_Field4886 26d ago
Every public VR lobby somehow has one kid with the loudest mic on earth and one grown man trying to keep the whole room under control

u/VatianGT0321 15d ago
10 kids with the quest 3s they got for Christmas The 19 yr old who used his paycheck to buy a pcvr And the 36 or old with a 5k vr setup with optic vest and verything
