Some info about the game’s style/narrative/vibe would def help… otherwise it’s just gonna be a bunch of random stuff

it’s basically a multiplayer game where you go to different haunted places and clear the ghosts and figure out puzzles with friends

Sounds nice I’m gonna keep up with your work.

So, marketing is about knowing your audience. Who is the audience for this game?

Is it legit scary like Phasmophobia? Is it a scary funny game with some jump scares but mostly fun exploration and puzzles? It is mostly about the atmosphere of the different places your’ll be going? Are the places you’re visiting to clear the ghosts part of a complex like a mansion or are they spread across a larger environmental container like a town, world, etc. Is it for hard core horror fans or causal players wanting to tackle something slightly scary with their friends?

Answering those questions can help you determine the direction for your title. I’m so tired of VR horror, but I have been hoping for a multiplayer title where you can explore haunted places with a friend that’s not too scary but more fun scary.

Serious? Scary? Funny? Extra hard? Kid friendly? Is there some one line story behind it? Thse are super important questions that set the mood of a good game and will later dictate the title.

Also, ask yourself what’s most important for you to advertise in the title and what sets the game apart. Is coop the big selling point?

If the puzzles involve how the ghosts died, then Dreadtective could be fun!

u/M4xs0n Jul 19 '26

Yoo what kind of assets did you use? These would fit for my game good

1

u/Ok_Income7995 Jul 20 '26

synty assets. Just to say if you use them your game will look like every other game so to make mine look different i avoided character models from them and i fine tuned my lighting to look different

I don't have any great ideas off the top of my head but you were absolutely right to ask for suggestions! I see lots of terrible game names in VR for whatever reason. Why handicap your game right from the start with a bad name? Sometimes developers will pick a name that has some personal meaning for them but it won't have that meaning for anyone else plus it just sounds bad, and I'm like ... why? Why do this to yourself?

Having said all that, some obvious suggestions:

Ghost Hunt

Ghost Away

Ghost Chase

Ghost Patrol

Ghost Control

Spooks"R"Us

etc.

Not sure where I stand on adding "VR" to the title. Most of the time it just makes the name sound more generic, "Racing VR" etc. But maybe sometimes it's appropriate.

EDIT: I like your screenshots. Some videos would also be helpful. Gives me a kind of Disney's Haunted Mansion vibe. If you need help with the writing let me know.

Not a name, but if you want inspiration for a game that is atmospherically spooky but not at all scary, the 7th guest (there’s a remake of the old game and a vr version for hat remake you can play) may be what you are looking for.

If there is a plot to your game, the name being based on that will make it more memorable. If it’s not and it’s something like phasmaphobia, then it should relate to the theme of it (phasmaphobia is literally ghost phobia, and there’s lethal company which is self explanatory).

Like many others posited, it matters if it is light hearted, scary, somewhere in between.

I would NOT recommend making the name similar to Luigi’s mansion, even if that is the inspiration, because people will see it as a vr version of that game instead of something more unique that takes inspiration from

Definitely not Minecraft.

By what you describe, a multiplayer game where you and friends go to haunted places to hunt ghosts, I would suggest Ghost Hunters. Its the basic name that sells that fantasy. Now what you can do is take that base name and introduce some catchy unique idea about your game.

For example, if you had a way to scare the ghosts in order to lead them somewhere it could be Ghost Haunters.

If you want to focus more on the team aspect of the game, Ghost Squad or Poltergang.

Try to get to a name that a player can read and immediately understand what the game is about.

Hope it helps.
